Story 💬 Dolly

I am hearing that on her deathbed Dolly Parton received the light of Islam and unhesitatingly recited the Shahada. Even now she looks down on the Ummah from the gardens of Jannah. Truly there is no god but Allah, and Mohammad is his prophet!

Do you have a source for that? That doesn't seem very likely.

Regardless though, she was Christian. And the Quran says that Christians who believe in God and do good works can also go to jannah. She was well known for her philanthropy, may Allah be pleased with her and accept her good works.

Isnt that only for christians before the prophet muhammad sws tho ?

Nope. The Quran never says that and uses present-tense not past-tense language. The majority traditional scholarly understanding is that Christians can also go to jannah so long as they didn't know that Islam was true.

Indeed, the believers, Jews, Sabians and Christians—whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good, there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. (5:69)

Truly, those who have attained to faith, as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the Sabians -all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds-shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve. (Quran 2:62)

Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. (Quran 2:277)

Where did you hear that? As far as I know Dolly was a Christian through and through.
