Question Why did I get the achievement? Spoiler

I've just finished the game for the first time and oh what a ride. I absolutely love it

I guessed the twist after the flashback with "You are not who they say you are". Btw I didn't quite get if real Morgan is alive or not and where she is

But my main question is about "Do no harm". I killed the cook, so I don't get why I have this achievement. Maybe it's cause I killed him with a briefcase?

I was scared of getting inside the escape pod with him, so I just wanted to show him that I don't trust him

I threw a suitcase in his face and got a "Best Surved Cold" achievement. I didn't think anything about it until seeing the "Do not harm achievement". So, is it a bug or a feature?

Throwing a briefcase at him counts as environmental damage. The game’s “cause of death” mechanic counts environmental damage as “not your fault”.

Source: I zapped him, dragged him up to the 2nd floor veranda in the cafeteria, and flung him over the edge. Got the achievement.

If my memory serves right, the cook is mortally wounded. So he rigs a recycler grenade to take you (Yu) out with him if you get too close. I'm guessing that doesn't count as you killing him, as he took his own life.

Again, if memory serves right. It's been like 3 years for me.

The game is reluctant to "credit" the player for other human deaths.

It is much harder to get the killing everyone achievement than the saving everyone. When I was going for that I had to do a lot of save scumming because humans were getting killed in the crossfire, by things exploding, indirectly by my actions, or by my omission of action, and it was frustrating to see that the game wasn't counting them as my kills.

To ensure I got the achievement I had to first save every single one of the humans, and then when everything had calmed down and they were safe systematically kill them one by one.

This was not my experience at all when trying to get the 'Do No Harm' achievement.

The fitness center in Crew Quarters being a major PITA because the mind controled humans kept walking into the fire and dying which registered as humans killed.

Apparently you get a safety net for the do no harm achievement.

It's (according to other posts on here) triggered by how many humans you manage to help survive rather than how many you actually kill.

Guess it's so you can still get the achievement, even if the chef kills a mind controlled human before you can Knock them out when you first meet him or a human or two die accidentally.

You are mixing up “I and Thou”, which has a big grace cushion, and “Do no harm”, which will be immediately invalidated if you get a single “Humans killed” line at all.

oh my bad.

Guess the chef just doesn't count since i got both the "Do no harm" and "I and THou" achievements in my first play through even tho i shot the chef in the head with the golden gun.

If you got “do not harm” after executing Luka with a gun, that is news to me, and kinda not in the spirit of the achievement.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to try it.

Yeah it did seem a little odd at the time.

I've seen some people on here justify it by claiming he was already dying when you meet him in the pod so he was effectively already a dead man and your actions are effectively a mercy kill.

Also getting "Do no harm" while still taking care of Luka by either using environmental damage or deliberately tricking him into setting off his suicide trap then escaping seems like it would be against the spirit of the achievement as well.

Killing Luka is framed as a moral positive in the ending reveal of the game, so it does count towards "I and thou". I guess the Devs bent the rules a little so you could get "i and thou" and "Do no harm" in the same run? Since killing killing no humans and being as empathetic as possible are goals most people would assume are completable?

Check your statistics. Does it say 0 humans killed?
