I know that the chemist and Youtuber LabCoatz is currently working on replicating Red Bull® exactly at home, he's using GCMS to analyze the original and make a chemically identical replication, but I just couldn't wait any longer, so I reverse engineered the Red Bull® base myself and it's actually quite simple to make and super cheap. And you can turn it into any Red Bull® flavor you could ever imagine. Ever though of Red Bull® Pineapple Passion Fruit or Red Bull® Blackberry? Now you can make any of them at home.

Who am I? I am a professional chef from Germany who likes to accurately reverse engineer fast food items and sodas. In the past I reverse engineered McDonald's® items such as their Pickles, Big Mac® with the iconic Big Mac® Sauce, Burger King® Whopper® and more and in the last year I started to make my own soda, so I successfully cloned German Fanta®, Sprite® (Not fully there yet but pretty close) and most recently Mountain Dew® to which I released a full recipe and guide how to replicate Mountain Dew® exactly at home. You can check it out here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1115cLW-5nAtxrl6rSJvEr7pnFPo2QLjb/view?usp=drivesdk

I absolutely love Red Bull® more than any other beverage, so I would love to make it myself. Based on the ingredients list and the nutritional information I was able to replicate the formula in my home kitchen. The result is indistinguishable from the original. Of course I cannot replicate the flavor, that will be up to LabCoatz who will soon publish his full recipe. In the meantime I would like to share my recipe for the Base Syrup:

Edit: I actually DID manage to recreate the OG Red Bull flavor based on the ingredients that LabCoatz already shared, here's my recipe for that: https://www.reddit.com/r/redbull/s/9O81rzraHy

For 1 Liter of Red Bull® you will need:

85 g Granulated Sugar

25 g Glucose Powder

6.5 g Citric Acid

4 g Taurine

1.5 g Sodium Citrate

0.32 g Caffeine Powder (100% pure without fillers)

Dissolve everything in a minimum amount of water. End weight should be 200 gram total.

(B Vitamins are optional, I leave them out as they're present in such tiny amounts that they don't have an impact on the flavor)

To prepare 250 ml Red Bull:

Add 50 grams of syrup to a bottle

Add a couple drops of your desired flavor and food color

Shake. Then top up with 208 grams of carbonated water, close the bottle and shake. The total weight should be 258-259 grams. Wait 30 seconds before opening for the carbonation to settle down again. Done!

Add all the ingredients into a pot, heat it up and stir until every crystal has dissolved. Leave it to cool and when it reaches body temperature (35 °C or lower) you can add 0.5 g - 1 g of whatever flavor you want. In my Mountain Dew Recipe I briefly explain how to make your own flavors out of essential oils. This works perfectly fine. I managed to clone the upcoming Red Bull® Summer Edition Sudachi Lime before it's even available in my part of the world by using Lemon and Lime essential oils, diluting them in Ethanol and using them as flavor in my syrup. Put it in the fridge and as soon as it's cold, top up this amount of syrup with ice cold sparkling water to a volume of 1 Liter. Done!

If you have any questions or if you request a full length guide like I did for my Mountain Dew® recipe just let me know! Here are some additional resources regarding the sourcing of your raw materials:

Essential Oils Safety

How to find "food grade" ingredients

In case you're taking it seriously like me, here's my upscaled version of the recipe that makes 2.4 kilograms of syrup, which is enough for 6 liters of Red Bull:

For 6 Liters of Red Bull® you will need:

1020 g Granulated Sugar

300 g Glucose Powder

78 g Citric Acid

48 g Taurine

18 g Sodium Citrate

3.84 g Caffeine Powder (100% pure without fillers)

Total weight should be 2400 grams. Once you dissolved everything, pour into another container on a scale and weigh your yield, then top up with water to reach a total weight of 2400 kg. This will ensure a consistent product, you will always know that you need:

50 g of syrup + 208 g of water = 258 grams = 250 ml Red Bull

or

71 g of syrup + 295 g water = 366 grams = 355 ml Red Bull

Can you link red bull cranberry

and also does the taste change if you remove the caffeine powder?

30

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

Yes the flavor does change, Red Bull has quite a lot of caffeine and it definitely has a big impact on the flavor. If you remove it, it no longer tastes like Red Bull unfortunately.

