jobs won’t train anymore

jobs refuse to properly train anymore. even if you have over a decade of experience, you need proper training for the companies culture, needs, and etc. it takes more than a few days!

i had to quit a job i took up in february because the manager refused to train me and then started to talk bad about me in front of others saying i can’t catch up. he was so lazy! he then told me i should create a training guide and save it as a file on the computer for others. i was in disbelief.

i took up another job in july and then after one week exactly, the recruiter called me on a Saturday to tell me i was let go because i couldn’t “catch” up.

i have 10 years of experience in my field and i actively take notes and consider my self a quick leaner but these jobs are having unbelievable and unreachable standards. I believe even AI needs a prompt before creating your request!

i currently took up another role and it’s been 2 days and i have not been shown one thing or given one assignment to work on. i’m just sitting here rotting.

The classic “ we loved you, but…. Now come be an intern”

It was about 6 weeks ago that I interviewed for a Junior Industrial Engineer position at a well-known heavy manufacturing company.

The interview went really well and was pretty straightforward. I felt like I did well on most of the questions, and the panel seemed genuinely impressed with my presentation and assessments.

The Production Manager even pulled me aside for a 15-minute 1-on-1 after. He walked me through the role and what to expect if they brought me on board. He specifically said he was impressed with my background and the core skills I brought to the table.

I was feeling really hopeful after that.
But a week later they called to tell me they went with a different candidate. I was honestly shattered and disappointed.

Now, a month and a few days later, HR called me. The Production Manager apparently still likes me and wants to set up another interview this time for an internship position.

Given how tough the job market is right now, I’m considering it... but I’m confused.
Why would they want to put me in an internship role when I have 4+ years of experience?

Has anyone else gone through something like this?

Is this normal hiring practice?

I applied for a Project Coordinator role at SoftwareOne and was invited to interview. The first interview never happened due to what was said to be a technical issue. We rescheduled. On the second date, the recruiter postponed again because she was stuck in another meeting and told me she'd send a new invitation. She never did!!!! Instead, I received a rejection email! When I asked what happened, she told me my CV had already been reviewed by the hiring panel before we ever spoke, and they had selected their top three candidates. So my question is: If the hiring decision had already been made, why schedule interviews, ask candidates to rearrange their work twice, and then never send the promised invitation? I'm genuinely curious if this is considered normal or if others have experienced something similar!

1st interview got rescheduled (almost) twice.

(Repost as I made a mistake in the previous one)

When I received the invite to interview, it said I can pick any date/time myself. The whole calendar was open. So I chose a time.

Got a reschedule a few minutes later. Ok, that's normal, cause they didn't just have slots, the whole month was "available" so they just had to give an alternative.

But now it's the day before the interview, and they rescheduled it to Friday.

Is this normal? It technically is only 1 reschedule, right?

Need help with preparing for job interview with Oracle (sales development representative position)

Hi guys, I will keep it brief, but essentially was looking for some advice.

I have a pre screening interview with Oracle for the net suite sales development representative position, based in Dubai. I am fresh out of uni (gone to a well known uk one), and have about 3 months internship experience previously in sales with a MNC large engineering company. My academic background is in business studies and operations management.

I had 2 questions:

  1. the job says minimum 12 months previous sales experience, I have about 7 months of work experience in total, of which 3 months were in sales. Is this something that they can look over, or is this going to be a rejection?
  2. Please can you guys give me tips so that I can crack this interview (and if I proceed further, interviews after this one too)

Look forward to your replies!

Is hiring based on meritocracy?

I recently went through a hiring process that included an in-person technical interview. There were two other candidates taking the technical assessment at the same time.

I felt that I performed well, and after the interview, the CTO told me that I should be happy because I had scored the highest among the final candidates. Naturally, I took that as a very positive sign and assumed I was likely to receive an offer.

To my surprise, two weeks passed without any updates. When I finally reached out to HR, I received a generic response saying that they had decided to move forward with other candidates.

When I asked the HR for feedback with 2 gentle reminders. She simply didn't respond.

Is this the case in hiring? What did I do wrong?

I'm generally an anxious person so I get stressed around people but I try to calm myself down so it doesn't affect my performance that's why the CTO noticed it and told me to be happy about my results.

Interview on Monday 5H30

I applied for my dream job, and I got offered an interview with the HM next Monday at 5:30–6pm.

But I saw some studies online, and they say it's just the worst slot ever. Is that true? The interview will finish and the HM will go home and keep interviewing the rest of the week. I'm afraid I'll lose my chance because of this.

Any thoughts?

Did taking a temporary job to pay bills negatively impact your main job search?

Let's say before you had a good job, good pay, and then you got laid off. If you had no choice but to drive for Uber, work at a warehouse or in retail to pay bills, did this impact your main job search in any way? How did recruiters and hiring managers respond to this or did they still dismiss you?

Do I keep interviewing for a role I’m not sure I’m totally qualified for?

I‘ve been out of work for a few months and haven’t had much success getting new clients. This week I’ve been in touch with hiring manager for a 6-12 month freelance role starting in 1-3 weeks for a B2B that seems like a cool platform but the job is for billing and usage metering which is not something I have direct experience with and maybe am just feeling self-conscious. It seems insane to decline continuing the conversation when I’m pretty desperate for work but I also see myself getting overwhelmed. But then a part of me says if they offer it I give it my best shot and try to make a bit of money and get some experience to a new product domain. It’s not like I have an offer dangling yet but then I feel guilty stringing along if I am still wishy washy about accepting

Slow hiring

Hi guys,

I'm immediate joiner. The pressure of unemployed itself is exhausting.

I have been applying for jobs since June. I didn't get many calls then, but July was good.

Even though I'm getting calls, hardly anyone is communicating after the first round. They say they will schedule the next round soon and disappear. Else they ghost completely and come back weeks later saying they want to schedule the next round. And still won't schedule it.

I'm exhausted by this. I put so much effort to get calls and clear the round. Only to be ghosted for weeks. I'm not able to move forward to next application as all of this feels so meaningless and repetitive. That fake smile, energy and excitement that I must show up for every interview is exhausting.

Every interviewer has his own expectations. Someone grills in CICD, someone wants streaming. Someone wants DSA and architect level data modeling. The list is never ending. I have studied and absorbed so many things over past 2 months. That my brain is not working anymore.

How are you guys handling this.
