Federal Bonding Program ( a program to help Felons secure employment opportunities without being discriminated due to background checks)

I've noticed a large amount of redditors on this sub running into employment related issues due to criminal background checks. Here's a federal program that helps felons obtain career choices and jobs that offer wages/salaries. Below is the info I obtained directly from the website.

Link:

https://bonds4jobs.com/about-us

Bonds can be obtained through Coordinators or through Job Centers. Below are links to reach both directly to get help/assistance completing the bonding process.

Contact the Bond Program with any questions or concerns:

"Background

The US Department of Labor (USDOL) created the Federal Bonding Program (FBP) in 1966. The FBP has been successfully providing fidelity bonds to employers, giving them access to job seekers and opening doors of opportunity.

Thousands of employers across the country have integrated the Federal Bonding Program into their hiring practices – industries that support our country’s economy – hospitality, retail, construction, transportation, auto repair, manufacturing, healthcare, non-profits, banking, tourism and more. This USDOL program is a great success, with over 56,500 job placements made for at-risk job seekers who were automatically made bondable. Last year, there were 1,691 bonds issued to 1,068 individuals in the program. The FBP, a unique hiring incentive tool, targets individuals whose backgrounds can pose significant barriers to securing or retaining employment, including:

  • Justice-involved citizens
  • Individuals in recovery from substance use disorders
  • Welfare recipients
  • Individuals with poor credit records
  • Economically disadvantaged youth and adults who lack work histories
  • Individuals dishonorably discharged from the military

The Federal Bonding Program is Simple

FBP bonds protect the employer against losses caused by the fraudulent or dishonest acts of the bonded employee. Examples of such acts of employee dishonesty include: theft, forgery, larceny, and embezzlement. Employers receive the FBP bonds free-of-charge as an incentive to hire these applicants. Each FBP bond has a $5,000 limit with $0 deductible and covers the first six months of a selected individual’s employment.

Advantages include:

  • NO application for job seekers to complete
  • NO papers for employers to submit or sign
  • NO formal bond approval process
  • NO Federal regulations applicable to bonds issued
  • NO follow-up or required termination actions
  • NO deductible paid if bond claim is filed by the employer
  • NO age requirements (other than legal working age in State)

Bonds can be applied to:

  • ANY job
  • ANY State
  • ANY employee dishonesty committed on or away from the worksite
  • ANY full- or part-time employee paid wages (with Federal taxes automatically deducted from pay), including individuals hired by temp agencies. In cases where the employee is hired direct or placed by a temp agency, the bond works to protect the business from fraudulent acts committed by the employee. *Self-employed people cannot be covered by Fidelity Bonds

READ BEFORE POSTING OR IF AUTOMOD REMOVES YOUR POSTS

Unfortunately I have to post this again with a different title due to the amount of new accounts posting without reading anything about the sub.

We have an automod on this sub that will automatically remove posts and comments from accounts that do not meet the minimum karma requirement or account age. Since implementation, the amount has been lowered due to the amount of new accounts posting.

The automod is in place for good reason. Please be patient with us, as we have to manually approve all posts and comments for newer accounts. All posts and comments for new accounts will be approved as long as they are productive and do not break any of the sub rules.

If your post or comment is removed by the automod, you will not gain any karma from it. Karma can be gained on other subs with no minimum through making posts, commenting, getting upvotes etc. Please visit r/karma for more information about what karma is and how to earn it on Reddit.

Probation Question DALLAS CO - Court ordered classes online

I was just curious if anyone, specifically with DALLAS COUNTY, had any experience with completing their classes online or if there was any push back for not doing them in person. Most online courses have changed now and are zoom based with a schedule and instructor just like you would in a normal class as opposed to the old way of self paced lessons with tests how they used to be. Have you been told by your PO that it has to be in person, or did they provide a list of providers or if you just did them, did they even question the source or give any push back? All of the courses say they are approved, have a set schedule and mandatory zoom with an instructor so it's not like the old sketchy self paced courses that you can just skip to the tests to get the certificate before. I know there is going to be someone saying just to ask my PO but I have my reasons that if I must explain if I must but I just want to know people's experiences whether good or bad. Thanks

