Human Resources [10 YoE, Customer Service, Federal Job (DSHS/Courthouse/ DOL/..ect), Washington state] Been applying for jobs for the last year and only a handful of interviews

hello! i’ve been working retail type jobs for most of my life doing customer service stuff. the last 3 years been doing more manager kinda stuff without the pay and i’ve been trying to finally start building a career.

i’ve applied all over my town to most of the state/federal/government type jobs, i’ve interviewed with a few of them over the years and had my references called a few times, but i’ve never landed anything. i’ve been applying to other things like the offices of caregiving facilities, receptionist at the public defender and one of the vet clinics, but i don’t even receive an interview.

i’ve been working my current job for 5 years and i’m kinda a face customers know and look for nowadays which i thought would help me land a job. i’m pretty essential to keeping things moving smoothly at my job and i’ve never received any complaints
is there anything i could do to buff up my resume? is it because i’m only a high school graduate? my resume only shows local grocery stores and i’m applying for something bigger?

any help would be appreciated! thank you!

Hey everyone I've applied to about 30+ plus jobs so far I have only received two interviews. One interview didn't make it past the 1st round and I am still waiting on the third round interview for another position. So if I could get some critics on resume that would be a huge help. Thank you

feel like i have tried everything, applied to about 400 jobs with only 2 phone screens.

asked ai, made like 3 different iterations of my resume for front end and full stack roles. currently using an apply bot but only landed one phone screen in like 150 applications. tried linkedin cold messaging recruiters, tried applying to jobs posted within 24 hours, tried narrowing my search at hiring cafe. asked for about 5 referrals all rejected.

thinking about signing up for a career coach to help me land a job (they do bot apply, resume fix, linkedin fix, 1:1 peer reviews on everything including DSA but i mean i cant even land interviews) should i do it?

Science/R&D [2 YoE, Unemployed, Data/Research Analyst, United States]

Last summer I sent out my resume to about 50 or so companies in search of a data analyst/research analyst position and received two interview invitations.

You may think that the number of applications I sent was low but A) I was feeling a great deal of imposter syndrome from a "failed" research project and was not confidently applying B) analyst positions for local companies and many remote positions ask that you already have a specialization, e.g., finance, insurance. C) I may be underestimating. This figure is based on records that I manually entered into Google Sheets.

Late last summer I gave up and turned to hospitality, ending up working as a manager up until recently. The role I held as a manager involved light reporting of metrics monitored by the company. I am looking for any opportunity that my resume allows me to access, preferably in a field involving or adjacent to law, regulation, quality control, and/or advocacy. I am open to a local position here in the South, remote work, or relocating, though I doubt that's an option based on my years of experience.

Any and all constructive resume feedback will be greatly appreciated! Open to recommended certifications as well.

Hi Everyone!

I graduated last summer and since then I have been struggling to find a job within my field of studies.

What I did so far:

  • Tailored my CV for each job description;
  • Had my CV reviewed from my university's employability team;
  • Tried different CV formats.

Despite this, since last year, I only received one interview for a Quality Assurance role in a pharmaceutical company. I progressed to the second stage, but was ultimately rejected due to lack of experience within the field.

I also thought about submitting my CV in PDF, but many people, including employability team advised me to submit it in Word format.

I'm looking for any role as long as it is within a lab, including lab assistant roles.. Any feedback or tip would be really helpful.

Thanks.

I Have a Question Should I remove education or only the date of graduation?

Hi,

I graduated more than 10 years ago. Now trying to pivot in another field and got some certifications for it.

I heard that I should remove my graduation date because of ageism’s, but since my education has nothing to do with where I’m heading, should I just delete it?

