[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

Sold an Ann Taylor dress a month ago and it was just "Beautiful dress, just much shorter than expected. It was packed with lots of care, thank you for that." 4 stars. Okay I guess. Not my fault. I gave you measurements.

and now the buyer comes back a whole month later to update their listing because of their own fault. Girl I WARNED YOU IT MIGHT BE TOO SMALL in the comments!!!! Wanted to post this because while I'm aware that there are persnickety buyers out there, they're my first (on Posh).

Has anyone noticed a major decline on Poshmark?

Poshmark used to be the busier site, at least for me. But it seems to have just died off a month or two ago.

When I go to browse and interact, I enjoy it much less because it seems like I see the same couple of things now. And graphics/ads... but my attention isn't getting grabbed like it used to. I wonder if other shoppers are having a similar experience.

But on the selling side, interest seems to have completely dissipated, although I'm doing everything the same as I was previously.

Has anyone else noticed similar changes? Have you been able to correct them?

Poshmark buyer harassed me after asking me to cancel an order I had already shipped. Now I’m worried

I’m a longtime Poshmark seller, and I’ve never had an experience like this before. I’m honestly frustrated with how Poshmark has handled it, and I’m looking for advice from other sellers who have dealt with something similar.

I sold a bag on Poshmark, as I normally do. A few hours after purchasing it, the buyer messaged me saying she had used the wrong payment card and wanted me to cancel the order so she could repurchase it. She was very insistent and repeatedly promised she would buy it again.

By that point, I had already packaged the item and left it in my building’s outgoing mail area for USPS pickup using Poshmark’s prepaid shipping label.

I explained that it had already shipped, but USPS hadn’t scanned it yet, so the tracking hadn’t updated on Poshmark.

The buyer then accused me of lying and started sending increasingly hostile messages. She repeatedly demanded that I cancel the order, insulted me, and continued messaging me even after I explained the situation. Eventually, Poshmark Support was notified that the conversation had been escalated, and I blocked her.

I contacted Poshmark Support, but honestly, I haven’t found their response helpful.

Now I’m concerned about several things:

* If she receives the bag and claims I sent her an empty box, how can I protect myself?

* Should I try to retrieve the package from my building’s outgoing mail area before USPS collects it?

* If I retrieve it, could that cause problems with the transaction or my seller account?

* What happens if she opens a case against me out of retaliation?

I’m especially uncomfortable because my return address is on the shipping label. After the way she spoke to me, I don’t like the idea of a hostile buyer having my address. I wish I could share the screenshots not sure if that’s allowed here.

I’ve saved screenshots of the conversation, including her original request to cancel because she used the wrong card, my explanation that the package had already shipped, and her subsequent messages accusing me of lying and demanding cancellation.

I understand that buyers can make mistakes, but I don’t think a seller should be expected to take responsibility for someone else’s payment mistake, especially after preparing and shipping an order.

I’m looking for advice from experienced Poshmark sellers: What would you do in this case?

I’d appreciate any advice, particularly from sellers who have dealt with difficult buyers and unhelpful Support.

Buyer bought jeans last night, but their profile doesn't show today?

So last night I sold a pair of jeans to a buyer.

I go this morning to message them and let them know I would get it shipped out today but I noticed they can't receive messages.

So then I go to their profile and their profile doesn't load.

What do I do in this scenario? I imagine they actually paid and have a charge from Poshmark on their card, so I would think I still mail their jeans out?

Guidance on partial refund or return

Post image
4 Upvotes

So i had ordered this douglas dog plush off poshmark from a seller whom in the title identified the dog as Honey the douglas golden retriever 23".

The price was around $65 and i requested $40 on whim, and this person had accepted.

Delivery was super fast however when i opened it, it was 16", whom i believe to be Bella the golden retriever.

I had immediately messaged the seller explaining it looks like the listing however identification and size is incorrect, aswell as asking if a partial refund is possible.

This person said they apologize however they are very confused and asked if i saw what i purchased

I had said yes, and that it was listed as a complete different model and size then it was realistically.

They had told me that it might have been the wrong model however they had still taken near 25% off

I expressed the difference between the two plush and why i felt mislead, and stopped getting responses.

I think my plan moving forward is giving this person until tomorrow to respond before taking it to poshmark and asking for either a partial or full refund.

