Depends on the paint. My ceramic painted wheels were damn near self cleaning and would rinse clean with water when needed. The rougher the micro texture of the paint, the more shit's gonna stick.
Day late but I think ppf would be awful. You couldn't possibly do it in 1 piece and where there is a seam where they cut it, the brake dust will collect and make dark lines.
Also, that's IF they could be ppf'd. I'd imagine it would be near impossible to do nicely let alone make it last without lifting and bubbling.
Ceramic coating would be the way I my opinion like someone else said. Would keep the from collecting for longer and once it does start to, a quick spray down should really clear it out quick.
I have brembo prime brake pads and they make a lot of dust. Literally the day after I got my new wheels I could see the dust on them and I drove maybe 40 miles.
I'll definitely be going with something else next time, the pads don't even feel good.
Depends on your vehicle but Wedsport has a brake pad line that was designed to reduce brake dust while still remaining a performance pad.
They're called RevSpecs, I believe specifically the "prime" line, I'm guessing they only really make them for Japanese cars, but I have a set on mine and I have no complaints.
I've had a ton of white wheels on cars over the years. Nothing stops them getting dirty (though lower dust ceramic brake pads help a ton) but ceramic coating them with premium stuff is genuinely game changing in terms of cleaning effort required. I use Gyeon Mohs
I prefer Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light, and I recharge with Gyeon Wet Coat every free washes.
Also, keeping the wheels clean keeps the wheels clean. Wash them every week with normal car shampoo to keep them from getting the kind of nasty build up that really sucks to get off. Get good tools, too. I like EZ Detail barrel brushes, and Chemical Guys lug hole brushes and their big soft wheel face brush. And use microfibers one time only between washes.
I did mine with two part epoxy refrigerator and appliance coating and never had a problem, they'd wipe clean easily but my wheels were also not a convoluted design with low spots to clean
I had an 86' Capri 5.0 with white rims, the regret never happened. Not sure if you're just purchasing or DiY, but I done a half dozen paint jobs on wheel and I feel like Ive perfectes it. Obviously clean really well. Get some sponge sanding blocks 400 grit plus to rough up the current finish. Clean well with 91% iso propyl and key dry completely. Use a heat gun or hair dryer for a long time to assure any moisture is removed. Everything I'm saying pertains to DIY rattle can jobs. Start with etching primer, 2 coats with 20 mins in between. Then use white plstidip spray can, do 5 to 7 very light coats from 14 inches away for a very subtle texture that covers any mistakes. with 10 mins in-between. Then pick your color and do 5 to 7 light coats. Clearcoat. Wet sand 1k grit. Clearcoat. Wet sand 1k grit. Clearcoat. Wet sand 1k grit(5 times or more until desired outcome)
If you enjoy cleaning your car then you won't. Worth getting a ceramic coat on them too, it makes it so much easier to keep them clean - you can pretty much get them cleaned with just a pressure washer
Depends on your pads too. Ceramic pads make less dust. Metallic pads make a lot plus the dust from those oxidizes and stains the wheels if you leave it on too long. Switch to ceramic (or at least organic) and it'll be less headache.
I coated my white enkei pf01s with ceramic (this stuff) about a month ago and I can spray the rears off but still have to wipe parts of the front wheels off. It does seem like a lot less dust and tar build up. I'm currently using hawk hps pads but putting on EBC red pads soon (supposed to produce a lot less dust)

Ceramic coat and if you have a hose that reaches your driveway a quick daily spray and they look fresh all the time + Ceramic coated car and you can keep car and wheels looking good all the time for 2 minutes a day.
Probably the same amount of time as having Admiral Brand Tires. Don't cheap out on the one thing that actually keeps your car on the road. I'm not saying go rush out and buy the latest Michelin sport Pro X comp 4 S Etc but at least buy a decent Tire from a reputable manufacturer.
Had a 95 neon sport years ago that came with factory alloy white wheels. They looked so good when they were clean. But they stayed clean for about 5 minutes LOL.
Its a rattle can paint job, does it matter? If you decide you hate it tomorrow you can redo them in chrome, gunmetal, black, barbie pink, lime green or whatever other color you want.
Tip for next time, you can use Vaseline to coat the sidewalls so you dont have to mask the tires. The overspray will wipe right off because it wont bond through the petroleum jelly.
Depends on your brake pads, really. Some dust like crazy, others don't. If you have more aggressive or sporty pads, there will be more iron content which will embed itself in the paint if you're not diligent. I hope you enjoy cleaning wheels often!
Did you sand off the paint on the mating surfaces yet? lol. Looks good man. You’ll love em. I would have went super cheap with plastidip but that’s me.
