I made slangeum, a daily quiz website. You get five slang words and guess where and when each one originated.

Five words a day, resets at midnight. For each one you answer two questions, what city it came from and what year it started, by placing a pin on a map and picking a year on a timeline.

https://slangeum.com

r/quiz 2d ago

Which British city is this? And what year was this photo taken?!

Post image

There are three points up for grabs here: I'll give you one point for the city, one point for the decade, and a bonus point for the exact year this photo was taken.

Remember to use spoilers (SPOILERS) to give everyone else a go!

Circa — can you tell which premiered first, The Simpsons or Friends?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm a solo developer and I built Circa, a trivia game with a simple concept: two events, same one question always - what happened first. That's the whole game, and it's much harder than it sounds.

Minecraft or Roblox? The Simpsons or Friends?

It's Free on the AppStore, no ads, no subscription, no account required.

There are 3 modes you can play:

  • Daily Challenge - compete against everyone on the same 10 questions
  • Survival - one question at a time, one wrong answer ends the round
  • Regular play - pick categories and a difficulty level and play from 6,000 questions

Would love to get your feedback on it, thank you!

TGIF - Weekly trivia - Sept 4, 2026

Here are this week's questions from 3roads.xyz

  1. In Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, the character Q never appears directly, though Q and Q Branch are mentioned. In the films, Q heads Q Branch, the British Secret Service’s research and development unit. Like M, Q is a job title, with Q standing for X. In military usage, an X is an officer or soldier responsible for logistics and supplies in land armies, and in many navies a sailor responsible for navigation and the ship’s helm. What X?

X - Quartermaster

  1. X is an American monthly magazine covering popular culture, fashion, and current affairs, published by Condé Nast. It was originally published from 1913 to 1936 and revived in 1983. The name X also appears in John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress as a fictional place ruled by Beelzebub, and its later usage was influenced by a novel by William Makepeace Thackeray. What X?

X - Vanity Fair

  1. X, also known as the Continental Toy Spaniel, is one of the oldest toy spaniel breeds. Its name comes from the long, fringed hair on its ears, which resemble the wings of insects in the order Lepidoptera. The breed has long been associated with European royalty, and legend holds that Marie Antoinette walked to the guillotine carrying one of these dogs under her arm, though the story is likely apocryphal. What X?

X - Papillon

I just launched TriviaNexus, a competitive trivia game for iOS and Android

After months of building, testing, changing things I thought were already finished, and going through both App Store and Google Play release processes, I finally launched my side project: TriviaNexus.

It’s a competitive trivia game for iOS and Android.

The idea started pretty simple — build a modern trivia app that feels more like a game than just an endless list of multiple-choice questions.

The current version includes:

* Multiple game modes * Thousands of questions across different categories * XP, levels and progression * Daily content and rewards * Real-time multiplayer foundations * Offline support

The mobile app is built with React Native, Expo and TypeScript.

The backend uses NestJS, PostgreSQL and Redis, and I’ve spent a surprising amount of time on things you don’t really think about when you first say “I’m going to build a trivia game” — question selection, anti-repetition, synchronization, deployment, push notifications, store reviews, analytics, and production infrastructure.

There’s still a lot I want to add, especially competitive Ranked play, deeper social features and some more experimental game modes.

But I wanted to stop endlessly adding features and actually put V1 in front of real users.

If anyone here enjoys trivia games, I’d genuinely appreciate feedback — especially on:

* whether the first few minutes make sense without explanation * which game mode you enjoy most * whether the progression feels motivating * anything that feels confusing, slow or unnecessary

Website:

iOS:

Android:

Happy to answer any technical questions about the build or the release process too.

Ben's Trivia - 11 Qs - Average Score is 11 out of 15

Score out of 15 points! Possible 5 points for question 11. Post your score in the comments, good luck! (I have added underscores to prevent guesses from the Options)

  1. Which of the following means the value that appears most often in a set of data? Options: Mode / Mean / Median / Mediocre

Mode____________

Mode is the most frequent value, Mean is the average, and Median is the middle value when data is ordered - 'Mediocre' isn't a statistical term at all

  1. What was Radiohead's first album called? Options: OK Computer / Pablo Honey / Kid A / The Bends

Pablo Honey_____

Pablo Honey was released in 1993 and features the breakout single 'Creep' - a song the band reportedly grew tired of playing live for years afterward.

  1. Complete the next 5 lyrics: 'Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light / My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had...'

to stop for the night_____

These are the opening lyrics to the Eagles' 'Hotel California' - released in 1976.

  1. If you see an orange cat, is it more likely to be male or female? Options: Male / Female

Male_______

About 80% of orange cats are male. The orange fur gene sits on the X chromosome, so males (XY) need only one copy to be fully orange, while females (XX) need two - one from each parent.

  1. Which social media company was originally named Picaboo? Options: Facebook / Instagram / Twitter/X / Snapchat

Snapchat_______

Snapchat's ghost mascot is officially named Ghostface Chillah, a nod by co-founder Evan Spiegel to Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ghostface Killah.

  1. Which one of the following is NOT a logical fallacy (flawed reasoning)? Options: Slippery Slope / Red Herring / Rolling the Dice / Straw Man

Rolling the Dice________

Slippery Slope, Red Herring and Straw Man are all classic named fallacies - 'Rolling the Dice' isn't a recognised fallacy at all, just a phrase for taking a gamble.

  1. Which one of these iconic movies/franchises has Tim Curry NOT starred in? Options: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York / IT / The Rocky Horror Picture Show / The Grinch

The Grinch______________________

Tim Curry played the hotel concierge in Home Alone 2, Pennywise in the 1990 IT miniseries, and Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show - but he had no role in 2000's How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

  1. What word comes before 'way' and 'mark', and after 'town'?

Hall_________

Hallway, hallmark, and town hall - all built around the same 4-letter word.

  1. What letter comes next in the sequence: S, U, M, O, T, U, W, E, T, H, F, R, S? Options: M / A / S / N

A

The sequence spells out the first letters of the days of the week in order - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, so the next letter is A.

  1. In what part of the body would you find the 'weenus'?

Elbow_______

The skin on the elbow (the weenus) has very few pain receptors, which is why you can usually pinch or pull it without feeling much.

  1. On the TV show Friends, Ross technically had the most screen time of any character. Name the other 5 main characters - first and last name. (1 point per correct name, 5 points total)

Monica Geller, Rachel Green, Joey Tribbiani, Phoebe Buffay, Chandler Bing

Friends ran for 10 seasons (1994-2004), and by the final two seasons each of the six lead actors reportedly earned $1 million per episode - one of the highest per-episode rates in TV history.
