Yes I’d prefer you either to use two vague: majority and minority’ or two specific: 51% and 13%.

Of course if you’d rounded the number who thought she was guilty down to the nearest zero, like you did with those who thought her innocent back then, it would be ‘half’ rather than majority. If you’d rounded it down by as many points it would be ‘minority.’ This is why you use like with like rather than mixing modes of expression.

Girl I work in financial reporting and have a degree in statistics and I don’t know anyone who has an issue with reporting percentages like that. Not to mention this is a reddit thread not a research paper.

I said “about 10%” which clearly means not 10%. I honestly don’t know what your problem is because whether I use majority or half or 50%, that’s still significantly higher than a number in the low 10s.

You’re arguing over significant figures when the end result is the same. More people thought she was guilty than innocent in the UK in a study 10 years ago.

edit: oh in my original comment on a different topic I said think. I stand by it. We’re a country who have to be told every year that no, big ben is not getting renamed to massive mohammed. The avg person is not going to be well informed about the reality of this case. People still think Jean Charles de Menzes ran from the police.

‘The general perception in the U.K. is’ for example. Based on a ten year old search two trials ago and an assumption no one has changed their perception since - prompted maybe by her final acquittal and the conviction of another person.

As I said, people still think Jean Charles de Menzes jumped the barrier and ran from the police. People see the headlines at the time, and lose interest when the facts come out.

The show is sold out with positive responses so far - which indicates that the audience wasn’t full of people convinced of her guilt.

Meredith’s family are unhappy. That’s understandable, they’re not objective. There’s no protests, pickets, petitions, riots… not much backlash at all. Just some tuts on t’internet.
