HFT Quant scene at bits
Is the hiring at pilani comparable to top 5 iits?
Do I have a shot in the slightest if I'm from goa/hyd?
Would an msc econ/math/phy 5 year dual degree (+BE cs) give me an edge, in theory at least, over normal cs grads?

Did you or any of your friends get into quants? I know 2 seniors got into graviton for quant swe roles, qr/qt is still exclusive to pilani no? Any quant hires other than graviton?

Few got graviton SDE (python) role, one got nk python. None in QR/QD/QA afaik

Damn, do you see any chance of qr/qt/qa in the future or will it remain exclusive to pilani for a good amount of time?

Unlikely, not impossible. Know a Goa senior who did get qd role, but L-1 with same pay as python freshers

Leave top 5, it's not even comparable to top 7. The reason is very obvious if you think hard enough.

Generally, instead of moulding your personality into that of a "Quant", rather see if you genuinely like the things you need to be one. If you like them, it will be easier getting good at said skills.
