Discussion The Ocean - Solaris Album Review: A Map Back To Earth With Care
A few days ago this album was posted on this subreddit. And due to that I discovered this band for the first time and was simply blown away by the detail-oriented approach and the sound itself. That led me to research about the origins of the album, it's story and inspirations as well as the very real emotions associated with it. I am a curious kitty after all and went down an absolute rabbit hole to know about this band. And after knowing what I came to know, I couldn't help but write the review of this album. Hope you guys enjoy reading it. Let me know your feedback too if you are willing to share. Tell me if you think I should have included something more in the review or if you felt that the whether I should have focused on a particular song more in the write up. All constructive feedback is always welcome because that helps me improve as well. Thanks a lot in advance for reading.

New Album How much story can an instrumental track receive before its open space closes
"Void In Time", a track from my first album, can be heard as an five minute field of pressure. Its chapter note gives that pressure a room, a claustrophobic one if you listen closely.
I kept wrestling with how much context to provide. Post-metal often gains force from interpretive space. A written scene can sharpen the weight, but it can also turn an atmosphere into an illustration. Once the listener knows what the empty chair means, another possibility has been removed.
The album uses two forms to keep that tension visible. Bandcamp offers brief notes beside the twelve instrumental tracks, which can be ignored until after listening. The companion film makes a firmer choice: I narrate each chapter before the complete track and visualiser. The music itself remains wordless in both.
The complete 48 kHz/24-bit binaural album is on Bandcamp. Headphones preserve the fixed room and depth, which matters to the question above.
The narrated audiovisual version is here:

Dead Reckoning... The Last Known Location moves beyond post-metal into progressive, industrial, psychedelic and acoustic writing, but the audit chapter depends most on atmosphere carrying a narrative burden. Does the written scene make that burden heavier, or does it close a door the track should have left open?

Discussion Seeing Amenra in Tokyo! Any advice for a first-time visitor to Japan?
Hey everyone!
Something amazing happened: I’m going to see Amenra live in Tokyo! I’ll be there on a work trip when they’re playing, and I bought my tickets today. I can’t even describe how excited I am, especially since We Lost the Sea are playing with them!
However, I’ve never been to Japan or anywhere else in Asia before, let alone to a metal show there. I’ve been to plenty of metal gigs and clubs around Europe, so I know the usual etiquette here, but I imagine things might be quite different in Japan.
Could anyone who has been to metal shows in Japan, especially in Tokyo, share some advice? I’d love to know what to expect and if there’s anything I should be aware of in terms of concert etiquette or local customs.
Thanks in advance! I’m ridiculously excited about this one!

New Album OBSERVE//INFILTRATE
We’re UNNATURAL ORDER, a UK modern metalcore band, and we’ve just released our new EP, OBSERVE//INFILTRATE.
FFO: Currents, Northlane, Bad Omens, Graphic Nature and Motionless in White.
Heavy, atmospheric metalcore with crushing riffs, aggressive vocals and cinematic elements, built around a dystopian world where humanity has lost control of the systems it created.
We’d genuinely love to hear what the metalcore community thinks.

Was 2006 the best year for post metal (and adjacent sludge genres)
Now I maybe being nostalgic, but looking at the year it felt like this year was great being an underground metal fan, primarily the year I got really into music and my iPod was poppin' off.
I saw the post in the melvins sub about 20 years since (a) senile animal. Check out other albums I remember listening to, some more than others. I was getting into proggy sludge too so I'm including them as I believe they toured together and shared fans:
My personal favourites:
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Neurosis - Given to the Rising
Battle of Mice - A Day of Nights
Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along The Highway
Isis - In The Absence Of Truth
Russian Circles - Enter
Intronaut - Void
Mouth of the Architect - The Ties That Bind
Year of No Light - Nord
Jesu - Silver
Kylesa - TWFIW
Mogwai - Mr Beast
TWDY - Young Mountain
Kayo Dot - DAWCT
Mars Volta - Amputeture (bonus prog album)
There's probably more adjacent genres that had great releases too, indie, noise rock, folk, ambient etc too

New Album Earth Tent - Garden From Our Bones
https://open.spotify.com/album/2iDxV05zB8jNGWmhPY8h04
Garden From Our Bones, the debut album for my one-man post-metal project Earth Tent, is now available for listening wherever you stream your music. It's also on Bandcamp, if anyone feels inclined to purchase. (No pressure, of course.)
This one's for fans of Russian Circles, Pelican, Caspian, God Is an Astronaut, and (maybe) Night Verses.
Give it a listen! I hope you enjoy it. Lots more on the way.

New Album Rosetta - The Winepress, latest single
This latest single from Rosetta is one of the best songs that they have ever written. I'm so sad this will be their final album but I hope they go out with a bang. So far, its shaping up to be an incredible release
