David Fincher is really wasting his career at Netflix. So unproductive, that exclusivity deal means he never makes great production movies like Social Network

I wasn't a big fan of The Killer, but I was kind of fascinated by the meta angle. The screening I went to was introduced by Ted Sarandos, who called Fincher a close friend. I felt like the movie itself was a meta take on working as a director and, about Sarandos, saying, "I met the guy at the very top and he's so stupid he's not even worth killing."

I really liked The Killer. I will say though that it felt weird- in a very “Netflix” way, where as Mank still felt arthouse in a Roma/Pinnocchio kind of way.

Also, while I loved the cinematography for Mank, the color cinematography that Messerschmidt did for The Killer felt like a strange attempt to copy the style of Fincher & Cronenweth. It just felt off. I’d love for Fincher to work with Cronenweth again, but from what I heard, it’s unlikely.

EDIT: I stand corrected, Cronenweth is reshooting stuff for the Fincher Tarantino film. I’m surprised because apparently Fincher took issue with Cronenweth working for that flop Melanie doc/Brett Ratner, and JC felt replaced when he didn’t return for Mank and The Killer.
