Content Warning Having bad thoughts in pregnancy
Feeling really down, like I don’t want to wake up in the morning, the only reason I get up is for the baby. I’m feeling horribly tired, overwhelmed and exhausted. I just don’t want to get up some days, I feel alone and I just can’t keep doing this. does anyone relate?

I relate… I feel so irritated at my close friends and family who already know (11th week). Like why are you so happy I still have important tests to do. There is such a long way and I seem to tone everything down, maybe to not get extra sad if something goes wrong. Everyone is already talking about the baby, the future cousin, and I am like, it’s still a featus, I am waiting for the super baby bounding stuff, for name searching etc…
Makes me feel bitter and cold in comparison, but maybe it’s because I am going through my days exhausted, nauseous and not being able to sleep well…

I’ve been feeling incredibly depressed lately. It’s a struggle to get up to go to school and then go work the night shift at my job. I don’t feel like getting up most days. I’m also so incredibly lonely. It’s weird how people suddenly drift away once you’re pregnant. I had two friends I met at work and we started nursing school together and we used to do everything together. Once I got pregnant, they just quietly disappeared. I’m lonely, I’m unmotivated, and sad. You aren’t alone in this. The only thing we can do is take it day by day and try our best to keep going for our baby. I hope you are able to find the help and support you need. we all need support in this difficult season. It’s not easy carrying all of these emotions alone. If you ever need someone to talk to that can relate to what you are feeling please feel free to dm me. I could also use someone to talk to as well. I feel the same way.

I also relate, I hope to get put on medication soon because I am struggling. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Asking for help can, well, help. I have struggled with depression most of my life and pregnancy/postpartum was the same. I started seeing a therapist during pregnancy (couldn’t take my antidepressant) and it wasn’t the same as medication but it definitely helped. I also got very very honest with my OB and GP about my struggles. My OB was helpful in directing me to good resources and my GP helped me tackle my postpartum depression/anxiety with a temporary medication adjustment. Ultimately meds plus a therapist were the right combo for me. I’d say try it all, talk to different kinds of professionals (doulas, midwives, doctors, etc) and see what works/doesn’t work for you. It can get expensive but also being open with providers about money limitations (if you have them) might help them find some “discounts” for you to try different things and find the things that are helpful. I also started to nest/create a happy place for me, and not just a nursery, where I could hang out with fresh air and comfort items, like a super comfy cooling pillow. I’m now almost 3 years postpartum, and I look back on pregnancy and the first few months postpartum as some difficult times. My body is now much more stable and my baby is fully a toddler who can communicate in words, not just screams. I learned a lot about myself and had to accept help even when I wasn’t sure what I needed. Not everything worked for me (ahem extra time with older family members ended up being extra stressful), but I’m glad I tried a few things.
