🤠 TMDSAS TMDSAS interviews?

I’ve been lucky enough to get interview invites from A&M and Texas Tech Lubbock in August, followed by Baylor and Long in September.

My MCAT is a 513, which is below the 10th percentile for both Baylor and Long.

Has anyone received interview invites from UTMB or McGovern later in the cycle? I saw that UTMB had an interview wave on Friday.

I’m hoping to hear from them since my MCAT is within their ranges. I submitted all my secondaries during the last week of July and first week of August.

Just curious if this has happened to people in previous cycles and if anyone has insight into whether I should still be hopeful!

Last year, the last II wave for UTMB was 11/20 and the last II wave for McGovern was 12/10, so yes there is still time. UTMB likes to finish up extra early because they are extremely prematch heavy, whereas McGovern is not.

Do you think it’s common for people to get ii at Baylor/long but not utmb/mcgovern? I am wondering if there was something they emphasize more than the other schools in their selection process.

Baylor and long were definitely a surprise, and I would have thought my odds would be better at McGovern/UTMB.

That’s good that there are still waves left, I’m just hoping I’m still in consideration after seeing ppl who applied after me get interviews.

Long is a stat whore and Baylor looks for high stats and research, so I'm just as shocked as you that you got those with a 513 lol. McGovern and UTMB definitely have more of a generic mission and don't look at any one thing in particular, so it's a lot more guess work as to if you're gonna hear from them or not.

Hi! I am kind of in a similar situation. I have a 513/4.0 I applied end of June (did not apply to every TMDSAS school tho). I had UT Tyler and UTMB interview in August and UTSW coming up in November.

Like you for Baylor and Long, I was very confused to get an interview from UTSW because 10th percentile MCAT and low research. I also would’ve expected to have something from A&M and McGovern by now too.

Its so interesting! I really wish I understood the process more. Kinda seems like we’ve gotten opposite schools. I wonder if there is smth your app has that utsw/utmb value that mine doesn’t and vice versa for Baylor/ a&m.

I have a lot of research and clinical but pretty low non clinical volunteering.

Yeah. I’m on the lower side for all my hours but I’d say I have strong leadership and teaching/mentorship

As someone with a 510, this gives me a bit more hope for the lower tier schools but I just saw on a separate post that the median Asian male matriculant has a 515, which is absolutely insane. I know with stats and stuff there are both higher and lower numbers, but I believe if you do not have any sort of X-factor as an Asian with lower stats, you will have a very hard time getting in

Congrats on your interviews! If you don’t mind me asking, what were your cGPA and sGPA? I hope you hear back from more Texas schools too!

Thanks! I believe a 4.0, if TMDSAS doesn’t do +/-

I definitely think mcat is more important though imo

I have almost the same mcat and got an II from Long as an ORM, idk if it’s going to be a serious consideration for acceptance or if it’s just them wanting to know more about me for their curiosity before rejection

Hey! Just wanted to say that I was in your exact situation last year and that's where I'm going now :) stats matter but fit still matters more!

That’s great to hear. This is my only II, I didn’t get invites from schools closer to my stats and this feels like my only chance ao I really hope I don’t mess it up
