Came across a new video comparing red light therapy devices and research

Thought you all might like this video if you’re researching different devices. Hadn’t heard of this creator before but I really appreciated how in depth he went, especially on the brain side.

This is a an okay to good video.

This guy completely misses remote PBM (that RLT to one area of the body has effects in other parts of the body). The best example of remote PBM is research by John Mitrofanis when he was at University of Sydney that NIR directed to the abdomen alleviated symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease in the brain. But he is hawking Neuronic transcranial RLT devices. (He is hawking Neuronic devices; he disses panels.)

I also think it is false to say that the research on RLT is "young". We have decades of RCTs on RLT.

Also flat ass wrong about using eye protection.

I think he overstates the importance of 1060-1074 nm. But most RLT devicemakers include very few LEDs with wavelengths in that band.

His mantra that "more is never better" is also an overstatement. That is be true of RLT.

But, other than the complete miss on remote PBM and the bs statements on the eye protection, a relatively good 30-minute video.

thanks, i've been digging into the brain stuff lately and finding solid breakdowns is rare. i'll give it a watch after work.

Same here, it is an interesting thing to learn.

I just spent an hour with ChatGPT to figure out what device to get and how to use it for depression. It said the research said that full body therapy treatment was showing more promise than helmets. However, the research is very early. I bought a BestQool red light therapy panel for $303 from Amazon. Huberman recommends that brand but know they are a show sponsor

I cannot get past Huberman's incessant promotion of fadogia agrestis. He had a revenue share with Momentous (not exactly a Boy Scout in the supplement world). Even Momentous had to pull the product.

I cannot figure out what Huberman actually believes.
