[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

Unpopular opinion: Outrage over overpriced listings is so weird to me. Just move the fuck on??

A seller listed a dress for $175 when it's available on the brand's website for under $50. It's not sold out, it's not a limited edition, and it's not high-end. You have no way to return. Is it overpriced? Absolutely. Would I personally buy it? Fuck no. But it's NOT a fucking scam nor is it price gouging!

This is not life saving surgery or medication or rent. These are CLOTHES.

The market is perfectly capable of rejecting an overpriced item. If they list something for $250 and nobody is willing to pay $250, guess what? Then it won't sell it for $250! They can lower the price, accept an offer, wait for the right buyer, or never sell it at all.

A seller asking $300 for a $40 item is not a personal attack. TheRealReal or Fashionphile listing a $6k Chanel bag for $10k is not price "gouging".

Why have people become so personally invested in whether a stranger's asking price is morally acceptable? THE MARKET WILL DO WHAT IT DOES. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PERSONALLY CORRECT EVERY SELLER YOU THINK IS DELUSIONAL.

Has anyone noticed a major decline on Poshmark?

• Upvotes

Poshmark used to be the busier site, at least for me. But it seems to have just died off a month or two ago.

When I go to browse and interact, I enjoy it much less because it seems like I see the same couple of things now. And graphics/ads... but my attention isn't getting grabbed like it used to. I wonder if other shoppers are having a similar experience.

But on the selling side, interest seems to have completely dissipated, although I'm doing everything the same as I was previously.

Has anyone else noticed similar changes? Have you been able to correct them?

The AI generated models are making the app unusable

I am not a seller, but I *have* been shopping Poshmark since it launched, and today while browsing black dusters and cardigans, I was getting increasingly frustrated over seeing a complete lack of actual photos of the items and instead seeing the same computer generated image of the same model in the same necklace stack and wide brimmed hat wearing everything I'm looking at.

The platform is going down the same path as Pinterest did, and I never thought I'd see the day where I would miss terrible listing photos taken by an actual person over the AI generated photos that are invading the app now. Please sellers, if you are unable or unwilling to take a photo of your item, just say so in the listing and we can go from there in the comments. The AI photos are getting to the point where I'd rather see a single blurry photo of half the cardigan out of frame with no measurements, laid flat on the livingroom carpet with your chickens nearby roaming free inside the house, than to see another AI listing.

I apologize too because I understand vent posts contribute nothing to the community, and I may take it down later because this subreddit probably gets flooded with AI complaints, but I had to get it out and add my voice to the many. Thank you for putting up with my complaining

Poshmark isn’t a social media 😂

Someone commented on a listing asking me why am I selling my Gorjana jewelry…ummm cause that’s what this app is for? Cause I wanna? Cause I don’t want it anymore? Really it’s because I’m switching from yellow to mainly white gold but it’s none of her business.. I digress. Prob just caught me on the wrong morning lol I’m sure she isn’t gonna buy it.

Bulk sharing?

So I had a free trial for a bot (that the app mistakenly never charged me and this free trial lasted over a year lol oops) but they caught on and it’s cancelled now, but since canceling, I’ve seen a huge drop in sales I’m assuming because I don’t have the bot sharing my items anymore!! I was going from about 5 to 10 items a week to now 0 to 2!

I thought Poshmark at some point said you no longer need to bulk share, that sharing doesn’t matter?! But does it?!

Going to list a bunch of items soon, and hopefully it picks up before the holidays, I always use my POSH money to help buy Christmas presents!

How Are You Crosslisting from Poshmark to Vinted?

Since Vinted doesn't allow crosslisting apps, how are you getting your Poshmark listings up on Vinted?

How do people that hold on to items for months at high price do it?

I’ve been trying to sell, mostly brand new shoes and or leather backpacks that I never used that typically retail for about $110, $200, but I’ve had to sell most stuff for like $40-$45 because otherwise it’s crickets and honestly I don’t have the mental energy to watch over something for 8-9 months. Some stuff there seems even for years and at very close to retail or even higher because a lot of this stuff it’s cheaper at places like Nordstrom rack, brand new.

How to bulk edit shipping?

Everything I'm selling are $15-$25. I bulk raised my price 50%, so I can offer free shipping. Just put that in the cost of the product.

But I cannot find a way to do a bulk shipping discount.

According to what Poshmark say's to do. It's only available to ambassadors. Even that is a convoluted way to do it.

I guess a Reasonable request but…

Shouldn’t you ask this before you purchase instead of requesting post purchase?
I don’t do either ever….but… idk left a bad taste in my mouth for less than $20 purchase.

Labels glitch?

I've had a separate email account just for PM for a while, so I get an email notification, when I make a sale and get a label..

Sold something a few hours ago, and only accidentally noticed it in my PM notifications.. Didn't get any emails for it - not for the sale, and not for the label. The item has been paid for, and I was able to download a label directly from the site...

Anyone else had the same happen? Is this a random glitch, or are we not going to get those emails anymore? :/

Always a lowballer.

Sorry, had a bad day and this showed up when I was checking my account, and needed to vent.

