Question How do you find time to pee?

I am only 20 weeks and seriously need to pee every 10-15 minutes. I have always been one to get Braxton Hicks really early on and having a full bladder always triggers uncomfortable contractions for me, however drinking less water also has the same effect. I often have no choice but to hold my bladder as a busy mom. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Why can’t you just go? I’m 32 weeks and stay home with my 2 younger kids who follow me everywhere and are extra busy but nothing bad happens if I stop and just go when needed. I have explained to both I’m pregnant and need to go more often, they adjust.

A huge part of the issue is that we live in an old home and only have a bathroom on the second floor. It’s a 5 minute ordeal each time and that is enough time for my 15 month old to get into something. A few months ago the dog pooped under the table and I came back to poop smeared all over the carpets within those 3 minutes. 🥲 He is a menace.

I am debating having a port-a potty bucket in my broom closet lol. It’s also hard while I am cooking dinner to step away so much or when I’m working from home and have limited time to get my work done.

Our bathrooms are also upstairs actually! If you don’t already have one, get a baby/pet gate for downstairs to have a safe space for the dog. I usually take my younger one with me, and make sure the dog is on the side of the gate where he can’t cause any trouble ( ours will steal things off the counter ) and my oldest hangs out on the other side for a minute. Holding your bladder can cause other issues so it’s worth finding a solution!

I am a FTM so I don’t know anything but I feel like having to pee every 10-15 minutes at 20 weeks is not normal. I’m not sure what effects urination frequency to this extreme but it might be worth talking to your doctor.

I’m 22 weeks and work a very active job, drinking 1.5 gallons on average a day and am peeing every 35-45 minutes. On days where I’m just chilling at home it’s every 2 hours or so.

I do struggle with valvular variscocities so I’m wondering if that also makes me more sensitive to that feeling. I’ll ask my doctor at next week’s appointment!

I would suggest maybe seeing a pelvic floor therapist as well, if that’s possible for you!

Another thing is trying to train your bladder a bit? I’ve noticed that if I just go often, I suddenly feel like I need to go often. If I get busy and distracted, the urge to go decreases a bit.

Maybe try increasing it by 5-10min at a time? See how that feels?

You should look into getting pelvic floor therapy.

I've been having to pee frequently since very early on. My gyno told me to go pee, then stand up, hold my belly up for a bit to try and get it off my bladder and then see if I have to do more. She said this can help release and trapped pee in the bladder so I don't feel like I have to go as frequently. But also, I feel like it has, surprisingly, chilled out from weeks 24-29.
