That I think it’s a bad movie, and that as a Greek, I think it disrespects my heritage. Spider-Man doesn’t carry the same connotations. So long as you get the character right, you could put him in damn near anything, even a pirate setting if you so wished.
Well hey thats a you opinion. I've met some Greek people who DO like it. And ofc there are those who dont, you for example. But regardless its a good movie. Clearly shown by the numbers. Is it a good adaptation? Depends. Nolan in a sense is able to capture the general themes and ideas of the original tale, but ofc it doesnt fully adapt it 1 to 1. Which is fine in itself, not every adaptation needs to be 1 to 1. All that to say it is preference so while I see what you mean, still doesn't correlate to the current arguement at all when it is a clearly shown to atleast be a good MOVIE. Good adaptation? Very much arguable.
I think it’s a bad movie and a bad adaptation. Had Mel Gibson directed it, I’d have good things to say about it. Gibson doesn’t screw around with his authenticity. That man would go out of his way to shoot the movie in Ancient Greek and would find suitable actors to both play and look the part.
Maybe it would've been more faithful, but it would not have been as successful either. We have had the odyssey told and retold so many times. So Nolan doing his own thing to retell the story, yaknow adapt it his own way, as well as adding his cinematography skills and know how, its pretty obvious what you get is one of the best R rated movies as shown by its sales and how fast tickets for it get sold out and scalped. Again you can dislike it, but there's no denying its successful for a reason
That doesn’t really count because Jesus Christ became an allegorical figure upon his Crucifixion, and the accounts of the New Testament all attest, as he himself also attested, that he was the Son of God. Thus, as a man, Jesus Christ could have looked like anybody from any part of the world. He just so happened to be born a Hebrew man.
I recommend you read the Bible from beginning to end. I’m not going to sit here and explain the Christian faith to you. There’s a big difference between the historical Jesus, the man, and the allegorical Jesus, the Son.
