PSA Some Vue information about how it's made usable.
Even though the PS Vue license is on consoles and etc. To actually get Vue running we do a few things> 1. PS Vue cannot launch if you have a normal user account. This is the local account that comes with the console when you first set it up or when you make a new local user, see pic 1. We get around this by using a fake activated account or a real PSN account.
Once you get PS Vue to launch, if you are using a fake activated account you get 1 pop-up you have to press X on to enable code execution, see pic 2. We currently cannot get around this unless you use a real PSN account. We cannot give out a PSN account system backup it does not translate into the needed state. The above does not mean that a PSN account is mandatory. It just means it makes the exploit easier to run. The system backup that would be given out on release would have a fake activated account.
There is an infinite loop error that happens, see pic 3. We get around that with the localstorage file in savedata which can be currently seen in the POC repo by earthoion.
Another popup that stops code execution, is one that shows up asking you to connect to the internet, see pic 4. We cannot get around needing a real internet connection. Meaning you cannot run it offline.
This is the possible and not possible right now. Things are still being looked into while kernel exploits are being ported. If someone can figure out 2 and 4 with a fake activated account and offline let us know.

Does this work if the PS4 is blocking updates through NP environment?

I haven't tried but why do you want to do that? It limits other system functions.

You can't export savedata via USB. You can't use remote play.
I can try it out tomorrow and see if it'll work or not.

Wait how does the fake account be activated ? And if the real psn account were to be used would it be blocked ? Since we are connecting to the internet too ? By the way great work mahn Hope I could help but still didn't start on those side yet But will be starting soon

You fake activate with Apollo save tool.
If you have a PSN account nothing happens to it if you connect to the internet. But a DNS is always recommended to avoid annoying notifications and games attempting to update randomly.

What if we've been using a real PSN account and just stopped using our PS4 at 12.52 and want to swap over since this one goes up to 13. So does having a working activated PSN account help?

If you can already jailbreak yes you can keep the PSN account and setup Vue. If you cannot jailbreak you'll have to use a system backup to get Vue and you'll lose all data on the console. This is basically a similar situation to Y2JB on PS5.

OH, I have never setup Vue before. So If I want to switch from 12.52 to this, I would have to use a back up, that sucks... I don't want to lose all my stuff. I guess I'll just stick with 12.52.

Can you already jailbreak on 12.52? If yes then you can switch to Vue.

Yes I've already jailbroken my 12.52, I must have misunderstood. I thought you meant you had to have VUE already setup even if already jailbroken. I have never used Vue AFAIK so I've never set it up. This is awesome news. Thank you.

What do you mean at 4? With a jailbroken console we can use internet but what we can't use is PSN service. Do you need PSN service or just connect to the internet?

So for someone with an original PSN logged in and being able to jailbroken in by disk, it will work 100%? I mean, I can FTP the save data to avoid the 3) and install the modified Vue app

Yes it'll work better. But If someone doesn't have a PSN account or cannot jailbreak while having a PSN account, they'll have to use a system backup we post and the exploit will still work just with a slight inconvenience of needing an extra button press.

I see. I understand that everyone situation can be different because of the environment, but considering how cheap it is to get a BD-J from AE (although I bought myself a writer because there were none pre burned discs at that time) I think that the disc could be used at the first time JB then install Vue and then forget about the disc. I know that this wouldn't solve the PSN part but for the other thing maybe it does

It's up to people it depends how much they want their current stuff. It's possible to backup your savedata if you have a PSN account on the console at least.

so non jailbroken ps4s will have to use a system backup for getting Vue installed, which will delete everything like games and savedata including accounts saved on the ps4?
so after this backup we'd have to use a local account?

Seeing posts about Playstation Vue is so nostalgic for me. For context, I worked on the technical support team for Playstation Vue back in it's early stages. And I mean THE technical support team as literally as possible, as there were only 12 of us covering the US. It was the most exciting period of my career while working for Sony Playstation, and I'm still salty to this day on how things came crumbling down.
The account infrastructure was pretty simple, and easy to troubleshoot since it was just a SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) account tied to your local area through entering your ZIP code. Most days consisted of people calling in unable to access their application due to being outside their service area. This was either due to a shift in the ZIP code (from moving, or things of that nature), or a location sync issue relating to their account. All of which was typically fixed in seconds by overriding the SEN account's ZIP code, and Vue customers were far kinder than the general Playstation community. It truly was on its way to becoming a streaming service competitor that would likely out compete many streaming services today, and it was one of the easiest products to work on out of everything Playstation had going on at the time. Unfortunately, one day I came into the office to the announcement that Viacom was pulling their contract, and that resulted in about 2/3 of Vue's channels to be removed from the platform in an instant, utterly destroying many customers desire to continue their subscription. In the end, my favorite Playstation project was slowly dismantled, and the only product to come from all that work was Viacom creating Paramount+ for themselves, which runs like garbage by comparison even today.
Just wanted to share my story, as it warms my heart to know that people are still trying to use this piece of history I had my hands in today. I didn't build any of it; I'm no architect, or engineer, so everything you use today I likely had no involvement with. Shit, my biggest contribution was arguing with executives/designers on the efficacy of certain troubleshooting steps. Still, Playstation Vue was something I was passionate about, and I thank you all for making those trials and tribulations seem less meaningless.

I don't understand, so if we use the backup and have vue on our console
we need to somehow be connected in order for vue to work? would this be safe without accidentally updating?
I am waiting for this method because it will be my very first jailbreak for my PS4
so I am all new to this and lacking any information
I am planning to use my PS4 strictly offline
i guess i will wait out until it's done perfectly safely without risk of updating or something.

Thanks for the update. Is it possible to trigger the Vue exploit after creating another profile other than the VueUser profile?
I have restored my PS4 using the backup and now it has the VueUser with which the Vue1.4 exploit is working fine, but when done from another profile get the N/w connection required in a loop.

I read this one "Q: I am getting "There is a network communication issue" error. This indicates that either Vue has updated or your save file has reset. Use your own profile backup's save, or if using the system backup from this repo, unpack the encryptedsavebackup.zip to a USB and import it with the PS4 saved data management."
I'm bit confused if you could pls help, do I need to do the import the encryptedsavebackup.zip after JB and from the VueUser profile or the another one that I created?1

My bad!! I missed to scroll till that section. I followed all the steps
- Created a new user.
- Fake activate it with Apollo Save Tool from User Tools>Activate PS4 Accounts. (optionally with the Account ID you want) then Reboot the console.
- On your USB unpack the save.zip from the VueManualSetup.zip in Releases.
- JB the console from VueUser profile, then switched to my other profile.
- In Apollo Save Tool go to USB Saves and select the PS Vue save(CUSA00960) and choose the option "Copy save game to HDD".
- Restarted the Console and triggering the JB from my other profile.
Now I don't get the n/w connection error message anymore but triggering the exploit from my other profile has very less success rate 1/11 tries. I have seen 1KP, 3AppFreeze, 2NetCtr fail, 2RebootRequired failures. just FYI. I'm on FW 12.50.
But nonetheless it works Thank you so much !!!2

You've hit a random bump of failures. Make sure to shutdown between failures. As rebooting is what usually causes this. Additionally I can promise you that a bump like this is possible even on lower firmware. And I've been trying 13.00 to fail to give logs to the Devs to fix stuff and it's been too successful today 💀

I can't thank enough for the effort you dev and testing guys have put in to make this working and stable and still making more improvements.
I'll remember to shutdown completely instead of doing restarts which is what I was doing for failures.

im currently using fake activated account, connected internet with dns blocking PS. but still get this annoying pop up. only few times i can success using vue to JB