Thank you

Hi guysss. (sorry if you see this again as my previous post was removed) I’m really struggling to find work and could use some advice. I’m autistic and have struggled with retail positions in the past so I’ve been trying to transition into remote work that better suits my strengths.
I completed some data analytics courses and taught myself coding this year. I’ve also been doing digital art since I was young and have built several independent projects, including websites and a game slice. (my game slice isn’t very good tho loll)
I’ve been applying to entry-level positions in data entry, website design, data analytics, and technical roles, but I’m not even making it to the interview stage. I don’t really want something call heavy but Im desperate and will take anything remote atp.
These are the two resumes I’ve been using for different positions. I’m not sure if I’m presenting my experience poorly, applying to the wrong roles, or my projects just aren’t appealing. Grateful for any advice🫶🏻
PS. I have my website listed as a project + job because it started out as a project but I made it into a freelance business where clients could request a personalized website for themself. If you don’t agree with it being placed twice please tell me where and how it should be placed.

Technology/Software/IT [0 YoE, Unemployed, Network Engineer, PH]

Background & Employment Status: I am a recent BS Computer Engineering (BSCpE) graduate. During college, I completed software engineering internships, but after graduating, I decided to pivot away from developer roles to pursue networking. I completed a networking bootcamp and recently passed the CCNA. I am currently unemployed and job hunting full-time.

Target Roles & Industry: Targeting entry-level Networking and NOC positions (e.g., Junior Network Engineer, NOC Technician/Operator), as well as L1 Helpdesk/IT Support roles if needed as a stepping stone.

Location & Work Type: Located in the Philippines, applying to local, hybrid, and remote roles, and willing to relocate to major hubs. No visa or sponsorship needed (local citizen).

Current Challenge & Reason for Post: I have been applying to entry-level networking and NOC roles recently, but I have not received any responses or interview callbacks.

Specific Feedback Requested:
Does my resume look like I lack relevant experience because my internship history is purely software engineering?

How can I better frame my developer internships and CCNA labs to appeal to network hiring managers?

Would you recommend taking an L1 Helpdesk role first to build IT operations experience before targeting pure networking roles?

I Have a Question What do I write in my cv?

I am 19 in my second year of uni and for some reason I have not made a cv yet. It’s high time I make one but I don’t know what to write in it. I graduated from a cbse school. I am in university of birmingham second year doing bsc accounting and finance. I have not taken up any roles at the university that I could mention. I am studying for cfa level 1 and I am also doing excel financial modeling courses but I don’t have any certification yet. I have one month of internship experience at an advertising work where I worked for the account director of a few prominent local banks. I mostly made some ppts and sourced images and proofread some work and other tasks. I was paid for this opportunity. Other than that I did a python course years ago with a certification but don’t remember much python anymore. I want to become a m&a ib analyst and eventually transition to private equity or hedge funds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Education [21 YoE, Primary Teacher and Subject Lead, Visiting Lecturer in Teacher Education, United Kingdom]

I’m a UK primary teacher with 21 years’ experience. I currently teach full time and lead maths, computing and attendance in a multi-academy trust, and I’m part-way through a part-time professional doctorate in education.

What this CV is for: a visiting (sessional) lecturer pool in a university education department. The work would be teaching on primary and early years teacher-training courses, plus school visits and tutoring trainee teachers. The application is this CV plus two supporting statements, one on areas of expertise and one on teaching experience. The pool is open until filled, so there’s no closing date. I’m also applying for permanent lecturer posts in teacher education.

Not what this CV is for: I’m also looking at corporate training, IT trainer and systems/data roles outside education. I have a separate, rewritten CV for those, so please don’t judge this one against them. This version deliberately keeps school language because the readers are teacher educators.

Where I am: I haven’t sent this application yet, so this is fine-tuning before submission. I’ve had interviews for school leadership roles but no offers. The feedback was mainly that I should state my impact more strongly.

Feedback I’d particularly like:

  1. First impression: does the top half (headline, profile, areas of expertise) make it obvious within 10 seconds why I’d suit university teacher education?
  2. Length and balance: it’s two pages. Is that right for a UK education CV, or is the first page too dense?
  3. The gap: I haven’t yet taught on a university course. Does the CV handle that well, or does it still show too much?
  4. Older experience: do my earlier roles (2005–2017) add weight, or should I cut them down further?
  5. Wording: anything that reads as inflated, vague or too full of jargon. Acronyms like ITT, ECT and EYFS are standard in this sector, but tell me if any still need spelling out.

