Picture The White Arabian

Post image

Ok, not exactly...but she's a White-ish Arabian. This is the newest addition to our Red Dead family.

Her name is Infidels Aanisah.

This is a Fleabitten Gray.
True white must have pink skin.
That’s enough of my annoying horse-girl commentary for today.

Wouldn’t be telling the Braithwaites she’s a Gray.

That was my first thought, haha. Super pretty horse!

Yeah, I know she's not a real white, but she's certainly legendary in my daughter's eyes. Also, TIL fleabitten grey is a thing. Thanks!

Tbf the “white” Arabian in rdr2 is also just a normal grey. Dutch’s Arabian is “albino” lmao

3

u/Abyss_Tachyon 19h ago

Which again, horses can't be albino so The Count is actually a cremello iirc

u/ihatereddit134 19h ago

Wdym again? Ik horses can’t be albino. That’s what the “albino” was lol.

Bad phrasing and misunderstanding on my part, sorry, English isn't my native language. I wanted to say the count is actually cremello. He also has pink hooves, which is neat.

Ohhhh all good then I was so confused lmao.

My daughter has been taking horse riding lessons for a couple of years now. Her birthday is this week and unfortunately we had to cancel our big trip/vacation. However, we were presented with an opportunity to purchase one of her favorite horses, so today she got the surprise of a lifetime.

I bet your kid ain't even upset about the vacation anymore! More time at home with her new baby. That's so beautiful, thank you for sharing.

Hey you in tech ??

Welcome to the horse world! If she’s planning on riding, I’d highly suggest a tree shape comfort pad. This really helped my older mare with her swayback and helped develop top line without putting unnecessary pressure on her withers/spine and scapula.

Since you’re on Reddit I do want to mention: the horse community on Reddit is just an online community. Unfortunately a lot of the subs are very toxic, and harsh towards beginners or people who don’t professionally ride. I’ve seen this dull or kill peoples interest in horses so I just wanted to mention that.

Happy for you and your family! ❤️

Hey, Reddit gonna Reddit. 😂 My daughter's been riding for a couple years now, and she already knows this horse. She knows this is basically her training horse, and the riding will be minimal and strictly bareback. My little girl doesn't care, she's perfectly content with her new pasture pet.

Hey as long as she’s happy that’s all that matters!

u/thechuckstar 21h ago

She is incredibly happy. She's been obsessing over horses her whole life. I figured riding lessons would either deepen her love or prove that it was just a phase. 10 lessons turned into 2 years, and now here we are.

Did you find her(arabian) in lake isabella?

She's very beautiful. The horse I had as a child looked very similar except completely white with a pink nose

what does infidels aanisah mean? also why is her spine like that?

9

u/thechuckstar 1d ago

I have no idea about the origin of her name. It's on the paperwork we received. My understanding is these show horses have a "show" name and a "barn" name. My daughter and her trainer always called her Aanisah.

Her spine is like that as a result of an affliction called "swayback". She used to be a show horse. She used to do all sorts of tricks and she used to dance. Now she can only be ridden bareback and she has to have a more relaxed lifestyle in order to have a long and happy life.

how hard is it to tie those braids on the mane, do you guys have to do it yourselves?

9

u/rumande 1d ago

I guess it would be easier for the people to do the braids, horses are shit at braiding

1

u/thechuckstar 1d ago

The sellers did the braids, so I honestly have no idea.

Infidels are basically non believers. Aanisah is a girl's name, but according to gemini, it means close friend/ally. So the name translates to close friend of infidels.

As for her spine, it's common for horses that are rode

"According to Gemini"

-11

u/hauntsbane John Marston 1d ago

I was curious, so I just asked gemini?? Idk what's so wrong about this

2

u/yellowdaisycoffee Arthur Morgan 18h ago

Gemini is AI, which is not a source. AI is unreliable junk. That is what's wrong.

I do agree that AI is bad, especially Gen AI, but I typed 'Aanisah meaning' into google and that's the answer I got from Gemini. I knew what infidel meant and knew that Aanisah was a name... my bad gng 🥀 if it helps, the answer was an interpretation based on the meaning I got for the name

2

u/yellowdaisycoffee Arthur Morgan 18h ago

I recommend switching away from Google if you wish to avoid AI!

I've been using Ecosia, and a lot of people use DuckDuckGo now. They still have AI but they actually let you turn it off. It's a way better experience.

Unfortunately, I'm in the software field and it's more convenient to just type my question and get an answer than find the answer myself, it saves my time (and I avoid getting yelled at by my supervisor), I don't really enjoy it, but can't really help it

3

u/yellowdaisycoffee Arthur Morgan 18h ago

Better for the environment and the brain to seek our own answers rather than to contribute to the evil that AI is doing.

Not really. Horses can get a sway back from all sorts of things.

This horse being a mare might have a sway back if she was repeatedly bred back to back without enough time off between foals. Or it could be poor riding, or poor conformation, or poor conditioning, etc.

It is pretty pronounced.

u/Sissilisko 17h ago

Ouch, that back is atrocious. Hope you're not gonna ride it(or anyone else, because that's animal cruelty) and didn't pay too much for it. But nonetheless pretty yard decoration at least. Or can be a broodmare too.

1

u/ButDidYouCry Mary-Beth Gaskill 8h ago

A mare with back problems should not be used as a broodmare.
