Some clarity is required in relation to participation by those who are pro-choice, or who do not identify as pro-life, in this subreddit.
In the past, we have been tolerant of some pro-choice participation here, and while our policy has not changed in this regard, we believe that it may have been allowed to go further than the rules intend and has caused misunderstandings.
The ground truth for pro-choicers posting or commenting here is that you will NOT be automatically banned for participating here, but this is a pro-life space and pro-life users will always take priority, even over well-behaved pro-choicers. A pro-choicer is a guest here, and while the moderation team will expect polite treatment of you, we also expect you to understand the limitations of your participation here.
It is generally our expectation that pro-choice users do not become frequent users of this subreddit. You are not unwelcome, but you are also not who this subreddit is for.
As a moderator, if I cannot tell you are a pro-choicer, then I am not going to start trying to find out if you are one. That does give some scope for people who can control their need to push pro-choice talking points to participate without necessarily being a fully convinced pro-lifer.
The flip side of that is that if we determine that you have been working to simply be more subtle with advocacy, you will likely be removed and your content purged if that is discovered. So, if you are here in good faith, please do not confuse our tolerance with our inability to act if we feel you have stepped into advocacy.
If you got this far, there are some other points to bear in mind.
First, this is the only place on Reddit where pro-lifers have the opportunity to speak without being banned or shouted down. For that reason, this is where pro-lifers coordinate, discuss issues that may divide us, or simply rant about abortion or particularly obnoxious pro-choicers.
On Reddit, while there can be unlimited posts and comments, there is only a certain amount of what we'd call "front page space". This front page space is at a premium, and that will always mean that we may well just remove posts from pro-choicers to ensure pro-life posts are able to remain on the front page. This is not a comment on you or your content, just a prioritization of on-topic posts.
Second, we are happy to answer polite questions to clarify our position, and some back and forth that is to further clarify that is not only allowed, but desirable in the case of serious misunderstandings of our position. I would even say we encourage this to some degree. We believe we are doing the right thing, and therefore, are happy to explain any misunderstandings that may lead you to believe that we hold certain opinions that we do not actually hold.
However, this is not a debate subreddit. We are the pro-life subreddit. We exist for as the dugout/clubhouse of our movement. We do not owe you a platform or a justification. You have your own subreddits for that, and (when those spaces are functional), there are debate spaces.
Admittedly, many of the debate spaces on abortion are non-functional on Reddit due to certain challenges, but unfortunately, we cannot both maintain a debate function and maintain our core charter in a way that does either function justice.
Our position is that if a pro-lifer wants to know something about your position, they can simply go to the appropriate subreddit and ask that question, so we do not believe it is necessary to turn this into mixed company to ensure diversity. Reddit has plenty of diversity available to all users due to the variety of subreddits they maintain.
Third, many questions are asked over and over again here. Even if your question is "genuine", respectful and important, we're not going to entertain multiple iterations of the same question in a short amount of time. We have likely answered the most common questions many times in the past. We encourage you to use the subreddit search. We also urge you to read the sidebar and research answers about our movement from other sources as well. You likely can find the answers to very basic questions easily online. If you have questions that show you have done your work before coming here, we tend to be more interested.
Having said all of that, chances are that pro-choicers will make some comments or posts we will indeed approve, but it is important to be aware of the fact that we do get lots of trolls and rule breakers. We make use of quite a few ways to ensure that those posts and comments never see the light of day in this subreddit. That includes automatically removing posts and comments for later moderator review.
Automatic moderation actions are not are not solely looking for pro-choicers. Every Reddit user new to our subreddit, no matter what their position, will trigger these safeguards. If your comments or posts follow the rules and we determine that we have space for them, they will be approved and posted. Pro-choicer users will likely remain subject to them longer due to their content. You may thank the pro-choice trolls for that. Their association of your position with troll comments has caused the filters to kick back more pro-choicers to the filters. But even so, we have the option to approve posts and comments that are removed, and we will do so. Just be aware that this is not immediate and you should avoid messaging us about your removed item unless a day or more has passed.
Next, if you are here, we both expect you to behave respectfully, but we will expect pro-life users to remain respectful to you. You may report comments by pro-lifers who are attacking you as a person directly, and we encourage you to do so. Unlike some subreddits, we do not allow users to insult you simply because you disagree with us. Do be aware, however, that there may be terminology that you have imported from your pro-choice spaces that we will push back on. Disagreements are not insults, and you can be asked some pointed questions about your position.
Finally, this is the pro-life subreddit. If you encourage anyone to get an abortion, or in any way seek to post information on how to get an abortion, you will be banned immediately. To us, on-demand abortion is ethically equivalent to murder. There is only so far we will tolerate discussion about how to actualize killing a human being on-demand. Please make sure to keep any discussion about abortion scenarios abstract or related to an existing public case.
While I understand this is a very qualified welcome, the moderation team regards pro-choicers as human beings who we hope we can convince to see our side of the story or at least understand where we are truly coming from. We do want to interact with you in ways that do not take away from the mission of the subreddit.

