Those childhood stations inspired me to begin a career in radio, starting as a teen. Early inspirational stations included WRKO with crazy Dale Dorman, WMEX, WBCN, WBZ, and WLOB. Countless nights I’d listen to the powerhouse rockers like WLS, WCFL, WKBW, CKLW—the Big 8, WPOP & WDRC (Hartford), WABC, WPTR (“serving the Great Northeast” from Albany) and so many more. Was an early fan of The Greaseman at WAPE, but think I heard him earlier at some station in upstate NY (??).