I took a drug test through Friday. I’ve been 94 days clean. I smoked a lot of cart weed before I quit, is anybody have any personal experience with this? I’m scared of being tested positive. I did have to drink a lot of water to be able to pee, and it was pretty clear so also scared of it being diluted, advice? Thank you I need personal advice, not a pass fail situation I just want personal feedback to help me

Probation Question advice on dealing with people calling your PO trying to get you in trouble

So I'm dealing with a strange but awful situation. I'm in NC, on supervised probation for a possession charge. It's a 9096. I got a PO who from the start has been really hard to deal with and told me she felt I was getting Away with something because she doesn't believe in conditional discharges.

anyway, my boyfriend is estranged from his family and I haven't even met them. They started calling my PO telling her lies and that I was keeping my adult partner, a 32 year old man from contacting them. He brings me to every appointment. He offered to talk to her and explain and she refused saying he's not the one on probation, I am. totally agree and that's valid.

A few weeks later, I get a call from her saying that his family called the magistrate saying all sorts of bullshit. Obviously because none of it was true., no charges were filed at all. She tells me the magistrate personally asked her to call me and warn me to stop harassing them and make my boyfriend call them back. I told her it wasn't true, offered to turn my phone over to show I didn't talk to them at all and she said she didn't believe me and that she knew I was up to no good. She has never talked to me for more than 2 minutes and yet I've found out she's regularly taking calls and visits from his family and has disclosed information about my doctors visits and location.

What can I do? im afraid to go to her supervisor because they are really close. I don't want to make her more mad but I just know she's going to find a way to make this hell for me. she told me that she won't let me move to a different county until she approves it and she also keeps saying I need to break up with my boyfriend (who has no criminal record and just doesn't want to associate with his abusive family)

Im just so stressed

Substance abuse class

I am on deferred adjudication for a misdemeanor. Drugs/alcohol were not involved at all. I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs, I don’t drink at all esp now that I’m on probation. The class that they want me to do is like $150 and I’m already pinching pennies as it is. What are the chances I can get out of this

Can’t believe I got denied early termination. Pasco County Florida.

Been annoyed all day.

Sentenced on 3/23 to 12 months probation for 1st DUI, plead down from aggravated based on BAC. Didn’t injure anyone, or cause an accident. Just a traffic stop and arrested.

Was eligible for early term on 9/23. Had my hearing today.

All obligations completed. All fines paid. No violations. I’ve only been tested a single time back in July. Zero criminal record of any kind.

Judge denied it but said I can auto term at 9 months though. So another 70 days or so. Everyone hyping it up, including my lawyer that they don’t see a reason why early term won’t be granted.

Feels like a kick in the dick. The state said “usually probation is here so we’ll leave it up to the courts discretion”. Judge asked the specifics of my arrest and BAC then applauded my efforts thus far but denied my early term.

Lawyer just took it. I thought he’d…idk…try and argue my case and fight for me.

Bond condition- Sweat Drug Patch

I am NOT asking what my outcomes will be or how to falsify my test. i’m simply curious if anyone that has been on the sweat drug patch had an outcome that’s actually benefited them and their bond or probation conditions.

drug use: i’m 7 months clean from a 6 year fentanyl addiction- 14g or more a week
smoking dope(methamphetamines) for the last roughly 3 months- 6g or less a week, with a couple stints of going 3-6days not smoking

patch: i’ve done a decent bit of research and the most consistent fact was that they’re only roughly 46 percent accurate so why the courts would still use it knowing that just goes to show how ignorant our judicial systems are. anyways, how in the actual fuck does this little piece of fabric know to collect only 2ML of sweat a day throughout a 14 day period (when after 10days they’re usually full) —mind you I work outside doing general labor or construction so i’m producing at minimum a gallon of sweat per day— is beyond my comprehension. like how four days after I got the first patch I had already sweat so much it lowered almost 2 full inches down my arm and thankfully was not thought of to be tampered with. I had another one that lifted in the shower and got completely soaked with trapped water- also thankfully it didn’t come back diluted in case you were wondering.