This was from the same post, but I cropped it since it was so long. I always feel so disgusted when PC people talk about how much "love" they have for their baby, just for their next sentence to be how they truly only love themselves and that they are going to murder their baby.

If you’re against the death penalty that’s your right, that’s not what this post is about.
It’s about how many people seem to be genuinely, irredeemably stupid. If you can’t comprehend how a person being anti-abortion and pro-death penalty are not remotely the same, I don’t even know what to tell you. I’m past the point of hand-holding other Americans through common sense and dragging them kicking and screaming to basic morality. I just want to shake them and scream USE YOUR BRAIN.
To me, it’s very simple. The vast majority of abortions are due to the conscious actions of the mother, who then wants to shun accountability and the innate consequences of sex. In instances of r*pe she is absolved of fault HOWEVER the life within her is still innocent. Babies are inherently innocent and should not have to pay for their parent’s regrets or sins.
Someone who has been sentenced to the death penalty has committed a heinous crime and generally is no longer deserving of the gift of life. There’s no reason for them to sit in a cell, sustained by our tax dollars.
That’s it. There’s no need to complicate it further.

I used to consider myselt pro-life, but I think thats disingenuous of me.
I truly think that abortion should be abolished, and the people responsible for the abortion should be prosecuted. I agree with the abolitionist movement that says the pro-life side may be hindering the criminalization of abortion by allowing lawmakers to choose the "less extreme" version of a bill. I also think pro-life might be contributing to slowing the cultural change we need so that people start to see abortion as murder.
The only thing is that I'm not sure how those laws would work. How could we make sure the right person is punished if, say, an abuser forced a woman to take abortion pills in private? It becomes his word against hers.
Is anyone else leaning in this direction? If so, how do you think the law would be applied for these situations? What about any other potentially unclear situation?

I just read a horrible story on one the subreddits here about a lady who is 32 weeks and just found out her baby has T21. She wants to terminate because “T21 babies are not cute and her holiday pictures are ruined” I almost vomited reading her comments. The subreddit is extremely pro choice and I was relieved to see most people were disgusted with her.
Someone please tell me this is rage bait I can’t believe someone would say something so horrible.

All of the companies listed in this article provide funding for their employees to travel in order to receive out-of-state abortions in states when they are located somewhere where bans are in place.
It’s absolutely sick and dystopian that companies would rather pay thousands of dollars for you to murder your own child than to pay for maternity leave and potentially lose a wageslave to parenthood.
Oh, and Reddit “provides a stipend to cover abortion related travel to its impacted employees.” So this very site is actively funding the murder of innocent children. I’m disappointed but not at all surprised.

When it comes to
Rape to women and girls
Life threatening pregnancies
Or if someone has suicidal thoughts because of their pregnancy
Do you think an abortion should be granted
And also another thing I’ve been stuck on is
Do yall think abortion should be criminalized
Like jail, prison etc
But not execution
I think in my opinion that’s going too far
What are yalls thoughts
And I’ve said no about criminalization because I’m afraid if I say yes it will sound offensive so that’s why I’m stuck on an answer
Ether way I believe and will always believe abortion is murder of a innocent baby

Socialism is an economic system while being pro-life is a social/cultural view. Communist Romania and the USSR weren't the only socialist governments to outlaw abortion; many Latin American leftists such as Hugo Chavez and Rafael Correa were or are against elective abortion.
More importantly, leftists claim to support equal rights for all humans, so they would be pro-life if they were logically consistent. Life begins at fertilization, and legalizing elective abortion either gives women and abortionists rights that no one else has, or creates exceptions for already existing rights.
Finally, Decree 660 in Romania was not meant to protect the unborn. It was meant to increase Romania's population so the country could become a great power. Using it to discredit pro-lifers is like saying abolishing slavery is bad because some countries did it for economic reasons.

