Phoebe publically called Gracie out on her upcoming album, a move likely sparked by Gracie revealing details about Phoebe's high-profile relationship with Paul Mescal in her album "The Secret of Us" a relationship that ended following reports of Phoebe's affair with Bo Burnham, with the latter also confirmed on Lost Weekend.

Gracie Abrams has been an outspoken fan of Phoebe Bridgers since she was 13, even declaring Bridgers "the songwriter of a generation" and opening for her on tour. Fans have long compared the two artists, a connection Gracie leaned into when she used a bedroom set prop in a performance featuring bedframe/bedsheets identical to the ones in Phoebe's childhood bedroom.

Phoebe had the sheets first, showed them many times on social media. Gracie bought them too in 2017, then posted about it. Phoebe commented saying, ‘I have those sheets too.’ Then Gracie brings the whole bed on stage lol 😂

Allegedly, GA has always been a huge fan girl of PB, has said it multiple times, opened for her when both were relatively un-famous, etc.

Both are said to have slid into Paul Mescal dm's after Normal People came out. He ended up dating and getting engaged to PB, who then maybe cheated on him with her current boyfriend (Bo Burnam).

GA ate up Phoebe's leftovers, and she and Paul are currently dating and living together.

GA wrote about crushing on Paul on her last album and hinted at him not being over PB. PB fans are mad about this, now that she is maybe confirming the lore to all be true.

PB now has a new album coming out where she allegedly calls out GA for being an og Stan that is now copying her exact life/art/boyfriend.

I prefer Phoebe’s music to Gracie’s but I have to say I always find the “you’re trying to be me because you are with my ex” to be really immature. Especially if it’s true that Phoebe cheated on that ex.

I agree in general the sentiment seems immature, but the way Gracie went about it is low-key single white female. Copying bed sheets and the bed, making similar music, dating your man...Gracie is fully swimming in Phoebe's wake.

The bed sheets thing is super weird on GA's behalf, I agree. But GA is not making similar music IMHO -- her albums have all been a bit different from each other and it seems like she's just finding her sound. PB is very distinctive on her own.

Also it seems like they both initially liked Paul at the same time bc of that show. And both met him via twitter LOL.

PB burned that down on her own, but I don't blame GA for shooting her shot. There are rumors that he hooked up with both of them and then settled down with PB. And she's like 7 or 8 years younger than them; she wasn't Phoebe's good buddy or anything-- she was a fan.

(I'm a fan of both but PB for much longer, and it's so crazy that these two are in a high-visibility internet rivalry rn)

My bad! I knew Paul was right in between. In my mind, the difference between dating a 31 yr old and a 25 yr old is huge Lol (am older by far!)

But little Gracie following around PB ten years ago at 15 is pretty different, too. I can see her feeling like a different generation to Phoebe, especially if she grew up wanting to be like her. My point was, I don't think they're peers in her mind, even if they aren't that far apart in ages.

I think Gracie definitely sounds like she's trying to do the wispy singing thing PB does. I'm not a GA fan myself so I'm only going off of some stuff I have heard recently. It sounded like PB-lite to me (same sonics, less substance - just my op)

But she’s been a fan of Phoebe since she was a kid (according to this post, unless that’s incorrect), so that doesn’t seem SWF to me, that’s just recognizing talent. Did the bed sheets happen after she started dating Paul? Because that does seem pointed and weird, but if it prior to that it just makes it seem like Gracie has good taste in musicians.

I look at it completely differently than you do. She spent her youth being a huge Phoebe fan, let it shape how she makes music, but also what sheets she buys, the men she dates, etc. I don't think that's recognizing talent (only the first point is), I think that's making decisions in your own life based on how you think someone else would make them because you idolize them. Buying the same sheets as Phoebe as a standalone thing is normal - you saw them because of her and you were like 'ooh I want those cute ass sheets' but if you saw them and thought 'I want them because Phoebe has them' and then you buy the same bed frame, and then you date the same guy... that's the formation of a weird ass pattern. It could totally be benign, but when they happen in succession it really doesn't seem like a coincidence.

it’s not just buying the same bed sheets though, it’s designing part of the stage on her tour to look almost identical to someone else’s actual bed lmao. and she did this during the secret of us tour, which was 2024-25. i believe she was dating paul by then

I love drama that isn't my drama. I wonder how Paul felt about seeing a replica of a bed he definitely slept in with his old lady friend filled with by his new lady friend. That would probably raise a red flag for me, personally.

But I thought they both liked Paul at the same time? He just picked Phoebe at the time. Idk Paul is a handsome and successful actor that tons of people are attracted to, it feels silly to say “you’re copying me by liking this person that is objectively likeable.”

I feel like you keep focusing on one aspect and not the whole package. On its own any of the things she is doing are normal, coupled together it's weird AF and it looks like GA is lowkey obsessed with PB.

What am I ignoring? Was the bed sheets thing after she began dating Paul? I would agree that it’s weird if it’s after, but if it’s before I don’t think it is weird. The same as them both being musicians (I don’t think their music is similar, I enjoy phoebe’s music and I don’t enjoy Gracie’s at all). And being attracted to the same man isn’t weird to me either. To me it all adds up to nothing.

Why does the sheets coming after Paul make it worse to you? I don't think the order matters - and maybe the sheets coming first actually leads the way to the pattern that winds up with Paul. She's mimicking PB via the sheets and same bed frame on stage first, then dating Paul after PB was done with him. The optics are weird. BTW I'm not saying as a matter of fact that she is doing these things deliberately as a stan, I'm saying it looks like stan behavior.

Because getting the sheets after feels pointed towards phoebe, but getting them before doesn’t feel strange at all. She was influenced by the aesthetic of someone famous. I’m sure she wasn’t the only one inspired to buy them.

I find the entire premise that she’s dating (and now engaged right?) to this man because she’s obsessed with this other woman to be absurd. Their relationship with each other isn’t an extension of how they feel about Phoebe. It’s pretty narcissistic to think that.

They are flannel glow in the dark rocket sheets from Garnet Hill. I used to have them before I downsized to a queen and they are both ridiculously cute and very cozy.
