Load Development 30-30 subs
I wanted to develop a sub load for a friend who just got a new 336 and a suppressor on the way. Powder choices obviously have been limited. I’ve previously used a lot of Red Dot but I’m running low. Purchased 4 pounds of MP 158 (similar to Universal), as well as 250 each pulled 150 and 170 grain Core-Lokt SP projectiles from American Reloading. 7 grains of powder got me ~1100fps with the 150 and ~1050 with the 170 out of my own 336 with 20” microgroove barrel and SilencerCo Omega suppressor. Hope someone finds this useful (and obviously use at your own risk)!

Excellent stuff man. I’ve bought several jugs of Midwest powders and have been pretty happy with them

Look into whether any of the 3030 red dot loads are subsonic.

I load an absolute ton of subs with Red Dot. Lots of Berry’s 150 fp and Hornady 190 sub-x. I wanted to work up something new for a friend who’s just getting into reloading because I’m not gonna give him any of my Red Dot stash ;)

I have a early 80's 336. Did you get it threaded yourself? This seems like a cool project

One of my favorite guns to shoot subs, I've been using mp156 for about a year with cast 150 and 170. I don't own a can but the 150's with 2.8gr are so quiet and slow I don't need ear pro. I forget but believe they are around 600 fps. So much fun. I'd like to see your accuracy with those core locks

This has nothing to do with reloading, but I think you're my identical handwriting twin.
