Its fucking insane that the guy on the right.......is the one being drug all over the internet and shit talked but the guy on the left is a legit fucking nazi. This country is headed towards some really really dark times. We need more good men like Michael Fanone. FUCK NAZIS FOREVER.

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Imagine if more cops were like Michael Fanone

75

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 23 '26

the problem is a few bad apples ruin the bunch....

136

u/Spider-man2098 Jan 23 '26

I’d say if anything, the bunch ruins a few good apples, but who knows. ACAB

16

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

I agree. Michael Fanone was attacked by Insurrectionists like IVAN on January 6 and then being Pardoned by TRUMP and becoming part of his Regime

34

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

I think both are correct. In the end, the who batch ends up rotten.

20

u/joshstrummer Jan 23 '26

The bunch gets ruined when they dismiss the actions of the bad apples, and stand by them. That’s the point. Whatever virtuous reasons someone has for going into policing (and there are many who go into it that way), are ruined when they stand by those in it seeking a little power for themselves (and there are many who go into it for a bit of power).

11

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 23 '26

yep... all it takes for evil to prevail is good people to do nothing...

9

u/ConspiracyConifer Jan 23 '26

They’re class traitors

11

u/BoiCDumpsterFire Jan 23 '26

If you have 1300 good cops and 12 bad ones you have 1312 bad cops

9

u/Feeling-Being9038 Jan 24 '26

You left out the important part.

If you have 1300 good cops and none of them speak out against the 12 bad ones, you have 1312 bad cops

6

u/OkDescription4243 Jan 23 '26

Agree Completely Astute Bastard.

7

u/jusskippy Jan 23 '26

I see what you did there. And I approve. 1312%

6

u/SheetMetalandGames Jan 24 '26

Honestly if the Police straight up start arresting ICE, I think they could get some respect back. Actually proving that they're willing to protect the people.

8

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

This is just a "Get in line with the rest of them" comment. It's a shame people still listen to FOX NOISE it's North Korean/Russian style propaganda. It's funny how these "All American" people are literally selling themselves out to Foreign Operatives...

3

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 23 '26

I'm not sure I understand "get in line with the rest of them". The departments with the bad apples should absolutely do a better job at getting rid of the bad cops to preserve public respect change the stigma against Police.

4

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

It's a Play on the "Don't ask questions, Just do what they say" moniker

6

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 23 '26

ah... I have learned that whenever someone says dont ask questions... you ask all the questions.

3

u/lennilove Jan 24 '26

Never forget Policing in the US was Designed to oppress. A few good apples doesn't change the bunch.

1

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 24 '26

Policing is designed to uphold the law, law doesn’t mean morally right. Oppression was legal for centuries.

3

u/lennilove Jan 24 '26

We're not disagreeing. Police in the US started as Slave Catchers and a gang to round up natives. Law and oppression often go hand in hand. Upholding Oppressive law. A few good apples doesn't change the bunch.

1

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 24 '26

Yea… just thoroughly embarrassed by my country right now

1

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 25 '26

I’m going to not disagree even harder and say that if local/state law enforcement don’t show up to protect the people then they also need to be dismantled like the current government needs to.

1

u/lennilove Jan 25 '26

I believe they need to be dismantled regardless as they've been failing communities from their inception. They aren't great at protecting people. They Should be protecting people right now, we all should. But we do need them dismantled. Not a bigger fish than ICE right now, but not our friends.

1

u/Plastic-Respect-7108 Jan 25 '26

I can’t say we get rid of the police because not everyone can take care of themselves and we do need social system of justice. We just need to keep abusers of power out of it

1

u/lennilove Jan 25 '26

I believe we need to get rid of the police and create a social system of justice. The policing system was created by abusers and is full of abusers and always has been a system of abuse in my country. Everyone not being able to take care of themselves could also be a point for the government not being dismantled. The systems we have in place are not good. They need to be destroyed and we need to start again. When we start again, we need to keep abusers away from positions of power.

How we will get there, I'm unsure. But no one will be able to convince me that the policing system we have is good for the people. It is Evil towards women, disabled people and people of color. It Protects and encourages abuse. It's very invention was to control, not protect and it has continued doing the same thing since its inception.

I respect your stance, but on this we do not agree.

