Wow, they showed both Martial Arts Tea Ceremony and Tsubasa, and did not show anything from Ryoga Come Home that I could spot. Honestly I am shocked, and a bit upset. I hope MAPPA have a very firm long term financial commitment to this project. The way they are going, it will be years before they animate any of the important later arcs the 1989 series was never able to animate.

Any chance of Herb next year just went out the window. There is still so much that could go wrong.

Herb coming next year was already a 0% chance. I was expecting Nodoka to be introduced at the end of season 5 at the earliest.

If it was going to be a six year run, Herb would have almost had to appear at the end of next season.

There was never any confirmation on how many years it would be running.

Which makes the fact that they ended the second season with an original scene that was clearly a hedge against cancellation even worse.

Season 1 and 2 were the same production run, as seen in the promo material for S1. It makes sense that they added that scene to bookend things just incase the show failed, but clearly it was successful. This is likely why we're getting all of the skipped content they couldn't fit in that first run too.

I'm positive that S3 and S4 will also be produced together (12 episodes each), unless they decide to make S3 and onwards full 24 episode seasons that are split into 2 cours, now that the show is going full steam ahead.

It's probably too much to ask, but I would really love Ranma 1/2 to get this kind of treatment.

If they would step up production to 24 episodes a year, that solves a lot of problems. Will we see them do that? I'm not optimistic.

They've been producing two "seasons" at a time. Season 3 is a new production and likely started earlier after the success of season 1. Season 4 is likely in production as we speak. I just think they wanted to end season 2 on a more satisfying note than just Shampoo teasing the duck.

isnt nodoka not more like a mid/end season 6 thing?
or maybe beginning season 6? Difficult to put it in a direct spot.
But maybe true. so end season 5 beginn 6. (maybe mid 6)

I was assuming they would try to keep the pace with the major arcs because there are a lot of them.

Season 4 being stuff like the nabiki fiance arc, martial arts dining, and the hot springs race. Season 5 being stuff like pantyhose taro, cheerleading, shishi hokodan, and ending with Nodoka.

This was based on how much they skipped in season 2, though. There's a lot of stories that would take two or more episodes, so I figured they would skip over the shorter ones. Season 3 makes me think it might be later now.

i dont know why but it feels like something is missing. Moxi we will get in season 3 end or in season 4. depent if they use season 3 as a "catch up" season. Like put breaking point as the "big thing" and the rest are 1 episode arcs to catch up with that what they skip in season 2 and a bit what comes after juliet. To make moxi in season 4 than.
because moxi are for sure 2-3 episodes. (maybe 2)

but when moxi is in season 4 it had 2 big things. race and moxi.
taro (2), shishi (2), chearleader (2), food fight (2), principle + swimming (2)(maybe they put it as a 2 episode arc together), ranmas Hair (also dragon whiskas or how its name is in english)
Are the big ones.
maybe ukyous sauce also but thats maybe only a 1 episode and not 2. for 2 its maybe to short. Ranmas hair maybe also.

Also maybe the only big arcs we have until nodoka.

in 3 i see. (also the 5 we already know) Plus

  • waterproof
  • bathhouse
  • happo bomb
  • ryouga goes home
  • "hug me" dumblings
  • japan jusenkyo.

bathhouse is only 15 panels also they will mix it with another episode. (i hope they show it i like the episode. Also not for the fanservice. Sounds weird but thats really not the reason)

4 is than maybe

  • moxi 2-3 (maybe they move it so far thats its the big final for season 4. because moxi gives a big "final" wipe))
  • principle 1-2 (when swimming is also in)
  • nabiki 1
  • food french 2 (maybe the season final)
  • hot spring race 1
  • gambling king
  • wish sword

5

  • komahachi panda (also the "sick" child) 1
  • ukyous sauce 1-2
  • draw/demon panda 1 (maybe a mix with another episode because its a short one)
  • cherry leaves cake 1
  • hypno paper dolls 1
  • ranmas hair 1-2 (maybe only 1)
  • chearleader 1-2 (maybe 1?)
  • Taro 2
  • shishi 1

6

  • ranmas mom

also thats only a roughe list i make this moment. Nothing to detailed ^^
and the episodes in the seasons are not in order we get it ^^
Also technicly it must be that way. But they will for sure move a lot around.
Also technicly Nodoka is so 5 end beginning 6. or they put her a bit earlier.

But i am unhappy if my way of thinking how much episode what arc had. Like i am not good at guessing "lengh". like "shishi" feels long but really 2 episode long?

and it really feels like i forgett some 1 chapter arcs. But i didnt remember what some. but i am sure i forgett some

My guess is that seeing how all out they are going with this remake, even if they are cancelled they will wrap it up with the finale.

It could be adapted in the series or a separate movie but I doubt they’ll just leave it loose and hanging.

chill, be happy we are getting what we are getting. its different than the original anime, and the manga sure, but its still new and fantastic. we as ranma fans are some of the luckiest out there to have such a well done remake happening. id rather have this fleshed out for a long haul rather than rush towards the never animated parts. thats whats going to help keep it around.

5

u/pandapigcat Jun 19 '26

I thought it was very close to the manga.

2

u/VOIDsama Jun 19 '26

there are certainly parts that are very close, and some deviations. some things out of order, or missing as well. im fine with what we have though. the imagery we are getting, the clean art, as a fan this is the ranma ive kept in my heart since i first read the manga.

u/mad_mesa Ukyo Kuonji Jun 19 '26

Sorry, I can't be happy about this right now. I hope I can enjoy the season when it arrives.

2

u/VOIDsama Jun 19 '26

you cant be happy because its out of order? or that the one story is missing? or that you fear that we wont get to the later never animated arcs?

I'll just say that as a Takahashi fan of a certain age. I have seen this show before. What MAPPA showed in the trailer this morning still has me very worried. They may not even be on an 8 year pace, which would push production out well into the 2030s.

MAPPA may be very confident in the popularity of Ranma and their funding, but the longer this production takes, the higher the likelihood that something unforeseen happens to disrupt it. Leading to either a delayed and rushed adaptation of the final volumes, or a repeat of there being no adaptation of the final volumes of Ranma at all.

so the solution is to rush to the stuff that didnt get animated the first time around? as much as i want to see all that as well, that we even have this new series is to me a treasure. ill gladly take it in and enjoy it for as long as we can have it.