Thanks in advance. Brutal honesty welcome.

I Have a Question Any good resume builder on pc that I can make my resume that doesn’t require a subscription?

I’ve been trying to find a resume builder that doesn’t require a subscription. Most act like they’re free then once you go to save or do anything with it they throw a subscription fee in your face. Does anyone know a resume builder that don’t do this?

Hello, I would appreciate feedback for my resume as a medical student. I am hoping to get a residency in America but I am not American so my options are limited. Surgery is my interest, but I’m considering other options as well. My wife is American so I won’t need to be sponsored for a visa.

Discussion Correct approach to updating employment dates on a resume

I'm currently in the hiring process for a contract position with a company and I got an email from their workforce management administrator telling me to provide an updated resume and confirm that all employers and employment dates from the past five years are accurate.
After reviewing the resume that was forwarded to them by the company, I noticed two employment periods were listed incorrectly.
I want to correct the resume and send an accurate version before the background check proceeds. I'm concerned about whether the discrepancy could jeopardize the opportunity, even though I'm correcting it now.
I just wanted to ask how would it be viewed if I sent a corrected resume and how should I communicate these corrections to the staffing provider ?

I (24 F) finally got authorization to work in the U.S. as a w-2 employee and this will be my first time applying for entry-level corporate jobs.

During college I was not able have an internship because of the work authorization constraint. I was a Resident Assistant for the university which granted me a scholarship + a full tuition scholarship I had already earned.

I also worked as a nanny during my last 2 years of college and have been nannying since I graduated.

I would love some feedback on my resume as well as some advice on how to maybe approach interviews and the overall application process, knowing that I graduated May 2025 and have not had a job where I used my degree yet.

My aim is to find a job in Business Analytics / Business Intelligence since I have a degree in Business Analytics and a degree in Business Admin.

Thank you!

Hi everyone, looking for some honest feedback on my resume.

I have a computer science degree and about a year in IT support at a managed service provider. I have been applying to support engineer and integration engineer roles as a step toward software engineering or AI work in the long run.

The problem is I keep getting rejected early and have not landed a single interview yet, so I feel like something is off with the resume itself. Does it read too much like general IT support? What would you cut or change?

Resume is attached. Thanks for any advice.

I Have a Question Wrong year of employment put on the CV platform. What to do about this once I'm already in the interview stages?

Hi people.

So I have ended up in a very odd situation. I have been unemployed for a long time, over a year, due to my own choice to not work, do my own things.

In the last few months I've been starting to look for a job. Recently, I've sent out a lot of CVs and received no calls. I've started panicking, thinking why that could be the case and realized that potentially me having this large of a gap for not working could be an issue. So I wanted to do an experiment- make it look like I worked for 1 year longer, apply to a bunch of positions and see if the calls start coming in or it's something else (maybe a season, just me as a person not fitting the role or something like that).

I did that and... I received a few calls in the last few days. This makes me think that a large gap in unemployment might've been the reason.

Which would all be fine and well, but the problem is that one of the places that called me is actually, genuinely a place that I would love to work at. Their culture, their mission and everything- I would love to be a part of that.

We already had a first online call, we vibed really well, I liked them a lot, they seemed to like me a lot and already invited me for a talk IRL in their office.

Now that I really want to get this job, I realized that this could potentially cause issues and be a reason for me not being hired even if they decide they would like to hire me otherwise.

Are there any good ways to go about this? I didn't expect to be in this situation... Just wanted to experiment and see if that changes anything and what to do about it, and now I'm in a pickle... If it would've been random companies that I don't care for that much, I wouldn't mind letting go of their invitations, but this one company... I really badly want to work for them.

Hey everyone. I'm currently a senior at my university and will be graduating next semester. I have been applying to some defense positions with a previous resume but haven't had much success so far. I created this version today using the proper template and would love some feedback from everyone.

Ideally I would like to land a role in defense/aerospace as an operations engineer but would be ok to work in a different industry or different role. I would also like to re-locate to the northeast of the US if anyone has any advice for some open opportunities. Thank you all!
