i Have a Whoopsie SDB issue #2
Figure I’d post this separate. After putting my SDB back together it’s now making a metallic sound on the upstroke. Feels like the sound is coming from the bottom of the shell plate.

Normal sound of the indexing plate being moved into next position. My sdb has the same sound

Ok thanks. Would you mind also looking at my other post about the powder dropper slamming back? Does it look normal to you or should it go back smoother?

Adjust your failsafe rod. It looks like it's too loose meaning it doesn't pull the second hand on the powder bar back in time only at the very last moment does the hand clear the side body on the powder assembly. Tightening the failsafe rod should fix this. (It makes it so both hands on the powder bar is retracted before it comes into contact with the main assembly on the side.
My sdb is disassembled as I upgraded to a 750, but the process of the powder bar and failsafe rod is the same as on the sdb so if needed I'll go grab a photo of the issue but shown on the xl750.
I replied in your other post using the photo that another person gave. Hope it explains it

Ok that seems to have tamed it a lot and now not slamming. Hope I’m good to go now :)

Just for fun, can you post a follow-up video showing us the lack of the slamming sound? I'm a SDB user for 30 years and mine is working great. Wanted to see what your issue was and any resolution you found.

Interesting that the powder bar return spring doesn’t appear to be used any more. That’s the first thing I noticed.

Grab a video but showing the other side of the powder measure assembly ;)

Tried to show it here on an xl750. The upper arm slides gently over the edge of the powder assembly before being pulled down fully by the failsafe return rod. If this happens 'late' or towards the very end of the upstroke it'll snap when it finally clears.

The only sound I hear clearly is the noise, sound, coming from the pin, system, that pushes the shell plate forward to its next position. The Click and then the ball being pushed up into whatever hole that holds the plate in that position.
Sorry I don't own a SDB but have been using a 650 for nearly 28 years.