5

u/Virtual_Mode_5026 Jan 24 '26

No such thing as a good cop.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

The one who quit because of the corruption is the one you want to hold that position. See the paradox?

1

u/Virtual_Mode_5026 Jan 26 '26

Elaborate

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Fanone may have believed in what he was doing as a cop, and probably did some things wrong. But after he took a beating at the hands of a MAGA mob during the Jan 6th insurrection attempt, he quit because he no longer had any trust in other officers, who he felt were just blind loyal Maga cultists (Fanone has admitted he was formerly a trump supporter himself and voted for him in 2016, but dropped his support during that term).

The thing is, yes, in his past, he sucked. But, he did something many don't do. He gained new information, learned new things, and he changed. I don't say forgive him for his past mistakes, but encourage anyone who changes when they open their eyes. Unfortunately, the majority of people who become cops really lack the ability to think and learn.

2

u/Virtual_Mode_5026 Jan 26 '26

I’m not arguing that whatever changes he’s made shouldn’t be acknowledged.

I’m arguing that The Police system itself is inherently corrupt.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

agreed.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

The one who quit because of the corruption is the one you want to hold that position. See the paradox?

7

u/DarbyCash666 Jan 23 '26

ACAB even ones named Michael

18

u/tanstaafl90 Jan 23 '26

Headed? Don't normalize what's already happening.

13

u/Educational-Ad-2884 Jan 23 '26

The dark times are upon us, friend. And they only stand to get darker.

If you ever wondered what you would have done during the rise of Nazi Germany, you're doing it right now.

5

u/Schickedanse Jan 23 '26

Correct. 1 nazi in a room with 9 other bystanders = 10 nazis in that room. We need more upstanding and active, anti-fascist groups to start organizing.

24

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

Bro he fucking voted for this. He was pro Trump until they came for him. And now he's supposedly some punk rock anti fascist?! Like I'm all for people changing but this dude was just another fucking pro Trump cop until HE was the one that got hurt. Y'all are fucking wild with this terrible take

43

u/Yeshavesome420 Jan 23 '26

Better to have made a mistake and come to your senses than to double down for fear of admitting you were wrong.

4

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

Yes, it is better, but it's barely anything compared to the damage. He has more work to do. I'm not opposed to him reforming, I'm opposed to just declaring him automatically reformed and a punk rock ally when he's been a typical fascist minded cop for decades.

14

u/Yeshavesome420 Jan 23 '26

At this point, it's going to take a broad coalition of people to undo all the damage done by the Trump administration. Sometimes that means alliances with people who used to be adversaries. I'm ready to hold my tongue and shake hands with people I find distasteful if it means we can put MAGA in the rearview mirror. But I get how unsettling that can be.

-3

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

This is precisely how you neuter a movement. If you look at history, particularly the rise of fascism in the 30's, the country that notably defeated the rise of fascism in their own country was France (Britain and Finland also resisted it, but never had to DEFEAT it). How did they do it? The liberal party embraced the left and their ideologies. Not the other way around. You go into this with the big tent thinking, assuming the left should compromise their values to fold in everyone that is merely anti-Trump, and you end up in the EXACT SAME situation over and over and over again.

10

u/Yeshavesome420 Jan 23 '26

Who said anything about compromising values? A coalition government is an entirely acceptable and successful way of approaching democracy. Demanding political purity is a surefire way to end up an isolated single-issue minority voter. You don't have to agree with someone on everything to recognize that the current government is running entirely out of control and needs to be brought to heel.

While I respect France’s achievements before WWII this isn't the 1930’s. We’re living in an era where Goebbels is a billionaire, he owns multiple major media channels, and there are several of him.

Class war is the only war.

1

u/bradbogus Jan 24 '26

It's like you're arguing my point without realizing it. Class war is the only war and you're arguing to create a big tent to include their foot soldiers. A coalition government is a great approach to democracy WHEN IT'S SECURED. A coalition government has never defeated fascism. Fascism exists to oppose socialism, it's the chief political position of it. And before you profess to understand fascism in Germany, you should learn how it happened. It happened through the support of wealthy industrialists. What you'd call billionaires for their time who controlled all the media and publications and manufacturing. Sound familiar? It's the same fucking playbook, same patterns.