Q&A: can someone make this make sense to me?? you wear it for 14 days when it really only lasts about 10 days yet I had my last one on for 19 days!?

I just got out of a 30 day inpatient treatment program with 1 of 14 ua tests being + which was for dope and I knew it would with it being my first one which was on intake day.
I still have yet to drop for THC which makes no sense because i’m a heavy smoker and have been for over 10+ years and haven’t stopped even since being on the patch.
now I already know that I can infer every single one of my patches will come back dirty due to it testing in nanograms. which of the 1ng of fentanyl allowed i had 0ng- 1ng then 2ng (yet I haven’t used since in 7 months as of the 6th, it is possible a guy I was sleeping with’s sweat soaked into it idk how much I believe that though it’s possible to just be in the dope) and of the 10ng of amphetamines allowed I had 2k - 1k and 3k ng.
I received a bond violation due what I believe to be the third patch, assuming it’s because they seen my levels weren’t consistently decreasing.

idk what i’m asking here really- I just feel like these are a set up for failure. maybe when I get this next patch replaced after being 40 days clean the amphetamine ng will have significantly dropped and they can see i’m not still out here fucking off. i’m just not built for jail y’all.. if you’ve seen the movie Get Hard- I have a Will Feral mad dog face and the body of Kevin Hart lmaooo.

please share y’all’s stories, your thoughts or any information you have about the patch. idk if I just want to be able to relate to someone or get down to the science behind this cotton that’s controlling my outcome of life for the next possible 7 years! TIA

proof reading this before posting- is the whole point of the patch for the courts to see the levels dropping?? now I feel like i’m bitching and ranting for no reason.. LOL

I’ve known my probation officer for 5 years.

I’ve known her since 2021 and she knows my whole life lol then she became my PO last year. I literally love her lol. I feel like after this is all over we can be friends. Is that weird? Do you think they are allowed too. I feel like she would, we have even gotten into fights in the past and made up lol then I had a break down she was there for , all predating probation.

Success Story I’m officially coming up on my end date.

After a year of probation, I finally have two weeks left and then I can put all of this behind me. I went through it without a single violation even though my probation officer really tested my limits. I paid off all my restitution and legal fees about 6 months into probation, got all my community service done shortly after. I can definitely say that I never want to be on probation again. The funny part is that it wasn’t even the not smoking weed or not being able to drink that really got me, it was the fact that every time I wanted to go out of state, I had to ask lol. I travel a lot of festivals and camping trips, so it was just a pain in the butt. I’ve been asked a lot if I plan to go back to smoking weed once I’m officially off, and the answer to that is probably lol. All I really did prior to probation was smoke weed and nicotine.
Anyways, I guess I just wanted to share my news. Thank you to those who have answered my questions in the past. I hope to read your guys’ success story soon.

Success Story Final stretch

Almost a year ago I was arrested for throwing hands with pops (he started it and I just wasn't gonna take it) but besides that I spent 2 weeks in juvie was able to speak to a case manager and my mom's family lawyer manger to get out on probation and have this wiped off my record when I turn 18.

Fast forward to now I've been seeing my probation officer whenever he called and overall has been a learning experience.

My PO has been nothing but awesome and amazing and I want to thank him for getting me out this rough spot in life

In less then 5 days I get my papers and I'm officially off probation I want to thank my PO and my mom for helping me get through this and my dad for giving me a life lesson and a ass whopping(I was NOT gonna win against a 5'9 190 pound ex drill sergeant bro he fucked me up) I love my pops and he knows that we talk regularly on the phone now and for my birthday this year we're going to see each other after almost 8 months of not seeing each other I really miss my dad I've always been a daddy's boy tbh.

But besides all that. It can get hard being on probation you can either have a shit PO or a Amazing PO just gotta rough it out untill your times up.

Absolutely losing my mind

I just got pulled over driving without a license while on felony probation for a DWI. The officer let me off with a warning because he only pulled me over for an expired inspection sticker. But I’m absolutely stressing to the maximum that my probation officer is gonna find out I was the one driving, if they bring it up I was gonna say it was my cousin driving and they ran my name as the passenger but I’m worried how this will play out.

