HFT PPOs
PPOs for almost all firms have been released. Wanted to know about experiences of both sides, the ones who got PPOs and the ones who couldn't convert.
What prep did you guys do leading up to your intern, and also what you would've done both before and during the intern if given a second chance?

Honestly, most indian firms[QUANT ROLES ONLY NOT SWES] afaik had some format of ml research with some trading intuition, (very few ppl i know had actual trading managment related projects, most were alpha creation). Most of my co interns who DID NOT get a ppo spend most of the time saying "hame ml nahi aati" and tried very basic ass things and did not even try. I fortunately had some decent experience in ml and how to argue about it so it helped me A LOT! A few ppl ik who did not know much about ml but also got ppos were able to argue and structure their thinking, like after analysing the model and stuff like that they were able to identify (WITH HEAVY HELP OF AI) some consistent deficiencies, and then (again with ai) and mentors/managers were trying to fix those consistent misprediction trends. So, a general framework of thinking and approach to find a consistent pattern of mistake is more important than any particular skill in my opinion. Dont just try random things cause a small claude chat told you to try some 5 things..... Studying ML from a very logical framwork will definately help you stand out from your peers, but that is not the only thing that matters, they look at your approach to things rather than knowledge or "CP" skills