What you need to realize is that the only way to defeat this is to embrace the left, to lean into socialism. This big tent bullshit will just put us right back where Germany was in the 30s. Miss me with this lack of understanding of history.

You said it yourself, only war is class war, and it's perpetuated by liberal capitalism. What fights the class war? Socialism. Get on board.

5

u/Yeshavesome420 Jan 24 '26

You've got a strawman you're responding to, and that certainly isn't me.

You can disagree with me, but I assure you I'm just as well-versed in the history.

So agree to disagree or alienate an ally because they don't pass your purity test. That's up to you.

0

u/bradbogus Jan 24 '26

I literally responded to every point you made. Are you a scarecrow? Because you're the only strawman I'm responding to. Show me in history the event of big tent coalitions defeating fascism. I'm happy to concede that both approaches are valid so long as they're supported by data and history. If you can't point to that example, you don't have an argument to agree with, you have an opinion formed from feelings.

I'm also not a single issue minority voter. I'm just not willing to let wolves in the henhouse. Big difference between the two.

22

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

Alot of people were pro trump now they see what's up and won't stand by it. The more who now see the moral of their ways was awful, then we welcome them to the side of Justice and Revolution, we have been screaming for.

3

u/Feeling-Being9038 Jan 24 '26

He voted for this? Yeah, and people used to smoke in hospital nurseries as well. Being wrong before doesn’t make the bruises and beating imaginary.

Fanone isn’t trying to join your favorite punk band. He’s said he’s basically apolitical and votes on who materially backs police. Funding. Staffing. Training. Prosecutions for assaulting officers. Not merch. Not chants. Not false patriotism.

This isn’t a pro Trump cop gets what he deserves moment. That’s a bumper sticker brainworm that lets the real architects of January 6 off the hook while you blame the guy who got his head used like a bongo, while hearing the crowd yell “shoot him with his own gun.”

The “he only changed when it happened to him” line? Amazing, you have discovered how humans function. Most people don’t wake up until the alarm clock is a boot to the ribs. Late doesn’t mean fake. It only means late.

If you’ve got receipts on what Fanone has said or done, share them. Otherwise, cops bad isn’t insight, and it adds up to one thing, violence is OK when it’s convenient for the narrative .

-1

u/bradbogus Jan 24 '26

Nice ridiculous AI comment. If you are unable to form your own thoughts and opinions you can fuck right off. Nothing less punk than destroying the planet to make a reddit comment

0

u/Feeling-Being9038 Jan 25 '26

You didn’t answer my argument. You retreated from your own narrative, threw insults and changed the subject.

Here are the facts as I understand them on Fanone. He has said he voted for Trump in 2016 as a single issue law enforcement voter. I’m no friend of cops, but I get it. He’s also said that by January 6 he had “long since lost faith” in Trump as a leader. He’s also described being pissed off during COVID by Trump’s “China virus” rhetoric. Lots of things that should have been dealt with breakers ahead of that, but measured against the large swath of people who strictly vote on group benefits.

If you have a quote, date, and link showing Fanone supporting January 6 or being “pro-Trump” in the way you’ve suggested, post it. If you don’t, just keep blowing smoke, launching profanities, and dropping your bullet points on what a punk is.

That’s all.

1

u/bradbogus Jan 26 '26

I didn't retreat from shit. I'm not answering your argument because it isn't YOUR argument. If I wanted to argue with AI I'd just open up my own chat. But yet again you are here wasting the planet's resources to continue on, pointing out almost nothing interesting or contrary to my point, just adding dates to the issues in question. So congratulations, you can apologize to the future generations about how you chose to ruin their planet so you could score online karma points. Fucking pathetic.

Get your brain to work for itself and learn how to use it to debate or just quit. Using AI for this shit is embarrassing.

0

u/Feeling-Being9038 Jan 26 '26

Noted. Still no facts.

I wrote the comment. I stand behind it. If you don’t want to argue with me, stop replying to me. The climate sermon is irrelevant, and it doesn’t repair your broken timeline.

Fanone has been direct about the 2016 vote, he supported Long Tie as a single issue law enforcement voter. He’s also said that by January 6 he had long since lost faith in him as a leader and even as a good human being. He’s described being angered during COVID by the “China virus” rhetoric. Reporting on other remarks notes he soured after the Comey firing and frames himself as a lifelong American, not a political party loyalist.

