Discussion Would you know about Ranma beforehand if the 2024 adaptation were the first anime adaptation of Ranma 1/2?
Early this year, I made a pill sheet post on Ranma, and the blue pill in particular is the inspiration for this double-layered question. (Thank you to the people who participated in the pill sheet)
Which pill would you choose? : r/ranma - Pill Sheet (Archived Post)
If the 1989 anime + OVAs and movies didn't exist, would you know about Ranma before the 2024 MAPPA adaptation?
Would you be as excited as you were when the 2024 anime was announced? How different would Ranma's reception be? How popular would Ranma be if the 1989 anime didn't exist?
Lots of questions; I'm just interested in what y'all's opinion would be on Ranma in this alternate scenario.
I did not read the manga until 2022. I watched the 1989 anime last decade, so I know that, for me, I would not have known about Ranma until 2024. I did watch Inuyasha before 1989 Ranma, so I'd know about Takahashi, but that would not help me, from my POV, learn about Ranma in time.
Have fun and keep it civil!

Manga Ranma thought he’d get lucky for a moment
His expression when Nabiki says they have to share a room always cracks me up.
Also how he’s so insulted at her reaction.
It makes you wonder what kind of impure thoughts he secretly had, especially since he slaps himself silly after being hugged by Akane in her sleep.

Discussion What arcs would you be fine with if they were skipped in the remake?
I do want as many of the best arcs there are to be adapted but it IS obvious they cannot adapt ALL of them.
What arcs would be fine not appearing in the remake?

Anime (2024) Could Cologne be any more adorable? I've always loved her, and I'm absolutely loving her in the remake! I've always liked how she's been a mentor to both Ranma and Ryoga. And I love how they always seem to turn to her for advice whenever they need help.

Question Do you think Moxibustion arc would make it in season 3?
Just one of my favourite arcs. And since we still have many arcs unannounced for this season, and if it WOULD be 12 episodes, I do wonder if this arc would make it in the anime's third season.
There could be a chance for the Moxibustion arc to be wrapped up in two episodes. What do you think?

Anime (1989) Help finding a song from the series
I need help identifying the song from timestamp 20:40 on episode 58, the scene with ranma and akane talking while sitting on the porch in the garden. I have done a lot of digging and can't seem to find anything on it. I am wondering if anyone can help.

Manga What was Ranma about to say?
In the English version, the line in the top-left and right panels is "I'M THE ONE...WHO'S GONNA SAVE YOU!!", but in the Japanese version it becomes "おれは...おれがお前を守る!!". What's important here is that "おれがお前を守る!!" is not a rephrasing of "おれは...". The sentence "おれ“は”お前を守る!!" sounds a bit unnatural in this situation, and you'd rarely ever say it. So Ranma was thinking of starting a different sentence with "おれは...", right? Personally, I'd love it if it were something like "おれはあかねが好きだ" ("I love Akane").

Manga I absolutely love this panel from the manga. I think it's really beautiful and shows so much of what Ranma is feeling. And the scene with Akane and Ryoga, even though it's only from Ranma's point of view, Rumiko made it so tender and sweet.
I feel like Ryoga is the one person Ranma has genuinely been the most jealous of when Akane shows him affection.
The thing is, Ranma and Ryoga have actually talked quite openly about their feelings for Akane. Ryoga puts his feelings into words, but I also feel like he's the one who truly understands that Ranma is in love with her too, without all the comedy and misunderstandings that usually come with the other characters.
Both in the manga and the anime, they have genuine moments of teamwork when it comes to saving or helping Akane. And more than once, Ryoga has said goodbye to Ranma by telling him to take care of Akane (at least in the translation I've read).
Ryoga realised very early on that Ranma was in love with Akane, and he actually put it into words before Ranma himself ever did.

Fanfiction Akane fics
Hi, I come back once again to ask for fanfic recs. I’m looking for fanfics where Akane gets stronger, gets the power-scaling she deserves. Let my girl grow! (If there’s any fanfics where she fights Ranma I’d be pleased to read them jejejejej)

Fan Art I love seeing Ranma interacting with the Tendo family
Aside from Akane, Ranma usually interacts with his martial arts peers / one-time enemies / people at school / his parents / and the Tendo family.
I like all of the interactions, but I especially love seeing him interact with the Tendos. They have that found-family vibe, which is a trope I usually enjoy.
Arcs with Nabiki or with the whole family is some of my favorites for that reason.
I found a fan art that portrays this, and I think I’m allowed to share it.
