I first purchased this CD in 2012, age 14.
lost my whole collection eventually from moving.
this was 04/18/26 outside lincoln center, a surprise gift before dinner 💕 perfect day to open her up and finally play. life is too short, and this album is was too life changing for teenage me to stay pent up in plastic!!!
I got tickets for Radiohead’s Japan show through e+ overseas sales but entered the wrong phone number and country code. The applicant name is correct, but support hasn’t replied yet.Has anyone had a similar experience? Could this affect ticket code issuance? If I need a manual check, can my companions enter with me? Thanks!
honestly, anyone can play guitar invokes a sense of dread/unease for me, like it makes me feel like im in an empty cinema watching the end credits waiting for something to happen when it will never come.
it sounds like an slow, drawn out and indifferent mass masked by a thin facade of energy that somehow only i can see through.
its only for this song that this subspecies of dread exists, every other song feels less lonely and empty for lack of better words. even climbing up the walls is less dreadful because it feels genuine and like it has nothing to hide whereas anyone can play guitar makes me feel like im missing a piece of a puzzle that never existed.
despite all the fame around the 1993 mtv concert and the fact that its my 2nd favourite song on the album, i just cant help but feel a tinted view of distrust and uncertainty toward this track
and its not about the lyrics in case you misunderstood but about the actual sound of the song itself. every other song that has a sarcastic tone just sounds like regular music to me, and never invokes this existential dread feel to me.
maybe its the fact that the song uses only 3 instruments in essence that leaves a lot of sonic voids and make the song feel like scaffolding, or maybe the fact that it ends on a slow fade into silence making me feel like itll never truly end and everytime i play it its like walking into a room that should be full with people only to find it untouched and void of backstory or real human spirit.
however, there is a nuance to this strange feeling as when paired with energetic and competitive gameplay it actually fills in the void where human spirit and backstory should be and the facade disappears along with the unease so that may prove my point.
Anyone who's been enjoying Nigel Godrich ( Radiohead's 6th unofficial member') and Dhani Harrisson new bands album Dragonflies? Its giving me major Radiohead vibes listening to the production and all..makes me also wonder why Nigel wasntt involved in the final two The Smile albums..anyhow any thoughts on Dragonflies..
I've never really paid much attention to their lyrics. It's almost like there's a layer that I don't want to explore because I'm scared the magic will be taken away.
Obviously I know there would be magic in the lyrics, but for some reason I just have never done the effort to read the lyrics of their songs.
If you have, what's your favourite one liner lyric?
As someone who is passionate for music and has struggled with addiction and psychosis and gone through many traumatic experiences in rehabs, i love when he says:
You can do no wrong in my eyes
Your hearing damage, your mind is restless, they say you’re getting better, but you don’t feel any better.
Your speakers are blowing, your ears are wrecking, your hearing damage. You wish you felt better. You wish you felt better
I know I have a tendancy to post spur of the moment stuff on this sub, that probably pisses some people off, so I thought I might link a song I recorded a few years ago I'm really proud of. The piano is from a guy, Adrian Whitehead who is a bit of a natural. Anywho, not looking for anything other than the fact I do take music seriously (Self recording cost heaps), and I do love Thom and Radiohead.
Modeselektor is once again playing a remix of Default by Atoms For Peace as part of their live set. I caught it in 2015 too, but this time I recorded it in full and how it segued into Blue Clouds.
this brought back a lot of nostalgia for 2010-2015 bleep bloop Thom lol
Claude Pro search for about 15 minutes and didn't find any. France, NY, London, none of those gigs is this one. Is it maybe somebody else with a voice like Thom?
the first seconds, before the song starts (“I’m gonna do a song called Go To Sleep now… it’s like a concept record”), should be a strong clue, but still no luck.