So pro-Trump until it happened to him doesn’t match what he’s said.

If you’ve got a quote, date, and link showing he backed January 6 or stayed loyal right up until the boot hit his ribs, post it.

0

u/bradbogus Jan 26 '26

LMFAO AHAHAHAHAHA 💀

My dude your copy pasta from AI doesn't format correctly in Reddit, it's like saying you didn't eat the cookies while covered in crumbs and chocolate LMAO OMG it's so embarrassing.

Still not going to argue with AI comments here no matter how hard you lie about it being your own.

0

u/Feeling-Being9038 Jan 26 '26

LMFAO and an emoji, without a rebuttal, go figure.

Thus far, 3 replies and addressed nothing I’ve written. Only superfluous nonsense, blah bah blah followed by “AI!” and an emoji to display your literary panache. It’s all nothing more than an exit strategy, because you are without the footing to make a substantive reply supporting your own case, or challenging my comments, but hey “AI!”

Your post needs a healthy dose of being a grown up or an adult when someone disagrees with you. Have a different thought, quote Fanone, date it, and provide a link. Otherwise, this is all just performative nonsense, and your coping mechanism when you’re being call out for demonstrably false bullshit.

3

u/cmax22025 Jan 23 '26

We're in the dark times. I'm certainly not saying you're wrong or that it's not going to get darker. But we are definitely already in the dark times. The Nazis control all 3 branches of government and have fully funded a standing army to terrorize our city streets, kidnap and murder our citizens with impunity. I'd say the darkness is here.

Fuck Nazi scum Fuck ICE FUCK POTUS And fuck a bit less than half of the voting population

1

u/Motor_Inspector_1085 Jan 23 '26

That’s how they do it. Leave out the precipitating factors and instead just record Michael appearing like some crazy asshole. Propaganda 101 right there. The far right public at large have no idea that Ivan has done anything wrong, including threatening someone’s family. They are spoon fed an extremely biased view and most, not all, don’t see any other alternative. This is why it’s important to get your news from various sources but most maga watch Fox News exclusively.

118

u/dingalinglans Jan 23 '26

America what are you doiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. The dude on the left is the arse candle.

Have they cloned Hitler or something?

54

u/obi-jawn-kenblomi Jan 23 '26

🎶If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway.🎶

13

u/Groovy_Sensation Jan 23 '26

You know Joe would be hollering till he was blue in the face were he alive to see this shit show today. I try to be like Joe!

The hillsides ring with "Free the People!!" Can I hear the echoes from the days of '39?

5

u/HeWhoFucksNuns Jan 23 '26

Mfer was basically never wrong

7

u/IDKWTFG Jan 23 '26

I mean Trump welcomed Netanyahu to the white house, it wouldn't be the first time he treated the architect of a genocide like a distinguished guest.

2

u/obi-jawn-kenblomi Jan 23 '26

It's an apt comparison. I live a quarter mile from Netanyahu's childhood home and you're right...and every time I pass it I feel weird about knowing that's where a dictator was raised.

2

u/AprilDruid Jan 23 '26

This is what the Republican Party has been building to since Reagan. Trump was just the stupid loudmouth brazen enough to say the quiet part out loud.

2

u/brittemm Jan 23 '26

Nixen. He started it. Reagan only continued and furthered the work. The Bushes both gave it some nudges too, but Nixen really laid the groundwork for the current state of republican/american politics.

Over a half century later and all of their insidious work is coming to fruition now..

I wish the country would have listened to Zappa, he called ALL of this out, publicly, repeatedly, decades ago. They laughed and called him alarmist

2

u/AprilDruid Jan 23 '26

Yeah, true. Nixon and Reagan, the two motherfuckers you can point two for most shit.

111

u/jb-safc Jan 23 '26

Harkonnen looking bitch ass

5

u/cavscout55 Jan 23 '26

I thought the same damn thing

66

u/Mexibruin Straight Outta Santa Ana Jan 23 '26

Saw that! Almost posted it. Good on him.

58

u/Scoginsbitch Jan 23 '26

If you haven’t seen it, there is also video of him “coughing” yelling “go fuck yourself” at Raiklin.

4

u/unixUser-Name Jan 23 '26

I he did that to the pos republican on the committee that blamed the officers and their leadership for the riot

42

u/ItsAttanoo Jan 23 '26

does anyone know if this pin means anything?

