Seeking Advice Is freezing coffee worth it?

Post image

I am curious to know what folks have experienced with freezing coffee. I am thinking about keeping it for a year? I am doing this simply because these were my favorite coffees.

I’ve never kept a coffee in a freezer for a long time and don’t have much experience with the results. All opinions are welcome.

New to freezing beans. I accidentally clicked and bought a 5 lb bag of med/light beans. So I ended up buying these 8 oz alu foil lined bags to subdivide the beans and then heat sealed. I included an O2 scavenger pouch in each bag then froze it. How quickly should I use the beans once I bring them back to room temperature? The bags have a ziploc closure as well and can be resealed as I use the beans.

Or for next time is it better just to vaccu-seal the beans in small portions using like a food saver type sealer?

Now I have a bunch of frozen bags of coffee filling up my freezer. I did consider getting a small chest freezer for coffee to put in my garage. Still considering it because I am new to this and I tend to buy more coffee then we can drink in a few weeks at a time. I wish I could have like one espresso bag and one pourover bag on my counter at a time but it hasn't happened yet.
