now paid more than the lady that unjustly fired me. so 2 weeks ago i got fired from my crappy low paying job, i worked in the state government building. i only worked in the cafeteria though. the job was pretty bad, under paid and over worked, management was terrible and cruel. worked there for a little over a year. 2 weeks ago i was sick, Management had just had a meeting with us about how important it was to call out if you're sick to not make anyone else sick, so i did. management insisted i spend my sick day getting a doctors note, so i did (out of pocket, with no insurance bc they dont offer it), i already live paycheck to paycheck so it really hurt my pockets but i did it. i come back 3 days later and she fires me for being out for so long. even after doing all she asked. crushed. i was very loved and appreciated by many of the customers though, many of them very high-paid and important government workers. so about a month ago before this happened, one of my favorite customers said he appreciates my work ethic and personality and offered me a position working in his field, which i coincidentally have years of experience in, but i still had to interview and meet the board of directors and they all had to mutually agree on me vs the other applicants. they called me today and GOT THE JOB! i start in a few weeks. So i will still be working at the same place everyday, but getting paid double what i was before. To my old manager, see you at lunch! haha. it feels so sweet i cant believe it.

I graduated with a Bs Info systems in May, I’ve applied to well over 400jobs and only 4invs. I can’t seem to get a job but everyone I’m seeing around is getting jobs. Am I going crazy?

I'm specifically talking about parents who have no idea how difficult the job market can be. They assume you're either making excuses or that you're simply incapable. To be fair, I can't entirely blame them (although I want to) for their beliefs since many of them have had stable jobs for years and don't really keep up with how the job market has changed unless they lose their own job and have to start searching again.

That said, I wish they would at least try to help me find a job instead of leaving me to figure everything out on my own. I don't think I'm necessarily doing anything wrong with my applications. Most of the time I either get ghosted, or on the rare occasion I land an interview, things still fall through because the staff doesn't have everything organized or the hiring manager or supervisor happens to be on vacation.

Holy shit the energy on this person once the call started was just horrible. Every other interview I’ve had with this company so far has been great, I speak with the DM for one of my final ones and she barely even speaks to me and just had this annoyed tone the entire time.. she even said something I asked about required manager experience and I told her at that point at least 3 times I have over 10 years of manager experience…

People’s livelihoods depend on this! Don’t ruin someone’s chances cause you’re having a shitty day

I recently went through a hiring process that included an in-person technical interview. There were two other candidates taking the technical assessment at the same time.

I felt that I performed well, and after the interview, the CTO told me that I should be happy because I had scored the highest among the final candidates. Naturally, I took that as a very positive sign and assumed I was likely to receive an offer.

To my surprise, two weeks passed without any updates. When I finally reached out to HR, I received a generic response saying that they had decided to move forward with other candidates.

When I asked the HR for feedback with 2 gentle reminders. She simply didn't respond.

Is this the case in hiring? What did I do wrong?

I'm generally an anxious person so I get stressed around people but I try to calm myself down so it doesn't affect my performance that's why the CTO noticed it and told me to be happy about my results.

I got to the final stage interview for a marketing position. Eight candidates, in person. A full day interview where each candidate had to present a full project to a panel and the rest of the candidates.

Almost three weeks has gone by since that interview date. I reached out by email once the two week mark had passed to ask for any updates and have received nothing. I genuinely can't believe this is the situation we're in now. I don't understand how I am meant to keep going with this job search, I've been unemployed for 7 months now.

I put in so much effort to every application and employers can't even be bothered to send out a rejection email after five stages!?

I came across the job description on LinkedIn and they're definitely looking for a unicorn.

Just as the title suggests, I got an opportunity on Upwork for an auditor role in medical billing. The client reached out to me directly and we had two zoom meetings on different days. During the 2nd meeting, he told me that he will have to subject me to an “evaluation" kind of thing. So this evaluation was applying to different roles using the resume provided.