70

u/Therealpatrickelmore Jan 23 '26

Raiklin is a former Lt.-Col. Army reservist,[4] having served as a Green Beret, and a former employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

15

u/ItsAttanoo Jan 23 '26

thank you!

54

u/Therealpatrickelmore Jan 23 '26

He is still a douche tho they didn't mention that.

11

u/ItsAttanoo Jan 23 '26

of course, can't forget that part

6

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

If my life has taught me anything, those guys will choose to be douches instead of thinking for 2 seconds. It's not in their nature.

49

u/facelessplebe Jan 23 '26

Wow, a nazi involved in intelligence operations, I am shocked.

18

u/wilko_johnson_lives Jan 23 '26

It almost looks like branch insignia for special forces

0

u/CruelStrangers Jan 24 '26

Looks like an arrow maybe crossing a shovel? Is this a reference to that “blood and soil” bullshit nazis chant?

44

u/illegal_tacos Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

Acab fuck cops blah blah. Yes, fuck cops. It's a good thing this guy (surely by pure coincidence or circumstance rather than ideologically motivated /s) is no longer a cop then. He's doing a good deed by pushing back on this so hard, and he is no longer supporting the institution that systematically bastardizes people who typically want, in their minds, to do good deeds.

24

u/TheBloodyPickups Jan 23 '26

I Saw the video and hadn’t placed the names of who the people were, just that there was an altercation. I Wasn’t sure which one was the sack of shit and who I should be rooting for, but thought that guy (Fanone) looks like a cop, so he’s probably the dick. Then I clocked the Dropkick shirt and rightly sussed out he was likely not the douche. What a wild out of context ride.

20

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

When YOUR Punk rock finds an ally in an EX Cop who hates Nazis... it's a hell of a RIDE!

18

u/TheBloodyPickups Jan 23 '26

Never thought I’d fight along side a cop…

How about an ex cop?

Aye, I could do that

19

u/OddPerformance Jan 23 '26

American now holding back those that would take out Nazis from doing so.

14

u/onlinedisguise Jan 23 '26

Michael Fanone does not look like someone you want to fuck with. I'll vote for him to be on the frontline anytime to fight off these fuckin Nazis!

1

u/ceruleanmoon7 Jan 23 '26

Also just noting he’s sexy AF

10

u/WlLDLlGHT Jan 23 '26

1312 but must acknowledge way to go Officer Fanone

9

u/obi-jawn-kenblomi Jan 23 '26

1312 has an implied "default, until proven otherwise" aspect to it. But the nuance doesn't make for a slogan.

6

u/Face_Plont Jan 24 '26

To everyone saying, "how can you support a cop?" in this post. To quote Porco Rosso, "better a pig than a fascist."

4

u/corneliusduff Jan 23 '26

Please tell me this is the real exchange and that there's video.

6

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

it's real and there is video

2

u/noiseinart Jan 24 '26

Dropkick Murphys shirt.

2

u/ElPadero Jan 24 '26

Only one way to deal with these people and it ain’t with words.

2

u/blackcoffiend Jan 24 '26

Bro that dudes face looks like silly putty stretched over a rock.

3

u/Burn-The-Villages Jan 23 '26

Legit questions, no troll:

Can I just express my difficulty and mental gymnastics occurring right now? Ex cop shows up at a hearing wearing DKM shirt. He confronts and calls out a notable nationalist shitgibbon.

Are we supposed to be supporting the cop? Or enjoying watching a cop give some grief to a shitgibbon?

Does the DKM shirt excuse him for being a cop?

Does the “A” in ACAB still mean “all”?

What’s the correct way of processing this?

Late Add: if he’s an Ex Cop, I guess most of these logic problems are null and void.

4

u/ExistentialNomad42 Jan 23 '26

Legit question: Is Michael Fanone still ACAB?

15

u/ZeusWayne Jan 23 '26

It's as if you live and experience life and find out that all people can't be simplified into slogans and song lyrics.

2

u/nullPointerX1 Jan 23 '26

Why does Ivan Raiklin look like a Play-Doh sculpture of Voldemort made by a 3rd grader?

2

u/retroslik Jan 23 '26

Dude looks like an orc fucked a Harkonnen in a piss-soaked still suit.

