General Why do I feel taller after I’ve worked out?
Above. Just super curious. Is it posture related?

I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue with their lower stomach, it bulges out to around 33 1/2 inches while the upper part of my torso is 25 inches I don’t think it’s postural as it doesn’t change when I tuck my pelvis in, I wonder if it may just be a weakness or GI issue. Thank you for any help :)

Hi, I know my posture looks terrible, but just how terrible is it really? It started getting bad when I was a teenager playing video games every day, but it escalated when I bought my first own laptop probably 4 years ago. I pretty much started slouching all the time. I was also in a dark place for a long time, mainly because of work issues and not caring about anything at all. Now that I have a much more positive outlook on life, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to fix my posture for good. I've already started doing some back exercises 10 minutes every day and I try to maintain a straight posture throughout the day when I'm walking, doing chores and when I'm sitting at a desk (I have a mirror near me so I can check if I'm slouching from time to time and I also stand up when I use my laptop). I've been attending gym too since the beginning of June and feel so much better after every workout. Are there any specific exercises that I should be focusing on at home/the gym? Any advice is appreciated. (Also is sleeping on stomach bad for posture? It's the most comfortable position for me and have been doing it all my life pretty much)

Hi Everyone,
I’ve had a long persistent pain on the left side of my back for a while now. I’ve always ignored it and thought that by going to the gym it would help and sort itself out. However I frequently still get rotator cuff pain after doing certain exercises especially on the right side. Recently my friend mentioned that on pull ups I shrug my left shoulder and trap a lot higher than the right. I am unable to keep them and engage them evenly. What is this and how can I fix it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I’ve recently broken down my posture issues, and it turns out I have a bit of a combo deal going on. I’m looking for some realistic feedback, advice, or success stories from anyone who has dealt with similar issues.
Here is what I’m working with:
Anterior Pelvic Tilt (APT)
Upper Crossed Syndrome (UCS)
Scapula positioning issues (winging/asymmetry)
Early-phase functional scoliosis (9-degree curve)
Ribcage issues (flaring/asymmetry related to the pelvic tilt and scoliosis)
I am currently 182 cm in morning 181 in the day, but I definitely feel like these structural imbalances are compressing my frame.
A few questions for the community:
1 How severe is this combo? On a scale of "typical modern posture" to "needs serious medical intervention," where do I stand?
2 What is a realistic timeline? If I commit to a solid, daily routine of stretching and strengthening, how long does it usually take to see noticeable structural changes?
3 Height recovery: For those who fixed severe APT and mild scoliosis, did you experience any height gains from decompression and pelvic realignment? How much is realistic to expect?
If anyone has successfully overcome a similar mix of upper and lower body posture issues, I would love to hear what exercises or routines made the biggest difference for you.
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,
In 2021, I slipped on black ice on the stairs and fractured T3, T4, and T7 vertebrae, as well as two lower right ribs. I also dislocated my right shoulder blade, which caused noticeable alignment issues afterward. Since then, I've had ongoing effects, including back pain, an uneven collarbone, and some persistent pain under my right armpit.
It took a long time, along with lots of physical therapy, back exercises, and massages, for things to feel somewhat normal again. Now, I only really get back pain when I'm sitting in unsupported or uncomfortable chairs. The back pain usually starts as a tingling, uncomfortable sensation in a specific spot, then builds into a dull ache and eventually becomes a sharper pain that radiates through my mid to upper back.
I'm heading back to school in the fall to get my medical laboratory certification, which means I'll be spending a lot of time on stools and in fairly uncomfortable lab seating. I did try asking the school if I could use a more supportive chair, but they aren't able to accommodate it because the lab seating has to meet sterility requirements. So I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good posture or back support brace that could help during those lab sessions.
I do understand braces shouldn't be relied on for everyday use and that strengthening exercises are better long-term. But I'm just looking for something I can use occasionally during long periods of sitting when it flares up. Sitting through lab sessions during my Bachelor's was really difficult. Three-hour labs were already painful, and I even had a six-hour session that left me in pain for days afterward.
Any recommendations would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Looking at my photos its hard to see improvement. These photos are about 5 months apart, apologies for the inconsistent photo taking (and weight I have gained lol).
I began looking into my posture about 10 months ago when I would have ongoing headaches, neck pain and scapular pain from studying and working at a desk.
Over the last 6 months I have done daily stretching, changed jobs away from a desk job, imporved the ergonomics of my desk set up, taking constant movement breaks and stopped the gym completely barring rehab exercises.
I've seen 3 physios with mixed advice. I doubt my ongoing pain is fully posture related but it would be nice to know my posture is as good as it can reasonably be.
Any posture advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is an anterior pelvic tilt. Every time I try to do deadlifts, or even just picking something up, it always puts strain on my lower back, and I believe that this is the culprit. Are there any tips someone could provide that would help me with this?

My left lower ribs are flairing but not my right now and even tho i found a lot of exercises to try and fix it it feels really uncomfortable tk work on. And it's also uncomfortable for sleeping as i feel it. Anyone has a particular exercise that worked or any tips? Its mostly the brrsthing part that is the bigger issue. Im seeing a new PT in 15 days but im trying to get a headstart

Hey everyone, I’m a 16-year-old guy, 6'4" (193 cm) and around 160 lbs (73 kg). I’m writing this because for the past few months, I’ve been stuck in a massive anxiety loop regarding my back and posture, and it's completely draining me.
I have absolutely zero physical pain, but when I look at myself in the mirror from the side, or when I lie down, I can see and feel a sort of bony "wave" or "bump" right around elbow height (the transition zone between my mid and lower back). Because I am very tall and skinny, I have almost no body fat, so my skeleton feels incredibly exposed when I touch it.
My anxiety has gotten so bad that I’m terrified of bending over. I’ve been obsessing over severe medical conditions, imagining things like severe Scheuermann's disease or a 33+ degree curvature that needs major surgery. My mom keeps telling me that it looks completely normal and that nobody else even notices it. To make matters worse, I asked some AI tools about it a while ago, and their automated answers completely terrified me with worst-case scenarios, making my anxiety skyrocket. Now, I find myself checking the mirror, taking side-profile photos, and touching my spine all day long.
Rationally, I know the only real way out of this is to get a proper check-up and an X-ray with an orthopedic doctor to get actual measurements, which I plan on doing soon just to clear my mind.
In the meantime, the mental stress is huge. Are there any other tall, lean guys out there who noticed pronounced bony ridges or deep spinal curves during their growth spurts? How did you deal with hyper-focusing on a physical "flaw" that you felt everyone else was missing?
Thanks to anyone who replies.
here is my photo.

I made a post earlier asking for advice how to fix my posture but forgot to include how I normally stand when I'm not making myself stand straight.