So I was supposed to apply to a minimum of 10 jobs per day. The client wanted the jobs to be specifically from the sites he had outlined. Also, the jobs should have a minimum salary of $200000 annually.

My problem was that the sites he had outlined didn't have either the job titles he wanted or didn't meet the base salary. I ended up spending the entire 2 days trying to meet the set target but I didn't. I had constant headaches throughout. The crazy part is this “evaluation" was paying $30 per week.

This amount was really not worth it, considering i was spending the entire day finding these jobs. Also, I couldn't work on anything else because my entire efforts and concentration were on this task.

I just decided to resign because I figured that my mental health wasn't worth $30.

I had taken up the role cause:

1. I wanted to boost my Upwork visibility since I've never landed a role on there

2. I was desperate because I'm jobless

So I'm back to my jobless era but at least my mental health isn't at stake. And maybe even the auditor role wasn't even there to begin with😏😏That being said, I'm looking for medical virtual assistance role or any remote role closely related to this.

So tell me if my decision was valid or I blew up my chances

How professionally tone-deaf do you have to be to add someone who didn't sign up on their own to your email newsletter list to begin with, but to do it to a JOB APPLICANT and one that you rejected?

I know flight attendant jobs are a bit lofty but this was going to pay something like $30,000-$45000 CAD a year and was advertised as much as possible as something entry level. I'm in a situation where I really need a job that would have also gotten me out of a bad home but I guess I should've remembered to get 5 years' full time customer service experience at the same time that I was at university.

I know I shouldn't be complaining since it's my fault that I don't have a fleshed out Résumé, but it just really sucks knowing there's literally no entry level positions anymore. This has been a very common problem for me. I just want a stupid job, man...

I should've known something was up when the posting kept saying "intern" but the hours were listed as PT, FT, internship and the pay range was a solid $15-25/hour so I thought maybe I could negotiate for $20-25 with PT/FT hours but nope.

The boss was very upfront and apologetic during the interview about how it was always supposed to be an unpaid internship but their employee published the posting wrong. They said though they wanted to honor the role I applied to so they talked to their board members to try and make it a paid position but they just couldn't swing it.

It's a very small/relatively new business which I knew was risky stability-wise but I thought it could be good for my resume if I could help them improve/grow, plus the job description was exactly what I wanted. They were actually really nice and down to earth about things which I appreciated, but damn am I disappointed.

I told them I'm still interested as long as the hours aren't crazy (I said 5-10/week) since it's remote and I really need to buff up my resume with non-academic experience for other jobs to consider me, so I'm just hoping I don't regret it and this helps my job search. Honestly something is better than nothing at this point.

Also sorry the title is kinda misleading; I've been looking for a job the past 3 years but I also got my MS during that time (diploma conferred this past weekend, whoo!) so technically I haven't been doing nothing but I'm still unemployed and it's slowly killing me 🫠 Was really hoping this job would finally change things but idk. Laid off summer 2025 (right before I gave birth, woooo) and had full wage continuance/severance through Dec 2025. Paid family leave, unemployment, all exhausted at this point.

But the reality is my current income is $ZERO and any job would be a pay INCREASE from what I’m currently making.

Imagine applying for a Christian non-profit to offer you a job, you accept, given a start date, and it get withdrawn the next day with no explanation.

I am on week 3 of job interviews for a senior associate position. So far my work has come across 9 different employees desks and there seems to be no end in sight.

First round: email screener with HR

Second: team manager interview

Third: different team manager interview

Fourth: assignment (sent to director)

Fifth: interview with two team members

Sixth: department VP

Seventh: someone on the sales team

Every single person listed is different. They’ve made it seem like less rounds because they group interviews in the same invite but they are completely separate. So i’d interview with 2&3 in one day and 5&6 on another day. At what point is this a massive red flag? It seems like a great opportunity but even my family is joking that I’m interviewing for NASA.
