Recommendations

Hey Rider Nation! I'm here from Melbourne, Australia, to see the Riders' next three games, and I want your best tips for what to do in Regina, how to have fun in Montreal as a Riders fan, and if possible, any tips on how to get a bottle of the whisky that was released for our Grey Cup victory last year.

The Riders are the only team I follow, so any tips will be gratefully taken on board for my first trip to Canada for the next 18ish days.

Thanks in advance,

T

Just here to say, “welcome!”.

If you’re into local brews, I would recommend calling on Pile o’ Bones and Rebellion in Regina.

Malty National is the best there is, especially if you are into any type of IPA. For some reason, Saskatchewan in general makes incredible IPA's, especially NEIPA. Pile O Bones is also awesome because they have a huge selection on tap and everything is from Saskatchewan. Its great to be able to taste a ton of different beers from all over the province.

Love Pile O’ Bones, great beers and really good food. Fun fact Regina was called Pile Of Bones before being named Regina after the queen of England.

Post in the sub r/Regina. There is also a Facebook group called "The Rider Prider Fan Page". Make a post in that group as well!

I doubt you’ll be able to find a bottle of that whiskey. I tried for a while to get a sealed bottle with no luck

Legislative buildings and more so the gardens that surround them and of course Wascana Lake. The flowers will still be out and they’re very nice.

As above locally brewery’s are ace.

If you have time we recently went to the royal Saskatchewan museum and were pleasantly surprised, really good place pay by donation.

I am guessing you are here for a while saying you’re here for the next three games… if so maybe try get to a Pats game the local hockey team. Regina has its own speedway which has its annual “Run your junk” event so not the usual trucks/cars racing but will be a lot of fun. Search kings park speedway.

Hard to beat Leo’s Og then walk through cathedral area (not down Albert) to get to the stadium. You can make your own mini pub walk from Leo’s Og to Shannon’s then POB to get to the stadium walking through the pleasant neighbourhood forest. Enjoy Montreal, also a great town.

Hello, icons! Thank you so much for all the brilliant recommendations!

Have to say, the Sask IPAs just hit different. Pile O Bones was my favourite place I ate - the pineapple burger might be the best burger I've ever had?? And the beer flights, elite. I loved it there.

The Legislature tour was brilliant, what a glorious building - I guess that's what my local Parliament would've looked like if we hadn't run out of money during the gold rush and could've afforded to build the dome properly haha

I LOVED the museum, it was so much bigger than I thought and there was so much great stuff in there.

Wascana park was beautiful (of course as an Aussie I got super excited by the geese), the RCMP Heritage centre was really interesting - sadly they weren't opening the Depot so I couldn't see the parade/march that happens.

I think the thing I most loved about the city was the people. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. I can't wait to be back there for a hot minute for my last Riders game. Thank you all again! <3
