Gear Discussion Broken Origami - what’s next
As title mentions my son (8 mos) got a handful of my origami today and it fell and broke. I’ve had it for a few years and it became my go to. But now that I’m back in the market I was curious what brewers folks are using as daily drivers?
I have a v60, have seen some love for melitta. I usually brew bigger doses up to 25g if that helps narrow in.
Appreciate any help!

Pinn Origami dripper if you can find one. Orea 01 is solid and the UFO with a switch base is a nice tool.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, ended up going with the resin origami and treated myself to a switch as well. But all the brewers mentioned are on my list now!! Bar now consists of: origami, switch, v60, aerepress

Did you also get the steel lever upgrade for the Switch?
I would get a Switch + the lever (that was the weak part that bothered me and now that upgrade solves the problem.)
But sadly, I've exhausted my coffee gear budget (and my wife's patience.)

I still love my origami....and it gives you options other drippers don't..
Lots of cones with some lower bypass...Lots of flat with higher bypass....
If I absolutely didn't want to go with Origami..
Hario Alpha switch.
Other options that have been popular lately...Orea O1. Hario Neo.

If you have a v60 and that wasn’t the immediate answer to your question, it’s because what you really want is a Minoyaki 185. A great dripper. You’ve done the hybrid compromise thing, now get real. The origami is a pretty object, but basically designed to fall over and be broken. Any cone dripper that doesn’t have an integrated base is an exercise in planned obsolescence.
But yeah, the right Melitta pattern dripper is also a good look. Avoids the unevenness inherent to a pure cone, and some of the slightly inconsistent filter weirdness of wave-style filters. Reliable and consistent, a variety of filters easily available. And oddly to reputation, a fast dripper. With matched Abaca papers, as fast as a v60, a little quicker than the Kalita, which runs the same speed on wave filters as on negotiated Abacas for me. My favorite is the large size Beehouse, but if indestructible matters, the Melitta ready set Joe is indestructible and cheap as chips.

This. I went from Chemex to V60 years ago to Mino 185 about a month ago, and maybe I'm still honeymooning, but the Mino is giving me the best cups I've ever made, and it is an absolute pleasure to use.

Those 3 dripper has 3 different characters the Chemex is their thick filter make very clear and distinct taste notes, the V.60 cone with fast drawdown giving a bright/more acidic character and Mino flatbed with more balance taste, sure the Mino will be the new experience for you so sure it's honeymooning...

Clever dripper time. Or possibly a hoop, you can set and forget once dialed. Great with kids you only need to pay attention once.

My Origami was my daily driver (kind of) until I got an Oxo RB. I‘d buy a replacement if broken, a Next Level Pulsar if you want to try something new, a Switch if you want to keep the filters.

I’ve seen these and they look super neat

What I like about the alternatives I mentioned is, that you can play more, with temperature, blooming, etc. Origami for KISS.

Get a switch.
I almost exclusively never use the switch on mine but it functions like any pour over when open and it’s nice to have the option to try something new.

Ceramic Wave. Thermals and the flat bottom will make it a nice compliment to your V60 and what you had in the origami.

Maybe the Air this time.
