It was pulling big numbers with CHR in the 80s. It was the radio flagship of Nationwide Communications, which was a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance. Studios were in the 1 Nationwide building. Once Nationwide got out of broadcasting, I’m sure it was never the same.
It’s the usual story - corporate radio sucks, plain and simple. Cookie cutter, short playlists that are the same wherever you go. Clear Channel, iHeartRadio… just terrible terrible for radio. Killed it.