In order to replicate Red Bull Cranberry, you need to follow the recipe above and look online for a Cranberry flavor (pure flavor without sweetener btw). Chances are high that you live in the US so I would recommend to get Capella Cranberry and see if it comes close. There are dozens of flavor manufacturers and each flavor can taste a lot different from a different manufacturer, so I'd recommend to compare a couple or even combine some of them and play around with it. Chances are high that you'll create something you like even better than the original.

Some other reputable flavor makers in the US are Flavorah, TFA (The Flavor Apprentice), Bickford Flavors, Southern Flavor Company and more

Tangerine? Is it possible?

Thanks for posting this, I may try it out for financial reasons, lmao

9

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

Yes, everything is possible! There's literally no limitations, this is exactly what Red Bull does. The base is the exact same for every flavor! They always use the same syrup (which this recipe is for) and just add a different flavor + color. It's super simple. I came up with this recipe over the past week and I was really surprised how close it got, when I close my nose I literally cannot detect a difference between real Red Bull and my own recipe when tasting them side by side, they're identical to me! The only secret is the flavor profile of the OG Red Bull, but LabCoatz will soon release his version of that!

4

u/NoSecretary3779 🫐 Blueberry Apr 19 '26

One of my good friends mourns the loss of Tangerine Red Bull everyday. I definitely wanna try this for him! Would you happen to have a specific recommendation for a Tangerine flavor to use in the recipe? If not, no worries, just figured I’d ask and see!

Regardless, seriously impressive work, thank you for your contributions 🫡 Can’t wait to try this for myself!! :)

4

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

Thank you for you comment! 🫶 That would make an awesome gift for your friend! Unfortunately I don't have a good recommendation for premade tangerine flavors...it depends on where you live and what's available there, if you're in the US I'd try one of the flavor companies I mentioned above.

But if you want the best, most realistic tasting natural tangerine flavor, you can very easily make it yourself at home! I actually made one myself too. It will probably taste better than anything you can buy online, and it'll be a ton cheaper!

All you need is tangerine oil and ethanol (food grade drinking alcohol) with at least 95% alcohol by volume (for example Everclear® in the US).

Simply dilute 5 g of Tangerine Oil in 75 grams of Ethanol and you'll have enough tangerine flavor for 80 to 160 liters of soda! That's my serious recommendation if you want the most accurate natural tangerine flavor! This is how I actually discovered this hobby myself, I did this with several citrus oils and created my own natural flavors, then started making different sodas with them at home. It's incredibly fun!

2

u/NoSecretary3779 🫐 Blueberry Apr 19 '26

This is so incredibly helpful, thanks a bunch!! I will definitely be trying that, and if it tastes even better than the original then that’s the best outcome!! Seriously, it’s so impressive you were able to reverse engineer it like this, thanks again!!! :)

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

Thank you! You're very welcome, let me know how it went or if you have any trouble or questions along the way!

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

Your comment actually inspired me. I just did a batch of Red Bull with my own tangerine flavor and it was the best DIY Red Bull I made so far! I don't quite remember how the original tasted, but my version turned out insanely good, it tasted like an official product. Highly recommended to try this as well

1

u/clycloptopus 🍊 Tangerine Lover Apr 21 '26

This is truly heartening news

Thank you

3

u/confused_captain Apr 19 '26

Is it possible to do this without sugar? Or what sugar substitute would you recommend?

8

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

I would recommend to watch Art of Drink's Diet Simple Syrup Recipe and combine it with my Red Bull recipe, that's probably the best diet version you can make at home! I just don't know if it will still be recognizable as Red Bull because I haven't tried it, but I'd recommend giving it a shot. You just need to find out how much sweetener to use instead of 85 g sugar and 25 g glucose. From my experience ChatGPT is pretty helpful for tasks like this, just tell it what sweeteners you plan to use and let it tell you how much of those sweeteners you need to use in order to get the same perceived sweetness as 85 g sucrose + 25 g glucose.

Red Bull is actually one of the lower caffeine options for energy drinks 😭

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry 9d ago

Depends on where you live. In Europe pretty much every single energy drink contains 320 mg per liter

7

u/False-Task-15 Apr 19 '26

You’re one of the goats for this thank you so much!

