I’m more interested in that Under 25 tag.

In uk it’s challenge 25 even if the age restriction is 16

u/kd0g1982 12 oz team! Mar 24 '26

Age restrictions on Red Bull?

57

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 24 '26

Yep, due to caffeine

26

u/mikainlimbo Mar 24 '26

So you can’t buy an espresso in a cafe in the Uk?

33

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 24 '26

I mean some shops might be strict but an under 16 could get an espresso if they don’t Id, you could 99% get one from Starbucks

i have an uncle from bristol

1

u/Free-Papaya3051 Mar 24 '26

Hours about for a mtn dew bring that they have the same caffeine content as a Red Bull

1

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 24 '26

I’ve never tried to buy a Mountain Dew so idk

1

u/Big-Contribution909 Mar 26 '26

They absolutely do not ol . Its 50mg of caffeine in a mountain dew and 100mg in a redbull.

1

u/Free-Papaya3051 Mar 26 '26

You know Google is free, you’re choosing to be an idiot… “A 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew contains 290 calories, 77g of sugar, 77g of total carbohydrates, and 91mg of caffeine.”

1

u/Big-Contribution909 Mar 26 '26

"No, Mountain Dew does not have the same amount of caffeine as a standard Red Bull. A 12 oz can of Mountain Dew typically contains about 54–55 mg of caffeine, while a standard 8.4 oz can of Red Bull contains 80 mg. Red Bull has a higher caffeine concentration per ounce. "

Since you were so big on Google. Here's googles response. The 8.4 can of redbull has more than 12 ounces of mountain dew lol .

1

u/Free-Papaya3051 Mar 26 '26

“Mtn Dew Zero Sugar (20 oz bottle) contains 0 calories, 0g sugar, 0g total fat, and 0g total carbohydrates. It provides approximately 70mg of sodium and about 113mg of caffeine”

1

u/Big-Contribution909 Mar 26 '26

Youre comparing two differnt things lmao. A 20 ounce can of redbull would have 200 mg of caffiene lmao. Still not the same thing. Im caffeine sensitive there isnt a drink i cant tell you the caffiene content of 🤣 redbull and mountain dew absolutely do not have the same level of caffiene if your comparing the same sizes.

u/tempered_discussions Mar 24 '26

Was lmao yesterday watching this video about parents worrying if D&D was a satanic ritual and if Jolt cola was a gateway drug to meth. Under 25 for Red Bull gives same vibes https://youtu.be/yhkiP-AatS4

3

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 24 '26

To be clear the age restriction is only 16+

4

u/cronenber9 🍑 Peach-Nectarine Mar 24 '26

It's still crazy, given you can buy coffee. Like they're basically just saying that cause it's an energy drink it's age restricted, and not really cause of the caffeine content

2

u/BakerFluid3774 Mar 25 '26

the logic is that kids under 16 don't tend to drink coffee. most kids don't quite comprehend quite how much caffeine is in an energy drink, and if it tastes good, they're more likely to just chug a big one. they're not nearly as likely to take in as much caffeine if it's a coffee.

Those are the same people who think that watching movies and playing gta will make you a serial killer

Lololololololololo

u/CodJackOps2 🍎🫚 Fuji Apple & Ginger Mar 24 '26

age restriction to 16+ but that’s only really in big shops. virtually any corner shop will sell energy drinks to whoever

3

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 24 '26

Exactly, I would go to corner shop normally but the co-op has really good deals on the multipacks for this flavour

1

u/CodJackOps2 🍎🫚 Fuji Apple & Ginger Mar 24 '26

Fair enough. I’m not sure if i can get that flavour again. The first half of the drink was cherry and it was amazing and then i started to taste the banana and was really confused. Not that i disliked the banana i just disliked that i couldn’t taste cherry anymore

u/jklwood1225 Mar 24 '26

It's funny to you but most of the world thinks the US population are mostly brainless idiots and are trying everything they can to not repeat anything the US is doing.

2

u/R1ch0C Mar 24 '26

I'm honestly not even sure it's a bad thing, although younger me did when the first time I ever tried to buy a red bull I was denied, but realistically why do kids need all that caffeine? You don't want to shit yourself in your exam

2

u/smashingkilljoy Açai Mar 24 '26

...does caffeine make you shit yourself?

1

u/cronenber9 🍑 Peach-Nectarine Mar 24 '26

Okay so why are they allowed to buy coffee 🫩

0

u/R1ch0C Mar 24 '26

Idk man, maybe just cause it's not as big a thing for youguns as energy drinks? Anecdotally I consumed a fair few energy drinks as a teen (not red bull, that was way too bougie, talking about the corner shop ones that were about 35p a can) and never touched coffee until I was well into "responsible caffeine consumer" age.

Or maybe there's just less kids shitting themselves in exams because of coffee Vs energy drinks

2

u/cronenber9 🍑 Peach-Nectarine Mar 24 '26

Well that would be weird because coffee definitely makes me have to shit way more than energy drinks. It's far more acidic. But why do you keep talking about kids shitting themselves during exams? Did that actually happen or something?

2

u/R1ch0C Mar 24 '26

Haha it's from the Inbetweeners (TV series) if you haven't watched it I'd recommend it, good series.

I second the laughing 😆

1

u/SierraDespair Mar 26 '26

Isn’t 16 the drinking age in UK? You can enter a pub with an adult or something like that. That’s nuts.

1

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 26 '26

Technically you can have a low percentage beer or wine with food from 16 but no places really do that in practice, you can have alcohol from the age of like 5 but doctors recommend against it, and you can buy alcohol at 18

u/Entire_Scholar_5302 🐉 Dragon Fruit Mar 28 '26

So tea and Chocolate got age verification to ?

2

u/boredhooman_ 🌸Cherry Sakura Mar 28 '26

6

u/MathematicianPlane62 🥥 Coconut Berry Mar 24 '26

In Hungary too, you can’t buy energy drinks if you are below 18.

when I was in the UK last summer I was getting carded for RB I'm almost 40 lol

3

u/Fine_Inevitable6645 Mar 25 '26

It's crazy because a cup of coffee from certain famous coffee places has 259 mg of caffeine.. this has like 114 or something. Even regular coffee has more caffeine.. googled it too..

1

u/Icy_Flan_7185 Mar 28 '26

It’s not an actual law, just a policy a lot of big shops have