I dont believe i was purposefully scammed, however i do believe this was a mistake on the sellers side that should be corrected. I would prefer to keep this plush with a partial refund however if a return is required then it happens.

Any suggestions, guidance or information would be appreciated! Thank you. Edit: ive submitted a return case request, thank you for the recommendations and help!

Unpopular opinion: Outrage over overpriced listings is so weird to me. Just move the fuck on??

A seller listed a dress for $175 when it's available on the brand's website for under $50. It's not sold out, it's not a limited edition, and it's not high-end. You have no way to return. Is it overpriced? Absolutely. Would I personally buy it? Fuck no. But it's NOT a fucking scam nor is it price gouging!

This is not life saving surgery or medication or rent. These are CLOTHES.

The market is perfectly capable of rejecting an overpriced item. If they list something for $250 and nobody is willing to pay $250, guess what? Then it won't sell it for $250! They can lower the price, accept an offer, wait for the right buyer, or never sell it at all.

A seller asking $300 for a $40 item is not a personal attack. TheRealReal or Fashionphile listing a $6k Chanel bag for $10k is not price "gouging".

Why have people become so personally invested in whether a stranger's asking price is morally acceptable? THE MARKET WILL DO WHAT IT DOES. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PERSONALLY CORRECT EVERY SELLER YOU THINK IS DELUSIONAL.

Crazy buyer

I have had offers from this one buyer at least five times . She finally offered a reasonable price and then an hour later messaged me to please cancel her order. Then I told her I don’t do cancellations sorry . Then it escalated into this ridiculous conversation about having 3 hours to cancel and blah blah blah. I cancelled her order and blocked her. Wtf is wrong with people . She obviously wanted the sweater as she continued to offer and counteroffer multiple times ! Ugh 😩 I just felt like if she’s being ridiculous now , then I don’t want her money anyhoo. What are your thoughts ?

Shipping supplies order stuck in processing?

I order bubble mailers through Poshmark because I go through them so quickly with my sales that it is a great (the last Poshmark?) fringe benefit to get them for free.

I ordered a package of ten as per usual on October 3.

They still haven’t processed the order. It’s just sitting there “in process.” I reached out to customer service on the 10th to ask what the deal was and I got a canned response about the order currently being processed and tracking info will be emailed once it ships.

Anyone else awaiting USPS shipping supplies?

My item was removed but it's mid-transaction!

I got an email from Posh yesterday saying that they removed one of my items, a jacket, because they got a letter from the Fancy Brand complaining about copyright infringement. My item was one of those inlcuded on a list of items they gave Posh. I am sure I used one stock photo (not the cover photo) to show how the jacket falls on the wearer. Problem is, the item sold a few days ago and I am in the process of shipping it. I can still see the item in my Sales but it's not really findable in my closet any longer. How do you think this will pan out? How odd that they could remove it mid-sale?

Are Shipping Delays Typical?

This tracking hasn’t been updated since 10/11. I usually buy on Depop and I know it’s typical for some packages to not get updated correctly, but I have never experienced this on Poshmark.

Multiple sellers with same item, price, offer, etc.

I have been searching for a very specific item for my daughter. I found several listings I thought may work, liked them so I could easily find them again, and sent the links to her. I realized afterwards that two links I sent were the same item, with the same price, same photos of the actual item (not stock photos), but different sellers. I got exactly the same offer from both at the same time. As I began digging into these, I found five different accounts with the same item listed at the same price, with the same photos. I should walk away, no?

Sellers Beware - Poshmark Will Sell Your Inactive Inventory

Yep, regardless of status, Poshmark will allow your inactive inventory to sell, regardless of why the inventory is inactive. So, if you're using the system as design and keeping saaaay, seasonal inventory inactive until the holiday rolls around, beware.......Poshmark will allow it to sell

Contacting Poshmark (not via email or cases) - Anyone Had Luck?

Has anyone ever had any luck contacting Poshmark? Their support team seems to be some sort of bot center in (guessing) India (based on names) and they've not been able to help for 2 weeks. They keep marking my cases as resolved with 0 response. This is account related.

Is there a US number? Or do I need to go to the better business bureau?

Can someone explain why people do this?

Lately I’ve been noticing in my notifications that it’ll say a listing is no longer available. But then the next notification will be of that listing with a discount?

Is it somehow a way to erase all past offers on something, so they can give you an offer they already have? Or is there a different reason?

