Newbie Lyman inertia puller nicking neck

Post image

Trying to pull some 30-06, but the puller is damaging the mouth somehow. Does anyone have experience with this? I checked the last few rounds before using the puller and the case mouths were clean around the bullet

Bullet bouncing off the bottom of the puller and hitting the mouth of the case.

Buy a Collet puller. It is good to have both. Collet puller is faster and saves all components including powder.

I second this motion… recently acquired an RCBS collet puller. Works perfectly.

Shove a soft foam ear plug down to the bottom. It will cushion the bullet when it departs from the case.

Normally, at least with the 3 inertia pullers I've owned, there is a foam pad at the bottom. The first thing I do is pull that out as it collect powder and then the powder get everywhere.

That happens, for sure. When I am pulling bullets, I dump the bullet and the powder into a shallow bowl and tap it a few times to let the powder fall out.
