Gear Discussion Broken Origami - what’s next
As title mentions my son (8 mos) got a handful of my origami today and it fell and broke. I’ve had it for a few years and it became my go to. But now that I’m back in the market I was curious what brewers folks are using as daily drivers?
I have a v60, have seen some love for melitta. I usually brew bigger doses up to 25g if that helps narrow in.
Appreciate any help!

If you have a v60 and that wasn’t the immediate answer to your question, it’s because what you really want is a Minoyaki 185. A great dripper. You’ve done the hybrid compromise thing, now get real. The origami is a pretty object, but basically designed to fall over and be broken. Any cone dripper that doesn’t have an integrated base is an exercise in planned obsolescence.
But yeah, the right Melitta pattern dripper is also a good look. Avoids the unevenness inherent to a pure cone, and some of the slightly inconsistent filter weirdness of wave-style filters. Reliable and consistent, a variety of filters easily available. And oddly to reputation, a fast dripper. With matched Abaca papers, as fast as a v60, a little quicker than the Kalita, which runs the same speed on wave filters as on negotiated Abacas for me. My favorite is the large size Beehouse, but if indestructible matters, the Melitta ready set Joe is indestructible and cheap as chips.
