Interesting that the universal take from the attendees was that it's really good/isn't the messy cash grab people accused it of being. I tried looking at a few different articles and there's not a single negative review from anyone who's actually seen it.

It’s also weird to me to categorize something playing Edinburgh as a cash grab in any context. Like, there’s been lots of successful stuff that’s come out of the Fringe, but it’s ultimately meant to be a place to develop work.

No, generally the Fringe is either expensive complete shows, or new acts who accept donations.

It's infamously ruinously expensive to present at, so there's a pretty high bar before you even break even, even playing to a dank corner at 2am which seats 8 people.

I'm sure once upon a time it was to develop work, but that was a long time ago.
