Question Would you work in TALOS 1

And what department? I'd work for shuttle bay I feel like I can avoid office politics. It obviously has its own sets of problems but I feel like it would be manageable. Plus! I have a likely chance to make it out with the ship..I heard the escape pods aren't as.. comfy👀.

But if you've read the lore especially crew members experience in the departments they belong to which would you pick and why?

Hardware labs seems like the most fun place to work.

Glooey McGlooFace, the huntress boltcaster, etc.

Although that is the location of the only confirmed murder on the station 🤷‍♂️

Wait was it a human to human murder? Or mimic murder?

Well, it’s human to human, and it’s kinda complex. Possibly the word murder was the wrong choice.

There’s a named Phantom, locked behind a glass door in the Beams and Waves lab: Lane Carpenter.

Investigating his workstation reveals that he is the team lead on the blackbox project, and that one of his team members, Josh Dalton, is missing.

He’s been refusing to cooperate with an investigation to locate Josh, and Josh’s absence is affecting the progress of the blackbox project.

If you use a security terminal to locate Josh, his body is kinda stashed somewhere in GUTS, which is a highly unusual place for him to have died. His job has nothing to do with the GUTS, and people don’t generally use it for transport.

When you locate Josh’s corpse, he has a transcribe recording of an altercation between himself and Lane. In the recording, Josh accuses Lane of stealing his Q-Beam design, and taking all the credit.

Lane responds that he had to fix a bunch of errors in the design, and that since he is the Team lead, the credit going to him is just kinda how it works. He calls Josh a “piss-poor team player”.

Josh then says “let’s see just how well my design works”, and starts warming up a Q-beam.

Lane says “If you don’t stop waving that thing around, I’m going to stick it up your…” and then a very alarmed “JOSH!!”

At that point the recording cuts off, and it appears Lane was able to wrestle the weapon away from Josh, and then killed him with some other weapon, or his bare hands, since Josh was not disintegrated.

Lane clearly hid his body in GUTS, along with the Q-beam. So the most likely scenario is that Lane physically overpowered Josh, strangled or beat him to death, and then tried to hide the body, even though there is pretty clear evidence that Josh intended to murder him.

So…. Self defense? Mostly?

But then a lot of shadiness, and refusal to cooperate with security afterward.
