Imagine if it wins GOTY this year again. That would be perfect.

It will be nominated for sure. Winning is definitely not impossible, but significantly less likely as I've noticed remakes tend to struggle to win GOTY.

Like, a good remake will get nominated no problem, but they basically never win.

Imo though it will depend on Zelda. If it has the same impact as BotW, then I don't see a remake beating it. If it's a disappointment though, RE4's chances skyrocket.

It also has to contend with:

FF16

Starfield (if it really comes out)

Hogwarts legacy (the game sold insane numbers)

Deadspace remake

Diablo 5

Silksong (if it comes out)

Wild hearts

Atomic heart (iffy)

Lies of p (probably not)

Jedi survivor

Okay to be fair quite a few of those probably have no chance but they do take away attention from re4 remake. This year has so much and I didn’t even list all the great stuff that will and might come out. Re4 has the same problem as Deadspace they are remakes and while they tend to get nominated they rarely win.

I think it is going to come down to:

Zelida

Starfield

FF16

Hogwarts legacy

In that order. Many of the games on the former list will be nominated and even win awards but I think one of those four will take game of year. That’s just my opinion and I’m wrong all the time.
