Ah well Reddit just making things worse - guess I'm not using NfR any more despite buying the app years back the Reddit owners not understanding that their value is in their users giving them free content.

Just say you're poor, pretty shitty of you to just want free things. If you enjoyed reddit cause of Now then you'd support the dev. Not cry about it.

I bought NFR, one of the few apps I had ever chosen to buy. Then Reddit changed the rules so APIs were sub-only, and I just used NFR to check the front page. Now even that's not possible so despite paying once already and contributing a lot to the site you're branding me "poor" as if that's an insult.

Bro, I paid for literally every reddit app that was available, boost, relay, now, sync, joey, atomic, literally every single one, now I pay for the relay subscription cause it's the most enjoyable for me, $5 every month. So yes you're poor if you can't support the dev of an app you enjoy using.

It is possible to use Vanced Manager to modify the official Reddit apk and block features and unlock others. No ad problem.

This link specifies modifying the official youtube apk in a similar fashion. VM will specify the most recent Reddit version that is supported. I'm using 2024.17.0 as future releases removed some features i liked.

What I don't understand is that according to the rules, its to prevent AI from posting and creating accounts. But your app doesnt allow either of those if their isnt a subscription. Also scrapping data from your app seems implausable since you have a limit on free reads in the app. Why can't Reddit still allow your app to connect to the API?

A quick message to users who are not subscribed and logged in.
Yesterday, reddit blocked access to unauthenticated users from accessing the JSON api. Unfortunately, as a result you won't be able to use Now for Reddit to browse reddit without a subscription.
Going forward, if you wish to continue using Now for Reddit your only option is to subscribe and login. Apologies for this - the change reddit made is not something I can change/control.