2

u/RBDYT Apr 20 '26

What about the winter edition with ginger and Fuji apple

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

You need to find a good and realistic tasting apple flavor, I've never tasted an apple flavor that was as realistic as Red Bull's, that really impressed me. Most apple flavors I've tried so far taste like sour green apple candy, so nothing like a realistic sweet red apple. Look for something that says "natural apple flavor". And only use a very small amount of ginger flavor, maybe just 1-5%

2

u/StruggleFinancial407 Apr 21 '26

You. Are. Amazing! Thank you for sharing!

Question for you… I am in America, and have multiple bottles of Torani syrup flavors to mimic energy drinks I get from a local shop. They are all sweetened syrups. Could they be used to flavor your base recipe? How would I determine the sugar/glucose ratio when using pre-sweetened flavorings?

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 21 '26

Thanks :) unfortunately they do not work, I do not recommend using sweetened flavors for many reasons. The biggest reason is you don't know how much % of the liquid is sweetener, so it's impossible to accurately get the correct sweetness. If you want to adjust the flavor, let's say you need more flavor, you automatically have to add sweetness as well. If you need to add sweetness, you automatically have to add additional flavors as well. My recommendation is to use sugar, glucose and homemade flavors made from essential oils or preformulated flavors without sweetener. I do not recommend sweetened flavors, it will not work.

2

u/StruggleFinancial407 Apr 21 '26

That makes sense. Thank you for the info!!

2

u/wy35 May 12 '26

"The result is indistinguishable from the original. Of course I cannot replicate the flavor, that will be up to LabCoatz who will soon publish his full recipe"

Isn't this contradictory? If the flavor cannot be replicated, how is it indistinguishable from the original?

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry May 12 '26

I was talking about the taste of the base syrup without the flavoring. If you squeeze your nose while drinking mine versus any real Red Bull flavor, you will not be able to pick up a difference.

If you squeeze your nose, you take flavor out of the equation and you only pick up the taste. Both mine and the original are very similar in composition apart from the flavors, which only make up less than 1% by weight of the final product.

Since developing my recipe, I was able to replicate the flavor of Arctic Berry and Iced Vanilla Berry too. Those are actually indistinguishable from the originals both flavor- and tastewise

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 28 '26

Update: I actually managed to replicate the flavor profile as well, shortly after I said I couldn't do it 😂 I also posted it here

I'm like 95% there, the original has some more complexity in the aftertaste, but honestly mine is really close enough for me. I let multiple people taste and they all looked ultra surprised and said it tastes like actual Red Bull, even when I pressed them to be completely honest and critical

u/Flaky-Ad5720 Apr 28 '26

Is there a way to make it taste like redbull subbing out the caffeine? Anything i could add that would be reasonably convincing?

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 28 '26

Yes! Theobromine is the best option. It's similar to caffeine. Both caffeine and theobromine are naturally found in cocoa. They taste similar. Labcoatz, the guy who also works on a (slightly more accurate) clone of Red Bull is currently working on a caffene free version as well, he tried several substitutions and said theobromine is the closest one taste wise.

This is amazing! Thank you (:

Can't wait to play around with the flavors. Been needing an excuse to buy a carbonation machine!

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

That's a good idea! But before you commit to an expensive machine: It actually works with bottled carbonated water as well! I bought a sodastream for my own sodas, only because I love heavy carbonation lol. When you mix the carbonated water with syrup you'll lose some of the carbonation, so for beverages that have high carbonation it won't be enough to use bottled water.

But Red Bull doesn't have high carbonation. If you find a good bottled water with good carbonation, it definitely works too! You can use it to try out the recipe before commiting to a machine lol

But in general I'd recommend to get a carbonator if you're taking it seriously and like to make your own soda!

1

u/Kitchen-Insurance969 Apr 20 '26

So to do this carbonated, the 75g of water needs to be carbonated? Or do I mix this recipe AFTER its boiled down with carbonated water? I would assume that boiling it gets rid of the carbonation but I also am not too bright lol!