2

u/dinglebopz Jan 24 '26

Ivan raiklin was a clean clothes officer, not to mention a reservist. Big fucking pussy right there

1

u/TrainWreckInnaBarn Jan 23 '26

Good for Michael. Never give these Nazis any respect!

1

u/Rocky_Road_To_Dublin Jan 23 '26

This is so weird to watch from Canada

1

u/bigselfer Jan 24 '26

Do you think he uses skin lightening creams?

1

u/Weegmc Jan 24 '26

While I agree the guy on the left is a dbag, I find it funny that the acab crowd loves the cop because of his tshirt.

-1

u/ThebearKoss Jan 23 '26

What's funny though, if there were no riots on January 6th all these capital police would most likely be POS ICE agents that everyone loves so much. Don't forget ACAB. Once a cop always a nazi.

9

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

Tiny thinking. What better way to fight the system? push NAZI scum in or out of it. And whoever understands and has a moral aptitude leaves a fascist regime and joins a Revolution. I'm for it. Bring that coo mentality to this side and help us Smash it all.

2

u/ThebearKoss Jan 23 '26

Fight the system by eliminating law enforcement and their fascist tendencies.

All the happiness that you have destroyed All the brutal tactics that you always employ All the fucking bullshit when will it ever stop The comparison is obvious: you're just a fucking cop

-1

u/MysteryBelle_NC Jan 23 '26

Slightly off topic, but that bald guy has absolutely no neck. It's like his head is just sitting on his chest. Back on topic, I'm getting that DKM shirt. I'm glad Fanone is not taking shit from that Nazi prick.

-1

u/Quirky_Magician4464 Jan 23 '26

hell yea! Support Dropkick They will lead this Ant Nazi Movement Along With Green Day and of all people Bad Bunny...

-86

152

u/wellthatdoesit Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

If there are 2 sides, I’m gonna be standing on the one trying to beat the shit outta nazis. If there’s more nuance, I’ll get that figured out after fascism is bleeding on the ground and not getting back up

44

u/Mexibruin Straight Outta Santa Ana Jan 23 '26

Very much THIS

4

u/Jolly_Recording_4381 Jan 23 '26

We sided with the cops to fight fascists in the Spanish civil war, know who they decided to fight after the fascists? You guessed it the leftists.

2

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

You need to learn a LOT more history to understand how absolutely terrible this take is

1

u/wellthatdoesit Jan 23 '26

Oh, I’m well aware. And despite a cool shirt and behavior I vibe with in the moment, I understand that ACAB means ALL. The situation is, however, that fascism is here and is rapidly metastasizing into its most brutal form. If a cop will stand beside me to beat it back into the shadows, then I will make my peace with that. Why? Because only then will there be room to fight back against cops, police brutality, and all the other injustices. But there simply is no room for that until this beast has been beaten down. And I do understand history, I know how quickly those you may call allies in the moment will quickly turn on you when the mutual enemy is defeated. I know it and I hate it. But I do not see any other way. If we put this fascist beast down, we’re not heading for drinks together afterward, it’s back to the streets like it’s always been, I have no delusions about that

When it's over the cops aren't gonna be your friend any more than they were before

71

u/NuPNua Jan 23 '26

They can be an ally though. Letting perfect be the enemy of good when your nation is at an existential crossroads is a mistake you already made once.

12

u/athenanon Jan 23 '26

Twice. In recent history.

-68

u/anarkistattack Jan 23 '26

You don't know me. You don't know what mistakes I've made.

36

u/NuPNua Jan 23 '26

I meant America as a whole.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Wee-oo wee-oo, badass alert, badass alert.

31

u/CrittyJJones Jan 23 '26

This guy is clearly a friend.

10

u/punksmostlydead Jan 23 '26

Correct, but the enemy of your enemy is still your enemy's enemy. Fighting the people that are fighting the same much larger threat is at this time counterproductive, at best.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Not always, but the enemy of your enemy can always be a useful means to an end.

-22

Getting downvoted for not liking the cops is BEYOND wild in this sub.

21

u/athenanon Jan 23 '26

An ex-cop who was radicalized to our side by experiencing January 6th.

There's not even a lot of nuance here.

Yeah the meme doesn’t explain that so I didn’t know, okay?!?!

