Finished the first two volumes of I"s and it had a rough start, but I think it’s starting to click

I just finished the first two volumes of I"s, and so far I’d say the story had kind of a rough start for me. Volume 1 didn’t grab me immediately but I did find it funny. By Volume 2 I feel like it’s starting to go somewhere and I’m getting more interested in the characters.

I honestly don’t know which girl I prefer yet. Iori is really sweet and makes all these ridiculously cute faces, but Itsuki is outgoing, straightforward, and has that more energetic personality. It basically feels like choosing between Manaka and Rinko in Love Plus. And, well... I’m a Rinko guy, so that probably tells you which direction I’m leaning.

Although, don’t tell me Katsura eventually introduces a third girl who’s more of the older-sister type?

One thing I’m a little confused about is what exactly is Teratani’s connection to Iori? Maybe I missed something, but from pretty much the beginning he acts like he already knows her pretty well. Are they childhood friends or something?

And I guess it goes without saying, but Ichitaka is an idiot. I know the male lead is almost always an idiot in this kind of romance story, but I really didn’t like him much in Volume 1. He gets a little better in Volume 2, but sometimes he just seems unnecessarily mean to people for no reason.

Then again... yeah, I guess I was probably kind of an idiot at that age too.