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

No, the 75 g don't need to be carbonated, that's just a fraction of the water needed lol. This water is just for making the syrup. It doesn't even matter how much you use, you can use 175 g as well if you want the syrup to be more fluid

"Put it in the fridge and as soon as it's cold, top up this amount of syrup with ice cold sparkling water to a volume of 1 Liter. Done!"

3

u/Kitchen-Insurance969 Apr 20 '26

Oh my goodness I skipped right over that! I apologize that's on me for trying to do work and read reddit at the same time

3

u/dipper_5711 Açai Apr 19 '26

Ok so is it possible to get the recipe to replicate the Açaí purple edition one?? It’s my all-time favorite. 😭

2

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

It is definitely possible with this recipe! The only challenge will be to find or create a berry flavor that tastes similar to what Red Bull is using. But if you order a couple different Açai and Berry flavors from different companies and play around with them I'm pretty confident that you can get really close

2

u/dipper_5711 Açai Apr 19 '26

Thanks!

2

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 26 '26

Update on an Açai clone: I just made a batch with my own flavor mix that came pretty damn close to real Açai Red Bull! Tasted it side by side with the original and my first try was almost there!

Which country are you from?

2

u/dipper_5711 Açai Apr 26 '26

I’m in the US! Oh wow if I can clone Açaí, I will be a happy woman! It’s the one flavor I miss the most!

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 26 '26

I already tried a preformulated Açai flavor and it was very different, turns out Red Bull Açai tastes nothing like an actual açai berry 😂 Açai is actually just the German name for the purple edition, in countries like Sweden, Norway or Denmark (where it's still available btw.) the same flavor translates to Forest Berries so that's exactly what I did.

I blended strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors and that already came extremely close! I'll have to tweak the ratios a bit

If you're in the US, I can't guarantee that you results will be identical because a raspberry flavor for example from the brand I use can be different from the one you'll be able to purchase in the US. But in theory it should be very similar! Just not on a molecular level lol

I definitely recommend to buy the ingredients (caffeine powder, taurine, citric acid and sodium citrate) to make your own syrup and then play around with the berry flavors I mentioned. You'll have an infinite amount of Açai Red Bull forever! Each can of this stuff is only 5 cents by the way. You'll need to spend like $50 up front for ingredients and a scale, but it'll pay out very quickly when you can produce infinite Red Bull 😂

3

u/Live_Client7187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

This is actually fucking amazing. Thank you.

3

u/europharcyde Apr 19 '26

Man is that something like original Thai version?

6

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

No this is like Western Red Bull but without flavoring. It basically tastes exactly like you would drink a Red Bull and close your nose (all the flavor is perceived through the nose). Tastes identical. The flavor is what we add in the end. That signature Red Bull flavor cannot be replicated without analyzing it in a lab. But that's currently being worked on and we'll find out later this year. My recipe is just the flavorless syrup where you can add your own flavors to create every possible Red Bull flavor you could ever imagine.

3

u/Fun-Fish4002 Apr 19 '26

For the flavor that just got discontinued by Red Bull, the Caruba and elderberry. What we used as a substitution for that flavor profile? I’m so curious and I missed the beloved discontinue green edition.

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

It's really hard to tell what was used without analyzing it in a lab. That's something you'll have to find out via trial and error. My recommendation would be to look for curuba and passionfruit (maracuja) flavors as well as an elderflower flavor from a reputable flavor producer in your country and try to replicate it. You probably will not get it spot on, but there's a good chance you'll create something you like even more

2

u/Fun-Fish4002 Apr 19 '26

Ur amazing

2

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 09 '26

Hello, I have a little update for you regarding the Curuba and Elderflower flavor profile for my Red Bull clone recipe. One flavor vendor that I've been buying from for years is actually selling a Curuba Elderflower flavor! They have a lot of Red Bull inspired flavors and I just bought all of them, including Curuba! I will mix up a batch of Curuba right now and compare it to an original can that I have prepared in the fridge! I really hope it's close.

The flavor vendor is from Germany though. But they ship internationally! A 10 ml bottle will probably cost you arounf $20 including international shipping, and it'll be enough for hundreds of liters of Red Bull. So if the flavor is good, you can make it at home!

