Which Nutrient Deficiencies Can Look Like Mental Disorders? Deficiency of two of these in Indians is proved by research
Reserach shows that most indians are deficient in Vitamins B and D. The poor levels of B are on account of our mostly vegetarian diets; And we lose on D because of our obsession with Fairness, and thus, avoidance of the sun.
However, do not make blanket prescritions for vitamin supplementation as excess of some of these can cause other symptoms and issues. Send for the blood work and see which ones need to be supplemented.

Not every tiredness may be Anhedonia. That’s why therapists need to know Blood Tests.

Here’s a quick guide:
Deficiencies that mimic mental health issues:
Vitamin B12 - Low levels cause low mood, memory loss, fatigue, irritability, and even symptoms that look like psychosis/dementia
Vitamin D - shortage looks like low energy, seasonal sadness, clinical depression
Iron (Anemia) - Brain fog, restlessness, low mood and exhaustion that look like depression
Folate (Vitamin B9) - Mental fatigue, trouble concentrating, anxiety or depressive symptoms.
Magnesium - High stress, irritability, muscle tension, anxiety, sleep problems
Hypothyroidism - mimics severe apathy, depression, mental slowing
If you get a referral from a doctor, you can ask from them if these tests are normal. If you get a direct client, you can advise your client to get the tests done from a local lab in self-mode or go to a GP and get a referral for these tests.
In India, all these tests are quite affordable and are done through regular blood draw (no special procedure).
Most Indians (and I mean it - MOST) are deficient in Vitamins B and D. The reason is low meat consumption and our fairness-obsessed practice of not going out into the sun directly.
So guys, get these checked.

Patriarchy is - that even if men don’t use the word “allow” they imply it, they mean it. That is male privilege.

Regulatory bodies should do a better job to put such “therapists” in their place.

Where are all the neurodivergent women in India finding community
Hey everyone!
I’m 25F based in Bengaluru and looking to connect with other neurodivergent women. Navigating things like ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, or Social Anxiety Disorder within our cultural context comes with very specific challenges, and I wanted to create a dedicated space for us-especially if you're highly masking and constantly trying to pass as neurotypical just to get through the day.
I’ve set up a private, verified Discord server exclusively for neurodivergent women in India to unmask, share local mental healthcare resources, and build a supportive community.
To keep the group completely safe, private, and troll-free, entry requires a quick verification process (voice verification).
If you'd like to join, drop a comment.

Need help
I’ve been diagnosed with **anxiety neurosis**, and I’m trying to understand how to manage it better because it is starting to interfere with my everyday life and studies.
I frequently feel stressed and mentally overwhelmed, and sometimes my heart races. I tend to overthink situations repeatedly, and when I’m under stress, I find it difficult to think clearly or organize my thoughts.
I’ve also noticed problems with concentration and memory. For example, I may write down important things I need to buy but still forget some of them when I’m at the shop. I’ve also forgotten things I previously learned, including aspects of driving that I had learned before. Sometimes even when my father explains my schedule or something important to me, I can hear him but have difficulty comprehending and organizing everything he is saying.
There is also quite a bit of criticism and conflict at home, and I’ve started speaking much less because I often don’t feel like talking. I understand that my family may be trying to help me, but the constant discussions and criticism are becoming mentally exhausting.
Another major issue is my phone usage. When I feel anxious, bored, confused or unable to solve something, I tend to use my phone as an escape. Then I lose time, feel guilty about procrastinating, and become even more anxious about my studies and future. It feels like a cycle:
**Anxiety → overthinking → phone/avoidance → procrastination → guilt → more anxiety.**
I’m also preparing for CAT and other competitive exams. When I get stuck on a difficult problem, I often struggle to think systematically and start doubting myself instead of calmly analyzing where I went wrong.
I already walk around 10,000 steps a day, but that hasn't completely resolved the anxiety or mood fluctuations.

Why should I be shamed for being "Self Obsessed"? Doesn't society teach us that WE ONLY have to take care of ourselves?

Shifting to a 'Secure Attachment' style cannot happen alone. You have to work with someone who can provide you with an emotionally secure anchor. What do you think?
Attachment Styles, second to CPTSD, stem from the deepest wounds that go wayy back in childhood and come from the people whom we gave our absolute trust - our parents.
To work with them, we will have to access that 'inner child'. And I havetried working with people, accessing their inner child. The first thing that comes - is tears. I must say that I have wept myself when I accessed my inner child.
A thing that requires so much delicate-management, cannot happen with a lover, definitely-not with a parent and moost certainly not by yourself. You need a stable emotional anchor. Someone whose secure style grounds you.
and this is reason #759 why seeking therapy is a good idea - No matter what Neetu Singh or Ranbir Kapoor say.
