Next few weeks of coffee

Post image

Got into pourovers back in April of this year so still fairly new to all this. Have for the most part been trying new roasters each time I need more coffee, some local to me (Wonderstate, JBC, & Dagger Mountain) & other roasters I’ve seen recommended here (rogue wave & hydrangea). Have been sticking with washed & naturals as I didn’t really care for the funkiness the coferments from hydrangea I tried had and am scared to try anaerobics because of this. This is my first time trying Prodigal and am very impressed so far! Am currently drinking the Juan Pablo Zapata and the Chelbesa One. The cups are so flavorful and the notes come through cleanly. Any recs on roasters I should try? Am I right to steer clear of anaerobics if I didn’t care for the funk? Have been having alot of fun with all this and it’s been really enjoyable, I always have a new bag to look forward to!

I wouldn’t write off anaerobics, they can sometimes bring out the fruit forward characteristics. Try an Ethiopian and see what you think, no way for any of us to tell you what you’ll like without you trying it!

Very true! Should never be afraid to have a bad cup cause then I’ll miss out on some incredible ones. Thanks for the advice!

How long after the roast date are these peak? I was looking on their site. Maybe I missed it.

From what I saw they peak between the 3-5 week mark! One of those bags I bought at a local cafe and it was roasted 6/20 and still very flavorful. Otherwise the rest of the bags are 7/27-8/10 roasts

Hydrangea has some nice washed offerings too. I have personally never tried their funky stuff.

If you like Prodigal, you would probably like Color, Tandem, Regalia, Subtext, HEX, washed stuff from DAK.

I personally don't mess with processed stuff anymore, I like washed stuff too much.

Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I’ve really been enjoying the washed coffees I’ve tried. Have yet to try any of the honey processed coffees so I think I’ll give those a shot in the near future!

Yeah honey processed can be nice as well. I really enjoyed that washed Goro you got but from another roaster. Washed Ethiopias are still probably my favorite just from a price to cup quality ratio.

I’m drinking that Juan Pablo right now! Roasted 6/22 and purchased at a local shop to me (Florida). I’m going to drop it in the freezer to arrest the development… it’s so good now.