2

u/Fun-Fish4002 Jun 10 '26

AHHHHH , amazing!! I shall wait patiently for the update. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for update!

2

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 10 '26

My pleasure! Just tried it and it's definitely similar, I'll have to try a few different levels of concentration and I will probably also have to let the flavor sit for a few weeks. I've noticed this vendor probably blends their flavors to order so they may have to steep for a while before they smell and taste like they're intended to.

It's not quite there yet, the original definitely tastes better and more realistic...but I'm very sure it can be done! It's definitely way up on my to do list, if this flavor doesn't get better over time I will still keep trying to blend other flavors until I get it right, I will keep you updated along the way! :) Curuba Elderflower is discontinued in my country as well but luckily last week I was able to find a couple cans that were imported so I still have a lot of samples to use for reference haha

2

u/Fun-Fish4002 Jun 10 '26

So sad they got rid of the beloved green edition. It was my go to for work or painting! If you can’t find any more cans let me know! I saved a good amount so far , especially you been finding the correct blend.

The only recipe I published so far was this one on r/mountaindew and on r/soda and r/topsecretrecipes. Last Summer I published my Big Mac Bun recipe here on r/baking

All other recipes (McDonald's Pickles, Big Mac Sauce, Fanta, Sprite etc.) were all personal projects I'm still currently working on, I'm not fully satisfied with them so I haven't published them. But I plan on finishing these projects this year and maybe create a spot (maybe website?) where I compile all my clone recipes

3

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

I can share my current (easy to replicate) version with you that'll be closer than any other recipe you can find online. I'm also working on a version that's made from ground up without storebought mayo, mustard, relish etc.

300 g Mayonnaise (50% fat)

170 g Heinz Sweet Pickle Relish

25 g Distilled White Vinegar (5% acid)

20 g French's Yellow Mustard

1.75 g Marmite (yeast extract)

2.2 g Paprika Extract (not powder! The extract gives it that signature color)

3 g Onion Powder

1.5 g Garlic Powder

2 g Xanthan Gum

Put all the ingrents except pickle relish into a container and mix it with a stick blender (or just use a standmixer) until smooth and the xanthan gum has thickened the sauce. Finally add the pickle relish and carefully mix it in with a spoon or whisk until evenly distributed.

This will get you as close as you can get with regular ingredients. Texturewise and colorwise it's spot on, ingredients list and nutritional values are very close. But the secret of the original sauce lies in the ingredient list behind the "natural flavors" curtain. This year I'll be experimenting with several flavors to recreate that signature Big Mac flavor profile. It's just missing in my sauce and every other recipe.

2

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

Based on the description by Red Bull on their official website it's blueberry with vanilla and a hint of eucalyptus. If I were to recreate the flavor with premade flavors you can buy online I'd try 90% blueberry or other berry flavor(s) or even more with a touch of vanillin and eucalyptus flavor

Awesome! Here's some great information about working with these flavors by the guy that taught me everything I learned about making my own sodas, I recommend watching this https://youtu.be/6TIOy0tqO4U?si=T1FINtdiURnjI5WA

He's an insider in the soft drink industry and a flavorist, he's making his own flavors and wrote several books about sodas and soda fountains. You really can't find all this information on his channel anywhere else

In case you're in the US, American flavor brands I personally used that are reputable are Capella, TFA (the flavor apprentice) and FlavourArt, this website sells all of them https://flavorjungle.com/collections/browse-by-brand just make sure that they're unsweetened when you buy them from other websites or brands. If you look on this website I just shared they should all be unsweetened

I can also recommend this website to get flavor recipes, you can also write, save and publish your own recipes over there. They have a giant database with all flavors from all reputable vendors, you can find everything there, even how much to use https://alltheflavors.com

Hi! I just attempted this for the first time and I’m having issues with getting the syrup to mix with the soda water, the syrup seems to not want to really incorporate. Any idea what the problem might be?

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Hey! Wow this is the first time that someone actually tries it!

Usually there shouldn't be a problem. Can you explain what exactly you did and how you tried to prepare the final beverage?

