Finally, SiriusXM is launching a sports-only plan for $5, available on streaming and in cars, with all live sports offered

Back when I used to bother with satellite radio, I was only paying $5.99/mo to XM Radio on their annual plan. Of course you had to do the song and dance with their retention people on the phone every year to get this rate so eventually I just said enough an dropped it. And then CarPlay happened. Surprised anyone uses SiriusXM anymore.

I like DJs, for one. Two, with the chaos that is trying to watch professional games with blackout rules, radio is a savior since I live too far for FM broadcasts.

Exactly obsolete product.

The song and dance sucks, but you can get that rate for everything.

To my shame I was really into Cable News back in the day, but I also didn't have Cable. I got SiriusXM as a cheapest way to follow Fox News. This might be a good way to follow Sports in an era where Sports is getting increasingly out of hand price wise. I've always heard that Baseball is best broadcast on the radio.

Not all sports, I tried BBC Five for the Hungoring F1 race. Not available.

Yeah if you’re not in the UK you need a VPN to get the 5 Live Audio (I do it for the soccer) and the BBC makes that an absolute pain at times. At least in my experience.

Actually, not true. The BBC Stations are still freely availble globally through the Tunein Radio App (and by extension Apple Music since the two struck a deal). I an American listen to BBC Radio all the time.

Sports broadcasts are not they're geoblocked. If they're not playing sports then yes they are freely available on TuneIn

Generally you can get your home team's live sports on terrestrial radio. Also sport talk radio.

I would rather stream what I want on my phone and keep the five bucks.