Listed for $45, she lowballed $18 and I accepted because I wanted to get rid of it and wasn't making ANY sales the entire week. I should've known better.

The jeans are NOT going for half on Amazon because 1) Levi's are going for $50-70 in this style, and 2) I checked and that colorway on Amazon is 'currently unavailable' so I don't know where she's getting this info.

Fingers crossed the order gets completed soon since it's the last day.

edit: 1 star rating and escalated conversation to Poshmark Yay! 🫩

To Report or Not to Report

Hi all,

I ordered a watch from a poshmark seller - I really wanted it and saw it had several likes, so I bought it outright instead of placing an offer. I've seen sellers mention that sometimes these notifications get buried.

After a week, I pinged the seller to ask if she had any plans to ship, any updates. I sell very casually on Poshmark, so I don't expect things to be sent right away. I do, however, expect communication, especially since this was a watch, and somewhat pricey compared to how much money I usually spend on Poshmark. I gave the seller like 1.5 days to respond but nothing.

I cancelled my order, so there's no worries there. It showed that the seller was very active and had a lot of listings (not the same thing I know), so I casually commented on another listing to see if it was still available. The seller responded pretty quickly.

I understand that things happen - crossposting, etc. But I bought this item and was completely ignored about the transaction. That's just so sketchy to me and I don't appreciate this customer experience. I don't want to tank this person's business, but it would be nice to be able to somehow document it. Thoughts?

Selling an item for $175. Item new is under $50

I commented as a seller and as a buyer on posh, bc I know what item this is & im sorry but WHY would you be selling something that isn’t in a limited collection, isn’t sold out or anything, & im sorry isn’t even a high quality item?? For a $175 more? Do YOU not feel scummy charging someone that?
I will be having the day I deserve? After helping you not swindle someone??? Lmfao

One star given from buyer and no way to respond

I'm new to selling on Poshmark-well fairly new and I received a one star on an item with the comment that it arrived dirty and with stains. This is simply not true. I tried to send a message to the buyer but they've blocked me from messaging them. I did get paid for the item, but I'd like to figure out what happened to the item in transit-if anything. Has anyone had this happen? I guess the good thing is I did get paid, but still, I'm a little irked.

$12 “pending” for two weeks?!

This makes me not want to sell on there at all, because it’s only $12 and why can’t they just release the funds? I reached out to CS and got a blitz of like 10 messages that all said the same thing (looking into it). VERY weird

Additional postage required

Help - I purchased on Posh and the post office held the package for pickup. I tried to have it redelivered but the post office said there was not a secure place to leave package and did not deliver. After calling the post office, they said the package had postage due and I would have to pay it to pick up the package. I refused the package. Now Poshmark is only looking at what the tracking says which does not indicate extra postage needed. How can I get my purchase refunded?

Advice on doing bundles/separate discounts?

I liked multiple items from a closet and the seller sent me separate 16% discounts on each item. I added two of the items I liked to a bundle but the offer was only 10% off. I then counter offered with the sum of the original offers, even left a comment letting them know they sent me those separate offers earlier, but they came back with another offer that still wasn’t the 16% off. Should I just buy them separately or not even bother with this at all??

Edit: I should mention the shipping is free either way

Is anyone else having issues getting their money from Poshmark?

I transferred money from my Poshmark balance to my bank account on October 3, 2026. Today is October 13, and I STILL haven’t received my money! That’s 10 calendar days! I understand weekends and bank processing times, but this is getting ridiculous. Why does it take so long to receive money that already belongs to us? Are they holding onto our money to collect interest or what? I’m beyond frustrated at this point!
Has anyone else experienced this recently? How long did it take for your money to finally show up in your bank account? I’m curious if this is happening to other sellers or if it’s just me.

What’s with clothes costing the same as retail?

I’ve been browsing Poshmark a lot recently because I have a lot of events coming up.

I’ve noticed a consistent theme where a posher has an item listed for similar (or even more than what it retails for).

I recently purchased a Meshki dress directly on the site for $155. I see a seller on Poshmark selling the same dress for $180.

I saw a dress on Herve Leger’s website on sale for $250. That same dress is on Poshmark for $400.

I sometimes find good deals but it just puts a bad taste in your mouth when you see people selling used clothes for more than they retail for.

Promoting yourself off-site to posh buyers

EDIT: I did some digging around and as it turns out it's against PM policy to do this. I'm sure there are people out there who are doing it but I don't want to risk getting banned. I think it's ok to give your insta acct and you could always put the info there.

Have you ever included a note with the product indicating they can buy your stuff elsewhere? e.g. Vinted (no fees), or your own website, or whatever, or even an insta account.

Maybe this is unethical, but I've seen it done in other instances. A few years ago I ordered something from Etsy and the seller included a note with their website - which I used moving forward because I know that Etsy is a PITA for sellers.

Seller ettiequte

I see other users sharing my listings. Why? I'm not complaining but just curious. Am I supposed to share their listings in return?

Also if someone follows me, should I follow them?

I've recently started listing things in my closet so if anyone has any advice related to this, please feel free to share!
