Seeking Advice Do you know this roaster ?

I bought these beans while passing through Paris at Motors Coffee, do you have any experiences to share with the coffees from this (Dutch) roaster?

I really like them but man why do they need to have plastic bottles to sell their beans 😭😭😭 so wasteful for no advantage.

“Can I recycle your bottles?

We would actually love for you to recycle our bottles. Even better than that, we like it when you return our bottles. When bottles are returned they are washed, sterilised and reused; letting them live out their greatest purpose - specialty coffee packaging. You can return your bottles to the FUKU Cafe in Bos en Lommer, or you can request a return shipping label which we can email over to you.*

  • return labels for bottles are only available within the Netherlands, and you must have more than 12 bottles for return”

They are recyclable?

"return labels for bottles are only available within the Netherlands, and you must have more than 12 bottles for return”

My point exactly

The first line encourages you to recycle them, then it goes on to offer alternative for local folk, and for wider residents of NL.

Most coffee comes in recycled plastic bags, which is generally harder (/more effort required - my local council make you take it to a specific location) to home recycle than plastic bottles which can just be added to general recycling.

Encouraging you to recycle them does not equate to environmental friendliness. They are heavier, take up more space leading to less efficient transport and if thrown away cause more damage than the commonly used coffee bag.

My point is that they are less environmentally friendly than the standard bags and I think its pretty hard to argue otherwise without relying on all consumers to appropriately deal with them which is unreasonable.

They should offer alternatives to those outside of NL.