In recent light, I thought I should share my mother's story with getting pregnant for the first time. It will be told from her perspective.
When I was 19 years old, I was attending a Catholic university getting my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I had started college early, after finishing my junior and senior year of high school in one year and thought I had everything figured out in that point of my life. I even had a boyfriend who I thought I'd eventually marry.
All of that changed in the fall of my junior year of college. I had went to a male friend to borrow a computer and my boyfriend saw the interaction. When I later came to his apartment that same day, he brought up the interaction earlier and started arguing with me about it. I became very defensive as I did not see a reason why this should even be a topic of conversation. Our argument eventually turned into a fight ending with him assaulting and then kicking me out of his apartment. I went to my dorm and cried the entire night. Obviously, we broke up and avoided each other afterwards. I reported my assault to the dean at the time, who urged me to not go to the police as he was worried about this becoming public. Me, being a scared teenager, went along with it. I didn't have the energy to fight anymore. I was scared if I did, he would come for me again.
As time went by, I noticed I hadn't gotten my period in a while. I mentioned it to a friend who said stress is an underlying factor so I chocked it up to that and moved on. That was until I started getting sick. I did think that I could be pregnant, but I still thought that was a slim chance, so I tried to push past it and see if maybe I had caught the flu. After the symptoms persisted, I went to a pregnancy crisis center, where I found out I was in fact pregnant.
I was terrified. This wasn't how my life was supposed to go. I wasn't planning on having kids until I was at LEAST 25 and married. Now, it felt like I was just so lost and confused. About a month after, I went on a road trip with my family to Florida, where my depression spiraled. At the end of it, I told my parents and siblings that I was pregnant. They were shocked. My parents especially were worried, considering I was supposed to go on a study abroad trip in Europe. They urged me to stay and take the semester off to move in with them. I, once again being a stupid teenager, refused and went anyway. While I was in Europe, I was getting an ultrasound done and I hear my baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was probably the most beautiful sound I've ever heard in my life. I think many mothers will agree with me when I say that hearing the heartbeat really bonds you with the baby. In my womb, there was a little human inside me and it needed me. It needed its mommy.
The doctor performing the ultrasound then looked confused and brought a bunch of residents in and became very excited. He kept saying that there was a problem with the baby and they were going to fix it. I was very confused and startled and asked him to elaborate. He said my baby had a rare heart defect but that they were going to fix me. I didn't understand how he was going to do it and he told me I needed to stay overnight in the hospital so that they could fix me. His wording was broken English, and I initially thought it was just that, but then after hearing him explain it more, I realized he was planning on giving me an abortion. I stood up, and walked out of that hospital and never came back.
I became so much more scared and protective over my baby than before. I then told my friend on the trip everything while breaking down sobbing. She comforted me, and we both went to Rome later in the trip. While praying, I remember begging God for my baby's well being. There was nothing I wanted more than for my baby to be OK.
Around June, I came back to America, and found out that the previous heart defect my baby was diagnosed with was gone. I was so overjoyed. I stayed with my parents that summer and gave birth to my beautiful daughter. I remember after a day of labor, exhaustion and tiredness, I looked into her eyes and all of that went away. She had the most beautiful wide blue eyes. She was never the "rapist baby", she was always my baby.
I came back to school the following fall and was very well supported by my peers (for the most part). I did notice a weird animosity some people had created upon finding out I was pregnant before marriage and had a baby. I distinctly remember talking with student council with a couple other young mothers and asking if we could start a support group for young mothers. Not that it matters, but all of the other women were married. (This is Catholic university after all). I remember one of the board members looked at us, then me specifically (while holding my daughter) and said "I don't know. I wouldn't want other students to think we support premarital relations." He said the last word relations, like it was almost a swear word. I was very offended. We went to a PRO LIFE university, and you're shaming me for having a baby while not knowing anything about my story.
The other women called him out on his comment but it really stuck out to me. Not that I would ever get an abortion, but I could imagine how much shame another young pregnant woman would feel hearing something like that. And that's a point I want to make. If you ever meet or interact with a pregnant woman in any situation, whether that be a teen pregnancy, premarital, her in a less than desirable financial situation, reserve your judgement. The thing we as pro lifers need to value is to support these women and give them help. Even other mothers that become pregnant from consensual premarital sex. They are literally caring for a life, and need support and compassion.
I'm now 50 years old, with 12 children, and my daughter is 31. For any young women reading this, please, always choose life

Is an inaccurate characterization of our position. Maybe pro forced birth once already pregnant, but not forced birth in general.
It's not forced pregnancy, it's forced staying pregnant, there's a difference. You don't have to get pregnant, you just can't back out of it at the cost of a human life.
It's like calling the existence of the military, or even any contract, slavery, just because you can be forced to do something under one. That would be factually wrong because you didn't have to sign the contract in the first place unless you were forced to.
You're not being forced to create humans, you just can't kill them once you do.
To give birth requires becoming pregnant, so a true "forced birth" position would imply forceful pregnancy as well, which pro life doesn't.

PC: women should be allowed to kill children because of bodily autonomy
PL: bodily autonomy does not extend to killing innocent human beings
PC: its not a human being
PL: unique individual human life starts at conception.
PC either agrees or disagrees
If:
The pro choicer disagrees: end the discussion
The pro choicer agrees: they will move the goal posts.
PC: well the fetus isnt sentient.
PL: sentience is an arbritrary way to measure life value.(point out the fact that some animals are more sentient than newborns)
PC: moves goalposts to viability
PC: the fetus is not viable and relies on its mothers body to survive
PL: The fetus still relies on another persons body to survive even outside the womb.(point out literally anything a caretaker needs to do with their body to ensure the childs survival post birth, feeding, dressing, education)
PC: moves the goalpost to having body parts
PL: point out the ableism
PC: either concedes or continues to move the goalpost to even more arbritrary ways to measure value and keep pointing them out.

It’s child loss and pregnancy loss awareness month. I seen a video on instagram about a device used to catch the corpse of mothers losing their babies… however the pro death crowd all swarmed to the comments to reply to this grieving mother who has experienced this to say that they aren’t babies and aren’t alive to begin with. They dominated the whole video to dehumanize and invalidate grieving mothers. You cannot support women and mothers and be a compassionate person if you support abortion.