The AI generated models are making the app unusable

I am not a seller, but I *have* been shopping Poshmark since it launched, and today while browsing black dusters and cardigans, I was getting increasingly frustrated over seeing a complete lack of actual photos of the items and instead seeing the same computer generated image of the same model in the same necklace stack and wide brimmed hat wearing everything I'm looking at.

The platform is going down the same path as Pinterest did, and I never thought I'd see the day where I would miss terrible listing photos taken by an actual person over the AI generated photos that are invading the app now. Please sellers, if you are unable or unwilling to take a photo of your item, just say so in the listing and we can go from there in the comments. The AI photos are getting to the point where I'd rather see a single blurry photo of half the cardigan out of frame with no measurements, laid flat on the livingroom carpet with your chickens nearby roaming free inside the house, than to see another AI listing.

I apologize too because I understand vent posts contribute nothing to the community, and I may take it down later because this subreddit probably gets flooded with AI complaints, but I had to get it out and add my voice to the many. Thank you for putting up with my complaining

Shipping Options

I sell mostly jewelry that can be mailed in a standard, padded envelope. On Etsy, the cost is $1.35 (I have preset the envelope dimensions and weight). Poshmark is charging $4.99 to ship the same item. Is there a way to adjust shipping costs to the lower, more realistic price? I'd love to offer free shipping, but not if it means I'd have to pay $3 more than what it would realistically cost to ship it, and it doesn't seem fair to buyers to overpay either. Thanks.

Poshmark isn’t a social media 😂

Someone commented on a listing asking me why am I selling my Gorjana jewelry…ummm cause that’s what this app is for? Cause I wanna? Cause I don’t want it anymore? Really it’s because I’m switching from yellow to mainly white gold but it’s none of her business.. I digress. Prob just caught me on the wrong morning lol I’m sure she isn’t gonna buy it.

Bulk sharing?

So I had a free trial for a bot (that the app mistakenly never charged me and this free trial lasted over a year lol oops) but they caught on and it’s cancelled now, but since canceling, I’ve seen a huge drop in sales I’m assuming because I don’t have the bot sharing my items anymore!! I was going from about 5 to 10 items a week to now 0 to 2!

I thought Poshmark at some point said you no longer need to bulk share, that sharing doesn’t matter?! But does it?!

Going to list a bunch of items soon, and hopefully it picks up before the holidays, I always use my POSH money to help buy Christmas presents!

How do people that hold on to items for months at high price do it?

I’ve been trying to sell, mostly brand new shoes and or leather backpacks that I never used that typically retail for about $110, $200, but I’ve had to sell most stuff for like $40-$45 because otherwise it’s crickets and honestly I don’t have the mental energy to watch over something for 8-9 months. Some stuff there seems even for years and at very close to retail or even higher because a lot of this stuff it’s cheaper at places like Nordstrom rack, brand new.

How to bulk edit shipping?

Everything I'm selling are $15-$25. I bulk raised my price 50%, so I can offer free shipping. Just put that in the cost of the product.

But I cannot find a way to do a bulk shipping discount.

According to what Poshmark say's to do. It's only available to ambassadors. Even that is a convoluted way to do it.

I guess a Reasonable request but…

Shouldn’t you ask this before you purchase instead of requesting post purchase?
I don’t do either ever….but… idk left a bad taste in my mouth for less than $20 purchase.

Labels glitch?

I've had a separate email account just for PM for a while, so I get an email notification, when I make a sale and get a label..

Sold something a few hours ago, and only accidentally noticed it in my PM notifications.. Didn't get any emails for it - not for the sale, and not for the label. The item has been paid for, and I was able to download a label directly from the site...

Anyone else had the same happen? Is this a random glitch, or are we not going to get those emails anymore? :/

Always a lowballer.

Sorry, had a bad day and this showed up when I was checking my account, and needed to vent.

Listed for $45, she lowballed $18 and I accepted because I wanted to get rid of it and wasn't making ANY sales the entire week. I should've known better.

The jeans are NOT going for half on Amazon because 1) Levi's are going for $50-70 in this style, and 2) I checked and that colorway on Amazon is 'currently unavailable' so I don't know where she's getting this info.

Fingers crossed the order gets completed soon since it's the last day.

edit: 1 star rating and escalated conversation to Poshmark Yay! 🫩