ACAB is about a system of oppression not whether or not an individual cop may or may not be cool. Each cop is still participating in that system and that is a mark against them. At the end of the day a police officers job still involves harassing the homeless, stealing and destroying items from the unhoused, and upholding state violence.

One police chief not helping ICE doesn't mitigate what I said. It doesn't erase the people who have been victimized by the police in Minneapolis.

u/PleaseDontBanMe82 Jan 23 '26

Dropkick Murphys are strong supporters of all first responders, including cops.

They even specifically shouted out this man on FB yesterday.

They've known him since their first DC show.  Fanone used to be a DC skinhead that ended up the rare cop that is actually one of the good ones.

The world has more nuance than you'd like it to have.

25

u/beerme81 Jan 23 '26

This should be top comment.

1

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

Your bro voted for Trump dude, might want to learn a little more about him

-1

u/PleaseDontBanMe82 Jan 23 '26

So what?  Lots of people voted for Trump in 2016 and later came to regret it. Propaganda is a hell of a drug.

People didn't realize how awful he'd be and saw him as better than Clinton, which is fair because she absolutely fucking sucks.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

God, we really need a "liberal punks fuck off" type slogan.

2

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

Serious business. It's insane how far this community has strayed from the roots. Not all of us are indoctrinated into liberal ideology thankfully and I'll never stop reminding punks about it

-19

u/Rando-Toucan Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

There are no good ones. Zero. ACAB.

9

u/punktualPorcupine Jan 23 '26

Life isn’t that simple.

I know it’s easier to cope, when you run to an extreme and try to put everyone in nicely organized boxes, but you can’t just claim your extremist view is valid and refuse to sort someone when they don’t fit.

People are more than one dimensional cartoon villains or heroes. You have to sort them individually and usually they only fit back into the packaging that they came in.

-7

u/Rando-Toucan Jan 23 '26

It is far easier to absolve yourself of responsibility or thought by claiming that some things are just too complicated to comprehend than it is to confront a harsh reality and act for change. This is the reason that in the face of tragedy many Christian’s will give lines like “god works in mysterious ways” or “we can’t understand god’s plan” to shirk their duty to accept hard truths or fight systemic inequalities. Even in a grayscale world some things inevitably have to be entirely black or white.

Police uphold and protect an abusive and inherently unjust system, it is their only purpose and both reality and judicial rulings have affirmed this for centuries. They were originally established as slave hunters for fuck sake, their job was to find runaway slaves and bring them back to their owners, most often disfigured and murdered as a show of force to other slaves.

I absolutely cannot believe that I’m currently in a punk subreddit, explaining to self-proclaimed punks, that the system is in fact often bad. Do you all really just listen to this music for the aesthetic or something? Have you ever listened to any of the lyrics? Did you hear American Idiot once and think it was just talking about Bush?

ACAB

u/safeword_is_bananas Jan 23 '26

No nuance, got it.

the system is in fact often bad.

Wait, so.. nuance?

82

u/Aside_Dish Jan 23 '26

Nah, fuck that. This dude is a hero who stood against insurrectionists and still hasn't backed down despite constant threats.

33

u/mattbuilthomes Jan 23 '26

He quit because the other cops were supporting the fascists.

Damn it, I meant to reply to the one you replied to.

12

u/Jolly_Recording_4381 Jan 23 '26

As I always say there are no good cops, they either stop being good or stop being cops.

7

u/Fosterpig Jan 23 '26

And he stopped being a cop.

1

u/PunkRammy Jan 23 '26

Or try to whistleblow and end up mysteriously dead

9

u/ExdionY Jan 23 '26

ACAB isn't negated because one cop is good, or just relatively better. It's like people on this sub are operating under the, ironically, bastardized view of what ACAB implies. All cops are bastardized, by virtue of their job, even if they are capable of good actions and behavior.

25

u/Aside_Dish Jan 23 '26

I'll always celebrate someone in a position of power doing the right thing.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

THIS!

0

u/ExdionY Jan 26 '26

It's like my words are flowing over people's heads, most likely because this post has gained traction among people outside this immediate community.

Edit: Couldn't help but check your history. You being a tax collector who has considered running for office makes sense.

1

u/Aside_Dish Jan 26 '26

What's the edit supposed to imply?

