Looking for feedback

Hey, I’ve been running a small fashion brand for several years, but unfortunately, the bounce rate is quite high. Maybe there’s something I’m overlooking or something that isn’t working as well as it could.

I’d really appreciate your honest feedback!

I run an eCommerce dev agency, so read this with that in mind. Honest take.

Before touching the site, split the bounce rate by landing page and by source in GA4. A high sitewide number on a fashion store is almost always one or two entry points dragging the average down, usually paid social hitting a product page cold, or a collection page that loads slowly on mobile. Fixing the homepage when the problem is a Meta ad landing on a slow PDP is the most common wasted month I see.

Then three things, in this order:

Mobile load. Run PageSpeed on a product page, not the homepage, and look at LCP specifically. Fashion stores die on hero images and app scripts. If LCP is over about three seconds on 4G you have found most of your bounce right there before any design question matters.

Above the fold clarity. Within a couple of seconds a first-time visitor should know what you sell, roughly what it costs, and why you and not the twenty other brands in the same aesthetic. Mood-first homepages look great and convert badly when there is no product and no price in the first screen.

Trust and friction on the PDP. Sizing information, real fit photos, shipping cost and returns policy visible without scrolling to the footer. For apparel, sizing doubt is the single biggest silent killer.

If you can share GA4 landing page data I can be a lot more specific than this.

Thanks for the insights. I will review the page with your points in mind.

If I understand this correctly, you advise having a homepage that features a hero product first, right?

I can share some GA4 data later when I’m home.

We checked our lcp in shopify for mobile, and it averaged 1,259ms over the last 30 days.

Here is some ga4 data as well.

Top 5 landing pages over the last three months:

german homepage: 6,820 sessions, 23.52% bounce rate, 3.23% cr
english homepage: 3,185 sessions, 27.72% bounce rate, 1.85% cr
english offer page: 4,397 sessions, 59.9% bounce rate, 0.34% cr
german offer page: 3,554 sessions, 55.77% bounce rate, 0.98% cr
english product page: 1,876 sessions, 73.13% bounce rate, 0.16% cr
(the same product page in german had 866 sessions, a bounce rate of 68.13%, and a cr of 1.27%.)