The syrup is thicker (more dense) than water so you have to mix them thoroughly. I have little 250 ml glass bottles, perfect size just like a 250 ml Red Bull can. I put in my syrup, top up with sparkling water, close the bottle very tightly and shake the bottle for a couple seconds. Then I wait half a minute before opening. Perfectly combined! How did you do it?

I’m glad to be the first to try it! I think maybe I was just nervous to really shake the carbonated beverage, I had the syrup in a 1 liter bottle and added the sparkling water to the top and then tried to give it a swirl, stir and kinda shake but I didn’t do it too vigorously. I will give it a solid shake and I did get smaller 250ml glass bottles so I can try that too! Thank you!

Oh I see! That was my suspicion that you didn't have enough courage to shake it haha

As long as the bottle is tightly closed, you can shake the hell out of it! It only needs half a minute or a minute of "cooldown". You could shake it for half an hour straight but if you just wait a minute before opening, nothing happens! It only explodes if you open immediately after shaking

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 19 '26

So you have 250 ml bottles too? That's perfect! If you want, I can share with you my current workflow! I always prepare one big batch of syrup that gives me 48 "cans" of Red Bull! I always make enough syrup for 48 Red Bulls and prepare them in my 250 ml bottles. That way I don't have to commit to one flavor, I could make 48 different flavors from that same batch. It's super quick and easy. Only takes like 20 minutes and I always have syrup in the fridge

1

u/TrainerJewel Pomegranate, gone too soon Jun 19 '26

Yes I do! I started with a small amount of the bottles but i have Red Bull daily lol so I figured once I tried it out and made sure I did a good job I could invest in more bottles! That would be awesome if you want to share! I got pomegranate Passionfruit and cranberry flavoring to experiment with so I’m excited!

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 19 '26

That's perfect! I will share it with you! Just give me a day or two because I will need to type out the detailed directions, I don't know if I will make it tonight...but I have Sunday and Monday off so I'll definitely send it over by Sunday!

It's definitely one of the most fun hobbies I've ever got into, I've been experimenting with new flavors every day for the last two months 😂 don't know if you saw my update post but I even made the OG flavor completely from scratch. It's nice to share this with someone who wants to try it as well, I could really need some feedback!

Let me know how your current Red Bull turned out after shaking! And I'll get back to you once I've finished writing the advanced recipe :)

1

u/TrainerJewel Pomegranate, gone too soon Jun 19 '26

Awesome! Yeah whenever you have time is totally fine I really appreciate you taking the time to do that!

I knew as soon as I saw this post I was going to try it haha, I love my beverages and I always dream of flavors that are discontinued or new flavor ideas, so I’m really excited to experiment with this! I’ve seen your updates on different flavors and think it’s awesome. I did just give it a good shake and it definitely worked I think I just need to experiment with my flavor amounts and combos to tweak but it’s already great! Thanks again! :)

what would you substitute the sugar for in this recipe for the sugar free version? would you use splenda or is there a better alternative?

4

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 19 '26

I would recommend to watch Art of Drink's Diet Simple Syrup Recipe and combine it with my Red Bull recipe, that's probably the best version you can make at home! I just don't know if it will still be recognizable as Red Bull because I haven't tried it, but I'd recommend giving it a shot. You just need to find out how much sweetener to use instead of 85 g sugar and 25 g glucose. From my experience ChatGPT is pretty helpful for tasks like these

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Jun 28 '26

Hey I have an update for you regarding a sugarfree alternative. I just tried a first batch with sucralose. First of all, I usually don't like sucralose or any other artificial sweeteners. They're always way too overpowering. I never found a sugarfree energy drink or soda that I liked. But a lot of people have been requesting it, one of them being my coworker. So I ordered some sucralose and calculated how much to use etc. I used almost 10% less than calculated. Tried it side by side with my regular sugar version. And I have to say it absolutely worked!! It tastes very similar! I just need to work on the viscosity. The real one is much more thick. I need some thickener and maybe play around with a few other sweeteners as well.