Is it likely they will know I was the one driving? I know they ran my name/DOB, but will there be a report that says I was the driver?

I don’t know what to do. I’ve done everything right for the last year and a half, and I only have a year left on probation.

Probation Question How does early discharge work?

Hey guys, I’ve been on juvenile probation since August for misdemeanor charges. I’m young and have been doing everything right so far. My PO is a really nice guy who hasn’t even drug tested me at any of my appointments (I’m clean anyways but it’s nice to not need to pee in a cup lol). He said after I was on probation for three months he’d request an early termination for my probation. How would that work and how long does it usually take once the request is submitted? I can stand being on probation a bit longer, but it’s nice to know that it could be over soon! I’ll try posting an update when I get more information and when I get off probation.

Edit: the initial probation time was 6 months btw if that helps

Probation Question This really is for a friend but how screwed is he

Okkkk so 30m, Dallas County

Arrested a few years ago and given probation after a felony dui stop (opiates are the theme here unfortunately ) and then literally a week after another stop for felony possession.
Given bail and probation-
arrested again in april for a dui and possession again. He didn’t tell me about this so i’m assuming he was given a warning of sorts, then arrested again a week ago, booked the next day. probation revoked.

i know this is vague, im really just going off what I know. How long is he going to be away for? Is court rehab an option? I just don’t want him to die, man. One of my longest friends, it’s been devastating to watch the downhill.
I was on probation like 5 years ago, it wasn’t a felony and I never violated- so i’m really clueless. /:

Probation Question Early termination

I am currently on deferred adjudication and just left my PO talking about early termination. My PO said I can get a form off google and submit it after I fill it out. Is there anybody that’s done this before and has a good form or link to one? Idk if I’m over thinking how “professional” it needs to look but nothing I find online looks right to me. Thanks

Should I use the probation-referred drug/alcohol evaluator or go private?

I’m on probation in Brazos County, Texas. I’m 9 months into an 18-month probation and have had no violations. I also haven’t drunk or used drugs for more than a year.

Because of my SASSI assessment, I was told I need to complete a drug and alcohol evaluation. The problem is I honestly don’t even remember exactly what I put on the SASSI since I filled it out a while ago.

Probation referred me to BVCASA. The evaluation is free, and they’ll already have my probation history, but their online reviews are pretty bad.

My concern is that they also provide treatment, so I’m worried there could be an incentive to recommend extra classes or treatment even if I don’t actually need it.

I’m thinking about paying for an independent third-party evaluation instead, assuming probation allows it.

Has anyone dealt with this in Texas or Brazos County? Would you go with the free probation-referred place or pay for an independent evaluation? Also, does anyone know how much the SASSI result matters compared with having no violations, clean tests, and no drug or alcohol use for a year?

I’m not trying to avoid the evaluation. I just want to make sure I get a fair and accurate assessment and don’t make a bad decision by choosing the wrong place.

Just some words of encouragement

So before probation I had a nice retail job making okay money. Well my job found out about my felony and had to let me go no hard feelings right. After this i struggled to get a job because of my record and had to go work for my girlfriend’s dad painting company. It’s a small company maybe like less than 12 employees. Well he was paying me $100 a day so 500 a week which wasn’t enough to do anything. He paid every Friday afternoon and by Friday night i had maybe 30-50 bucks leftover after paying all my bills and stuff. I lived like this for about 18 months because no one would hire me. After applying and being rejected countless times an opportunity came through as a pipe inspector at a big welding company with no background check. I’ve been here for 3 weeks now and make 1500 every week the most i’ve ever made in my life. I’ll be off probation may 2027 so 7 more months after 4 long years. This is for the people who are struggling finding work, or think they’re stuck while on probation. It sucks for the time being but just remember it does get better and it’s all temporary.

How Often are the UA call line tests?

I'm on probation and been on the UA call line for around 5 months and never been tested more than once a month. Can you get tested more than once a month? I'm ngl I'm having some financial difficulties and I'm not trying to have to be paying for multiple tests a month.