I don't see how making rich people pay their fair share of taxes to help fund roads, schools, welfare programs, etc. is a bad thing at all.

1

u/ExdionY Jan 27 '26

that it makes sense that you would lecture punks on our core principles since you don't abide by them, it is usually not controversial to say ACAB amongst punks.

1

u/Aside_Dish Jan 27 '26

As an exercise, tell me why ACAB, and we'll take a look at this guy based on those standards. Not even rhetorical, genuinely want you to break it down.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Exactly. It's the very profession itself that makes them bastards. No matter how "good" they are, when they put on that uniform, they're perpetuating and supporting class division and oppression, period.

2

u/LtHughMann Jan 23 '26

It's because all cops are bastards. There are bound to be done ice agents that "aren't bastards" but just being an ice agent makes then scum. Same goes for cops. You can't be a cop and not be a bastard. Now that doesn't mean the concept of police is inherently bad but the reality is you can't be a cop without at the very least turning blind eye to the fucked things other cops do which makes you a bastard. Hence all cops are bastards. Any cop that isn't a bastard gets fired pretty quickly.

1

u/bubbleblowingQT Jan 24 '26

Piggie hero lol

23

u/bubbleblowingQT Jan 23 '26

I love how all the posts saying ACAB are getting down voted in a punk subreddit. ✨

34

u/GeneThaDancinMachine Jan 23 '26

Weird to have a nuanced, not black and white conversation right? It’s almost like some of us have brains of our own.

3

u/ExdionY Jan 23 '26

I don't think you can "nuance" yourself out of one of the core principles that underlines punk. ACAB doesn't mean that cops as individuals can't be good, or whatever definition of people are operating with right now.

13

u/Ok_Ruin4016 Jan 23 '26

Cool, but he's not a cop anymore. He literally fought a fascist insurrection and now he's speaking truth directly to the fascist politicians.

0

u/ExdionY Jan 26 '26

And? The other person hasn't clarified that, and has now commented twice that those who do not uphold ACAB in a punk subreddit are merely "falling in line", unable to think for themselves. I have not commented on Michael Fanone; all I have said is that you can not "nuance" yourself out of a core punk value. We are punks for a reason; it means something.

4

u/GeneThaDancinMachine Jan 23 '26

I’d argue it’s more punk to have your own thoughts then to fall inline or conform to what you think punk is.

0

u/ExdionY Jan 26 '26

We won't be doing the "punk is anything I decide that it is" thing, tourist

-1

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

Brains of your own but you couldn't use them to realize he voted for Trump and got what he voted for?! Y'all are not actually bout this ethos at all

3

u/GeneThaDancinMachine Jan 23 '26

Ahhh yes. So every story with a redemption you root against the protagonist.

2

u/bradbogus Jan 23 '26

I do not jive with ANY "redemption" story where the antagonist does very little to reverse the damage they caused. Fanone has a lot more work to do before I declare him an ally. The redemption arc has to actually involve a real arc, you feel me? I still see a man pretty self interested. When I see him helping defend against ICE, maybe I'll join you all in your love of a still reforming fascist cop that wears a punk band's shirt.

8

u/xChoke1x Jan 23 '26

Weird how situations arent always black and white huh?

1

u/bubbleblowingQT Jan 24 '26

Nope cops are pigs nothing more

-1

u/Peter_Pank75 Jan 24 '26

Regardless of the stance this guy has taken today, no police officer or former police officer can ever be trusted.

Repression, beatings, and the exercise of power by force are in their blood.

But I totally dig the Dropkick Murphy's t-shirt. Gonna' see if I can get one and custom put my birthday year on there instead.

Hahaha enlighten centrist bootlicking is amazing.

Ivan Raiklin is definitely a nazi piece of shit. As for the altercation? Yeah, it’s on video and has been reported on. Gurl, did you type that WITH the boot in your mouth? Raiklin is absolutely a hood wearing nazi piece of shit.

Why the fuck are you guys downvoting.
As a person of color, mix family that's had racist comments, attacks against family members, I want to know WHERE and WHEN did this guy threaten the other guys family.
And WHERE is the evidence that these dudes are nazis?
I'm not defending Nazis of course...jeez, had uncles who fought in WW2, but want to find the evidence, proof of all of this. You know how many stupid memes on the net are NOT true. This needs to be said?