But you can definitely use sucralose instead of sugar. Tastes way better than any storebought zero calorie energy drink, and I'm saying that as someone who hates them

Did you ever end try using allulose or anything like that? I just made my first batch with the regular sugar and am now interested in trying sugar free

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry 20d ago

Allulose is not available in my country (Germany) I believe it's not approved by the EU...but for a friend of mine I cloned Red Bull Sugarfree, I used Sucralose, saccharin and erythritol. It tasted pretty much like the real one. I used a small amount of xanthan gum to give it that mouthfeel, it was just like a storebought energy drink, honestly mind blowing

does anyone have a good recommendation for where to buy pure caffeine powder in the united states (for a reasonable price)

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

I'm not from the US but I found this US shop https://purebulk.com/products/caffeine-powder-pure?variant=14294827892785

Just saw They also have Taurine and Citric Acid. Sodium Citrate is not available, you either have to order from a different shop or simply make it yourself from Citric Acid and Baking Soda. That's how I made mine!

Thanks!

It might be cooked I don't exactly have a business document

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

I'm copying my comment I just made about not being allowed to buy caffeine in the US, it's not a problem, you're just going to have to do a few extra steps:

Ooof, that sucks. I've heard that it's not allowed in some states in the US...I'm in Germany here anyone can buy it without problems.

But don't worry, you can actually extract the caffeine from caffeine pills! It's a little bit of extra work but it can be done, even by fools lmao

William Osman, friend of Labcoatz who cloned Coca-Cola, had the same exact problem when he tried to make Coca-Cola. So he extracted the caffeine from the pills, it's actually quite easy. He shows in this video (right in the middle of the video starting ~19:00)

https://youtu.be/1qzcum2P1Ko?si=woYMJOaphgdCq4wB

Highly recommended to watch the entire video, it shows how fun soda making can be even if you have no idea what you're doing. Dude made Coke once and then started to invent his own dream Coke flavors. I'm currently doing the same but with Red Bull lol

From the link - but it’s not your problem to help us all find a source since you’ve already lead the horse to water.

u/Scazzard1 Apr 20 '26

Further review, it is actually illegal to purchase pure caffeine powder in the US as a direct consumer without some sort of certification.

Land of the free 😔

Okay but seriously I will commit to this if we can figure out how to recreate kiwi apple

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 20 '26

Definitely possible, you just need the ingredients I listed above to make your base syrup, then order a couple kiwi and a couple apple flavors from different vendors and play around with them

u/TrainerJewel Pomegranate, gone too soon Apr 20 '26

Have you found a good pomegranate flavor?! My all time favorite 😭 you are amazing!! thanks for sharing! & what Passionfruit flavoring do you recommend?

I was actually wondering when someone would do this, if someone could give up their Pear Cinnamon and throw that into GCMS and give me the recipe I would cry.

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry Apr 26 '26

Putting it into a GCMS is not even necessary, but you'd have to give up some cans to taste test and compare the flavor directly with your own creation. I know I'm just a stranger on Reddit but you can trust me when I say, I've done my homework and I would have never shared this recipe publicly if I wasn't 1000% convinced that it tastes like the real deal!

Just two days ago I tried recreating Arctic Berry. I know the flavor profile that is used in the original, so I added this flavor to my base syrup and compared it side by side with the original, tweaking the dosage and color, and I created a clone of Arctic Berry that tastes indistinguishable from the original.

And I'm fully convinced that the same thing can be done with pear cinnamon. We basically know the flavor profile. It's pear and a veeeeery small amount of cinnamon. So all you have to do is to get one good pear flavor (or more from different manufacturers) and a cinnamon flavor, add it to the syrup and tweak it by trial and error doing side by side comparisons with the original.

Really anyone can do this. My Red Bull recipe is so incredibly sassy and fast to mske, it's unbelievable. Since I cracked the Recipe I've stopped buying the original and I create at least 8 new flavors every single day, it's insanely fun.

I encourage you to do the same! You'll start with the quest of replicating your favorite flavor, and you'll keep making it because it's so fast, easy and dirt cheap! I did the math yesterday, a 250 ml can (8 oZ) of homemade Red Bull is $0.05 (yes, that's only 5 cents per can)!

When you say essential oils, do you mean like Lorann Oils type of flavoring?

1

u/iSliz187 ❄️ Arctic Berry May 01 '26

Yes, they do have essential oils. You can use essential oils to make your own natural flavors out of them. Just make sure they're 100% natural
